bit of an update....the guy can also provide me with a set of double valve springs which both he and others have recomended ( i think he knows his stuff). im trying to haggle him down to 550 for the carbs, mani and springs, am waiting for his answer. ive also tracked down a spare head for 100 bucks...a bit steep i think but tis the only one ive found so far. with probably either get slipsittin or nismo_capri to do a bit of work on it for me, depending on when/if i get the head. so im still trying to decide to take the plung haha. ive put my bike and my spare digital camera on trade me, so my theory is that if i buy the carbs and head now, hopefully my bike and camera will sell (as the both close after the carbs etc), and ill be happy as larry. i really really want to...but i dont have much money at the mo, and uni starts in under two months.....grrrr i hate being a poor student

well my mountain bikes up for sale so if that sells ill buy them haha. what should i expect to be paying for a pair of good condition, correctly jetted, complete with all linkages 40 DCOE webers? they guy wants 550 including the manifold for the cast iron head (which is dam hard to find). is that a fair price? or should i just grab the manifold while i can and then keep an eye out for a cheaper pair (he wants 100 for the manifold)? its that fact that they are actulay set up for the hunter engine which attracts me to it, so they are prety much bolt on.

i love it when threads explode like this haha whoe knew a hunter would be such a good discusion topic. nah but seriuosly thanks for all the advice. i think if he drops the price a bit ill go for it, and do the exhaust as well, although i think id have to get custom extracters because as HUNTD said, go fast bits for cast iron heads are bloody hard to find. and the exhaust man told me that its getting prety weak at one point where it used to swing around a bit, so ive got an excuse to replace it haha. keen for in front of rear wheel exit.......

how much munies would i be looking at for a simple port/polish?

Unless there jetted for a 1725 or similar. Yuh. shouldve really mentioned that. yeh they are straight of a hunter 1725cc engine and are jetted correctly etc..

its the cast iron head, so intake manifolds are fuckin hard to find. it needs a bloody good tune actually, so maybe i should start from there. i spose it would only really be worth it if i was going to go to whole 9 yards which to be honest i dont think i will unless i win lotto haha

hey all. thinking about putting a pair of weber 40s on my hunter (there are some on trademe), and at the moment the engine is completely stock (1725cc, single stromburg side draught). can i expect any half decent gains in terms of power? or would i need to work on other areas of the engine to make a difference? ie exhaust etc. i understand that its not going to turn it into a rocket ship, but yeh, just wondering if its worth it? or would i just be wasting my money. cheers

sup man, carl showed me a pic of urs the other day, looks fukn tidy. mines got a cast head so its slow and no one makes twin carm manis for them lol. fuk $216? look on trademe im sure i saw one the other day for way less. ive got 3inch blocks in the back lol and yeh compressed 60mm in the front. theres a guy on trademe who was/is selling a set of twin carbs+manifold for an alloy head. they not on there at the mo but ive got his email address somewhere cause i brought some shit off him a wile ago. ill dig it out and pm it to u. he was looking for $120 last time they were up.

yeh i duno if they are lol. the guy said they may have been off a early rx7, but when someone asked what pcd they are, he said 108. for 50 buks its worth a try. if they dont fit ill just sell them, no biggie

well i got some rims, 15" with 205s on the back haha so im definitly going to need some flaring. anyne know of a place in chch that does it. myt have to wait till after the summer holidays as i wont b with my car

just got these bad boys on trademe.......15 inch with 4 wofable tyres...50 buks haha. not 100% sure on stud pattern but meh for 50 buks its worth a try. they in levin so ill grab them on my way home to the tron, which means i wont be able to try them till next year ah well i can just lay in bed at night and dream of it...cough cough lol. so yeh i rekon they guna look fukn sweet with the matt black, myt have to keep it black lol. 99% sure ill have to roll/flare the guards but meh im stoked

hey there. just brout a set of rims and tyres of trademe, they are in levin and the guy wants them picked up asap. im travelling home from chch to hamiltron next week, and will be passing through levin on wednesday(ie next week), and if this is too late for me to get them off him (ill find out) i was hoping that someone could grab them over the next few days and hold onto them until i come through? beverages will be provided for your efforts. if anyone can help that would be great, like i said ill find out if he can just keep them till next week. cheers

yeh i was thiking that, but i dont wana like get some rims and then not get them to fit, but i spose it cant be that hard. chur man oh btw jonas is out of hospital now lol hes all gud. now alowd to do aything more than walk fore 6 weeks tho lol and hes got a cast on his arm.

not sure exactly, but ive tried some 13x6 hotwires with 185/70s, and the guards just sit on the side of the tyres so yeh. kinda wana open my options up a bit by having enough room at the back to tuck some wheels up, as its prety low (3" drop + 30 yrs of sag lol). it has 185/80s on there now, on standard steelies, and its perfect. the offest must just be ideal.

hey peeps. thinking about getting the guards rolled/flared on the hunter, so i can fit some bigger wheels on it. anyone reccomend where to go? also, can anyone tell me how much extra width you can get from rolling/flaring them? i need probably a inch lol cheers
