  1. That's exactly why I did it. I started with an engine with 180,000kms on it and was amazeed how love it lasted. I sold the setup before the engine died. You are in Chch right? I got an SC12 you can borrow. the SC14 is about 30mm longer. yeh im in chch, would be awesome if i could size it up sometime
  2. u rekon? 250-300 for superchager i can get a plate made up to mount it, and im sure it wount cost 250 bucks for some piping. wont be far off 500
  3. hey guys thats for all the replies, especially nismo.capri, youve cleared alot of things up. just want to say im not after a beast of an engine, and i dont reeeealy see the point of spending alot of money on what i have now, but like nismo said, all going to plan, a supercharger is basically cheap bolt on power. at the end of the day its neva going to go warp speed, but if a could get a decnt kick from some boost for what $400-500 bucks them id be more than happy. i know it would make sense to build up then egine first, ie cam, pistons, values, ported head etc etc the list goes on, and so does the cost!! if i spend 500 buks on boosting it and it tunrs to custard, then so be it, i could sell the charger for what i pay for it anyway, and it would be a good experience. i mean id rather drive round in a supercharged hillman hunter (you know any one with one??....exactly) for an extra 500 buks, then spend thousands on getting the engine rebuild. the car cost me 400 buks so im not goin to spend thousands. so if i boost it and it blows up, itl be good fun. anyways enough rant for now, nismo.capri, you dont happern to have some measurements for the sc14 do u? just want to size it up in the engine bay and see what gets in the way. cheers again for all ur help.

  5. haha u said wet blanket...lol yeh i can see where ur coming from and yes ive herd they blow gaskets easily too, although ive neva blowen one ......touch wood. but yeh ur right, it will probably just poo its self. but ill ask around tho, hopefully some has tried it before. also ive just had a long hard stare at the engine bay, and it would be a tight fit....i think il need to do a bit more background research before i jump in hed first lol

  7. oh man im so keen...so heres what ilneed (correct me if im wrong)... supercharger (sc14) SU carb (upgrade current one to 1.75" or 2" if i can find one) plate to mount supercharger to engine (where alternater is or elsewhere) piping to run from carb to charger and then from charger to inlet manifold that sound right? also, would be keen on putting in a boost gauge so i can keep an eye on things, so where would be the best place to tap into the setup? cheers
  8. hey peeps, i need a few bits patched up on the hunter, no rust or anything, just fixing a couple of dents. was wondering if there are any people on here that could do if for with an oldschool discount? doesnt need to be top notch, just that ive neva dun anything like that before, and my current attempt has started cracking (the bog lol) cheers
  9. haha yeh that would have been it. yeh id like it lower but its my daily obviously so it needs to be semi-practicle. plus i cant go any lower without certing it so theres 300 buks on the cert alone already. and it already rubs a bit at the mo so yeh. also its a cunt trying to find parts for it ie lowering springs, so the fronts are already compressed 65mm and cant go much lower. to make it worth wile going lower i think id need to spend a bit of money doing it properly. one day tho....one day. cheers tho stoked that u recognised it

  11. sweet, did u then just run a short belt from that to the supercharger? since its the pully size that determines boost, what size do you rekon i should be using? im not to sure on what boost i should be running, around 6? also, ive had a look on tardme and the sc14s seem to all be going for around 300 buks..decent price u rekon? cheers
  12. twin pulley...thats a pully where you can run two belts off it? so one part would have the current belt going on it and the other (outsude i assume) would run a small ribbed belt hooked up to the supercharger?
  13. so just to get my head around things, this is basically how it works... supercharger is mounted against engine, with pully lined up with belt(ill need a longer belt i assume?) carb is attached(by pipe or whatevea) to intake end of supercharger, and carb is set up as normal with all fuel lines etc as they are outlet end of supercharger is connected(again by pipe) to inlet manifold of engine (where carb used to be) that sound about right? cheers

  15. im not after huge numbers, just something to give it a bit more ommph, and its not very powerfull now so yeh anything is a bonus. hmmmm supercharging would be sweet, u rekon i could keep the engine stock? just run low boost i spose...5-6psi? il try find a DIY article on the web, unless someone can link me to a good one?

  18. hey all. im thinking of gettin the complete exhaust system replaced on the hunter to let things breath a bit better. what size pipe should i look at getting? at the mo its just standard engine (1725cc). i dont quite get the whole back pressure thing but i know that bigger is not always better. i was thinking maybe 1.75" or 2"? that sound about right? also, how much should i expect to be paying for a full system? cheers

  20. well it all goes and lights up when the keys are turned, does a sweet light up full rev swing at first which its aws lol. but it says that im reavving to 8500.....which it shouldnt be lol so yeh is trhere anything that i should check that causes this? would it mater if i got the wires on the coil around the wrong way? it also has a switch on the back with 3 settings, would this be 4, 6 , 8 cylinder? it has no markings

  22. hey guys, just picked up a tacho for the hunter. its got 3 wires, red black and green and was just wondering if anyone could let me know which goes where? ive had a look around, and the best ive got is red goes to positive coil, green negative side, and balck ground. does this sound right? thought one of them would be lights...brand name is swoosh if that matters any ideas?

  24. yeh ca18 turbed would be mint. yeh ive seen a few v8 avengers and yeh they r similar. but my budgets not that big hahaha
