  2. No worries. Yeah that was us. Those guys had a few good old schools cars too. Thats why I ended up talking to them. I over heard them talking about their rides. The beer when down real good. The next time we have a sit down we better make ourselves known at the bar (like I did). Was not a bad night though. Just need the weather to cooperate for us.
  3. I got there bout half five and felt like a right pillack going round asking everyone if there were oldschool. Ended up drinking with the brewer of the beer there and the owner. Free beer tastes good. Weather was shite though.
  4. I'll be there. Mite be a bit late but I'll get there.

    capri heater..

I think there is a 12v heater that some house bus dudes use? Dunno where they get them though.
  12. Is everybody dead or something down here? Or do we just need a wake up call?
  13. Link for rally prep manual http://www.siipicossu.com/manuaaleja/manuaalit.htm go down page till find escort rally prep manual about 20meg download
  14. Coke can work sometimes - depends how greasey. If too dirty I've always tried atf oil and it works a treat especially on alloy. Just leave soaking in atf then wash off with hot soapy water or parts clean in a day or two.
  15. Yup thats the plan. Got my eye on a rolla now. If I get it cheap I only need a t50.
  16. It already has a xflow 1600 in it. Just wanted a little bit more reliability and performance. Thought 4age would be a good conversion. So many think its bad using anything but ford, but for what I would spend rebuilding my xflow (or pinto in my shed) I could put in a 4age and t50. Xflows tend to get temperamental when worked heavily and the cost of working one makes it a bit unreal compared to a swap. The money I'd spend on a sweet xflow I can put in a duratec. Don't want to do that to this esky. Its on the plans for my other MK2.
  17. Yep power isn't everything. You need to be able to get that power down and get traction. The fastest 4wd rally cars actually are quite low in hp just HEAPS of torque. I'm just building a low cost club car to have fun and learn to drive it. Don't need or want undie browning power. No point learning to rally in a full on grp4 car. That's why I would have thought a std 4age will be ok. I could always play with it later.
  18. Cheers guys, sounds like I threw a stone at a hornets nest. I thought about a pinto, but then thought a 4age (or similar) would perhaps be better. Mix of old old school and newer old school sort of thing. Power and reliability. Lots to think about. I want to try and get it done by end of this winter. Keep it coming guys! cheers
  19. Not too bad at all. There's a lot of bolt on parts or ready made parts available ex uk at pretty good prices and bellhousings or adapters to suit different gboxes. If you get a chance look up burton or rally design in the uk. They're prob the biggest in duratec stuff over there. And guys at Palmside here in chch can get stuff too.
  20. I am planning to use the 2.3 Duratec in my other car I'm building. There's heaps of good bits to use on them to get good power and reliability. And bolt in easy without too many mods.(see burton, or rally design) The only reason I'm looking at a 4age in the club car is they're cheap. And not too much power to destroy the std esky diff. They dont like too much grunt through them. Even with a mild pinto the diff won't last long especially if rallying. I don't really want to spend all my time fixing it when I can be building a sweet mk2. Any more power and I'd have to use a atlas diff or similar. As a bit of info -Ford tried to sue Toyota over the 4age as it was originally a copy of their bda. Was only at the last minute that Toyota changed something and Ford dropped the court case. Got that from a guy in uk.
  21. Was thinking of using a T50 box due to K series not strong enough. The std 4age cheaper than working the xflow and still be more powerful and more driveable. This is just going to be a club type car as I really want to get out there and have some fun while building up my other MK2 into a real rally car.
  22. Has anyone done a 4age into a mk2 esky? I'm thinking about putting one in mine to use as a basic club car. Any thoughts be much appreciated.
  23. Would that manifold allow him to run sidedrafts? I don't know my esky stz but surely you mean just a standard one. Nah. A manifold that suits twin sidies. that way you can still run booster. Only need to delete booster if you put big cam in engine( cause it won't produce enough vacuum for the booster).
  24. I take it it's a xflow motor? Why not use the 1300 manifold. It's angles upward slightly so it clears the booster. Palmside in chch has them in stock. Thats what they recommended for my Esky. Much easier than mucking around with the booster!
  25. The codes on the diff won't give ratios. You will need the axle code off vehicle id plate, full model code and last 7 digits of chassis then give to a toyota parts to look up and they can tell ratios from that. Failing that it shouldn't be too hard to work it out by marking crown wheel and pinion then turning pinion or c/w and counting how many turns the other did.
