  1. i think im getting confused as to what the pressure plate is...i thought the pressure plate sat against the flywheel, and the the clutch cover over that (clutch cover has the fingers) and the the release bearing comes in contact with the fingers of the clutch cover??? or am i confusing my self? any nah i dont have the hunter anymore...
  2. nah we put it on the right way as it said "flywheel side" on one face.... going to try again tonight with a different clutch cover and will double check that everything is around the right way
  3. the one with alot of prongs
  4. to begi with we bleed the clutch, felt a lil soft but not outrageous, and then adjusted the rod from the slace cylinder to get more travel. still didnt work. so we removed the slave cylinder all together, and used a well placed jack (dont laugh haha) to move the clutch fork into the position where the clutch should be completely disengaged, ie as far as it would go. it still didnt work, but at least it removed the hydraulic system as the culprit. so it must be something to do with the clutch mechnism its self, and since a pressure plate is so simple, and i used two different ones, i see the only option is the clutch cover...but yeh i dont know why it wouldnt work. i dont know enough about release bearings to tell if its stuffed or not, but the contact surface freely spins (ie the bearing part) and it seems to be in working order so yeh...im stumped. am going to borow another clutch cover off a mate, and try that. it has also been sitting for a while but yeh...worth a try. was kinda hoping someone would see this and be like oh yeh its the ****** or whatever haha
  5. haha, nah the release bearing if def in the right place. is a standard 1600 and 4speed
  6. im not quite sure what you mean by that sorry...please explain to my amateur brain
  7. sweet. i would of thought that would only work when the pressure plate is stuck to the flywheel? since ive taken everything off, this shouldnt be the cause....nothing looked noticibly rusted/stuck or anything either...im sure it must be something to to with the clutch cover and the forks, as i dont see how the pressureplate would cause this...i even tried it with a spare pressure plate and no change. fukn pissing me off haha.
  8. yeh i it has been sitting for a while, as the gearbox got replaced and hasnt been working properly since then (i just got it). we tried freeing it up by having the tyres just off the ground and starting in gear and pumping the clutch over and over but with no luck. will try the handbrake technique, but its bloody hard to grab a gear once its running, reverse seems the only option and only goes in with a nasty crunch. will give it a go though. anyone got any other thoughts? cheers
  9. long story short....if the release arm is moving through its full range of travel, but the clutch is not disengaging, what are the possible problems? have removed g/box and taken off clutch cover and pressure plate, visual inspection shows no issues, re-assembled, and still not disengaging.... is it possible the the clutch plate is 'seized'? ie when the release bearing pusing on the forks, its no remving the presure from the presssure plate? car is mk2 cortina is it makes a difference. any suggestions would be great, have pend the last 5 hours tying to get it working
  10. as above, will extractors from a 1500 cortina motor fit onto a 1600 cortina motor? did a quick search but couldnt find anything... cheers
  11. mines probably a good 2 feet from the rear..... is it behind any opening windows? that it is my friend
  12. mines probably a good 2 feet from the rear.....
  13. does the exhaust have to exit outside the parameter of the vehicle? ie at the mo my exhaust finishes just behind the diff, and points slightly towards the ground, and is like 1 foot from the side of the car, pointing towards the back. do i have to extend the pipe so it either exits out the back or the side? cheers
  14. well i went two tone...car now looks prety much like this, the blue is a bit more greeny tho, its actually teal. will get proper pics sometime, this is just a photoshop done for me from when i was thinking of it
  15. sweet thanks man, ill get in touch if i end up buying them. worst case scenario ill have to deposit the money into your account for you to give the dude cash..... cheers
  16. hey all. not confirmed yet but if needed, is there someone in tauranga who would be willing to pickup a supercharger and carb for me (sc14 and a SU so its not huuuge), and post it down to christchurch? all at my expense of course. would slip in a few extra bills for the beer fund cheers
  17. could look at a 2.0L cortina motor. plenty of info on what required etc...or even just a 1600 if you want to keep it very simple
  18. nah rims are 13x6, which is choice cause they are narrow enough to go under the guards, but still have dish
  19. haha yeh its not a embaresment anymore i rekon it looks fukn mint in black cuase it sets off the chrome trim and that. ive got paint for it, but am undecided on if ill paint it. cause the body has a few dings and that so would be a fuk load of work as if i was going to do it id want to do it properly.
  20. PICS!!!!!!! put a airhorn in today...its fukn loud... new wheels
  21. got wof etc etc.....ive done a bit of work on the car over the last week. swapped all the seats and carpet over from my parts car, makes the inside heaps nicer. also my wheels arrived, and after some gentle persuasion of the rear guards with a sledge hammer....haha, they fit all good. just s slight rub when hitting massive bumps lol. looks so mint now, looks heps stauncher. will get pics up tomoro if it stops raining. next ont he list is to find and stop the leaks that let rain in, so that the carpet doesnt rot (WHICH IS WHY I REPLACED it in the first place), and also recover the dash as its cracked and sshitty looking. oh and i chopped the rear muffler off, hasnt really made it louderr but sounds a bit grumblyer which is mint.
  22. failed wof on rooted front struts, and exhasut manifold leak. swapped over the front suspension from my parts car, and have a mani gasket arriving tomoro, so should be warrented by end of week. got my full licence as well so i can actually legally drive it now haha fuk im useless. swapped some mags i had (wrong stud pattern) for a set of 13" minilights with some sweet dish (well like 30mm dish haha), with two new tyres and two with 3mm tread. so stoked, cant wait to get them. will look fukn dope with a good clean
  23. well i went and put them in the car today, looked prety mint, but they stick out past the edge of the car lol, so the car sits on the tyres at the back when i lower it off the jack....think its just going to be too much hassle/expense to get them fitting good anyways....ah well
