  1. Thought he was running 14x7? (on the Ex) but yea I know what your saying about the offset (think my 16's were actually off a Nissan!) Have dummied them up (using 6mm spacers) reckon they'll be ok, always got some Sigma steelies (gota run at least 14's now tho, with Starion brakes)
  2. Ha Ha... Yea I know what you mean, but 7inch are about as wide as can run on Ex without hitting suspension etc (and not stick out too far...) Be keen for some more Sigma rims, just wider (7 front, 8 rear)
  3. Ha ha, you mean they WONT fit or... they'll look GAY with that offset?
  4. whats the offset of those 16s? Ive got some 16s for my Ex but not sure if I'll use them? 16x7, 16x8 (both +32 tho) gota run bot 6mm spacers
  5. Ha ha, cheers guys slowly getting there... these cold as fuck nights aren't making me "run out" to the shed to work on it tho! hopefully picking up the radiator and electric fan tomorrow, so I'll be busy sorting out what hoses etc to run over the weekend those mitzy fuel pumps DO seem to fuck out, and leak oil etc (see how long it last) I miss the "look" of my powder coated Sigma rims, and the more I see macabre's "widened" Sigma rims I want to get some more for mine... (Guess I'll get it "GOING" 1st)
  6. It's been awhile but... Have got a few things sorted (slowly) Got the "new" Sigma booster and master cylinder fitted, and brakes bled (ALL orginal Ex brake lines, holes, fittings etc in correct place NO mods required) Got the Starmax down to the suspension place and got the height "adjusted" but with brand new shocks/springs still is "stiff" and will probably settle down a bit more still so, no pics yet (esp. with shitty rims and tyres!) Also a quick note about the gearbox seal... I'm using the Sigma box (5 speed cable) with the L200 extension housing (to keep the gear stick in the factory position) but found after filling up the box I had an oil leak from the tailshaft seal? (see above pic) (after changing it twice) I worked out that you cant use the L200 tailshaft seal (Sigma seal way to small for housing) The L200 uni-joint is bigger than the Ex/Sigma making the "inside" edge of the seal a bigger diamanter and not sealing on the Ex/Sigma uni So... You need a seal the same size as the L200 "outter" and Ex/Sigma "inner" (Size: 52/32/7) Started working on the inlet side of things, Have dummy fitted the factory manifold, to work out where things will sit etc and have had an adaptor plate "made" to run the 32/36 Weber (I got one of those "brought" adaptor plates but couldnt believe how CRAP it was!) So had a mate make up this one, and had it matched to the intake ports on the manifold I know, I know... those crap Mitzy fuel pumps, but I want to "try" and keep it as orginal and stock looking as possilble (but yes, IF it fucks out I'll be changing it!)
  7. cheers man, Ha ha, not really tho... (mine looks better in the pics) and at least you've got something to "look at" under your bonnet!
  8. Finally got the Sigma master cylinder sorted Ended up getting a brand new one (just like EVERYTHING ELSE!) So got the booster and the master cylinder painted, re-assmebled, and fitted all the new bits back onto it Complete and ready to fit to the Ex... Also got the alternator back together, (with new brushes and bearings) Hope to get the Sigma booster etc fitted and bled soon as, then tow it down to the suspension place to get the ride height sorted and wheel alignment (have got 95% of weight in car, just no manifolds or radiator) but its sitting "way too high!" dont want to take any pics of it like it is, being SO HIGH on shitty black Sigma rims with 70 series tyres! Cant wait to have it at the right height...
  9. Right, finally got some prices on rubbers... (genuine Mitzy ex-Japan) inc gst BOOT: $158 DOORS: (REAR) LEFT: $165 RIGHT: $169 DOORS: (FRONT) LEFT: $158 RIGHT: $145 I know, they are expensive, but I might be able to get a bit cheaper if your REALLY KEEN...
  10. Hey man, No way about Phill's old car! (GAY) I'll have to get hold of him and see what happened... I can price most bits "new" let me know what your after
  11. Trigger

    5 speed for a 4g32

Easiest would be a 5 speed from a 1600 Ex (and you'll NEED the 5 speed x-member) Or... Get a Sigma box, and swap the "rear extention housing" over from a L200, this will bring the shifter back to the same place as the Ex
  12. Boring post... Found the Sigma master cylinder bore is "pitted" and is seeming difficult to get a new or aftermarket one? (may have to get it re-sleeved) Good news tho, I finally have a clutch pedal! Have been "trying" to use the Sigma clutch cable but seemed to be too short? So after asking around I ended up using the standard 1200 Ex clutch cable, (thanks Ke36) And have got the starter re-assmebled after, new brushes, a clean, and quick lick of paint Tested it (and it GOES!) now fitted...
  13. Primo, Mitzys man! even got a parts wagon! LOTS of info on here about mods etc... Looking mint as!
  14. Non-stop this weekend! Got "HEAPS" done (for once) 4G63 IN... 5 speed IN... Sigma gearbox, and gearbox x-member (using the L200 extension housing) All bolts up with NO modifcation, gear stick in factory postion (NO cutting of floor/tunnel) 4G63, mounted in Ex engine bay (YAY!) From underneth; (gearbox, drive shaft, powder coated front end) Just got the Sigma, booster and master cylinder back from the painters, so after I re-kit the master cylinder can fit and bleed all the brakes (can't wait to have half decent brakes)
  15. Ha ha, don't know about that... Everyone has "different ideas" on whats right/good etc Keeping it pretty simple/easy, Hoping to use a 32/36 Weber on the factory manifold trying to make it look sort of "factory" Have got a few old Webers at the mo, and have had the factory Sigma inlet manifold modified etc to the 32/36, talked to someone at Weber NZ about re-con ($350?) but they recommended "brand new" ($550?) New has manual choke aswell Then a "2nd hand" ram flow air filter! Na... have priced up some K&N's ($140-$160) (just gotta work out which height I'll need) Then suss some xtractors, wanting 4-2-1, but coby only seem to stock 4-1? Since this isn't a "race motor" or going to be pulling "big" revs, really want good mid range from 4-2-1 (custom maybe?) Then a, 2 1/4inch pipe, manderal bends, couple of mufflers, and a black tail pipe! Open to any ideas tho...
  16. Right... It's been a busy few weeks sorting shit out, waiting for parts and getting things painted, re-assembling and fitted (finally) All powder coated parts "in" Starion vented brakes: Fitted / calipers painted and re-kitted... New brake hoses, "Bigger" Sigma sway bar, and nolathane bushes "all round" Engine x-member, lower arms, and all "new" steering componnents etc fitted... Got the final parts for the engine too, All complete (bar manifolds) Ready to drop into the Ex...
  17. Looking real crisp man! ALL GOOD! Did you get any xtractors, when you did the new system? What muffler you using? (just x1 aye?) Was thinking about going 2 1/4? "WHEN" I get round to doing mine (2litre)
  18. The coupe is looking "MINT" bro! Hanging out to get the Ex going so we can hit the square like old times!
  19. Lowlancer: Yea, I can list everything I've used... (but I might wait till I've got it ALL in there, including engine/box and had an alignment) just to be 100%, and not have to keep letting you know of changes etc But if you cant wait... Any referance to Sigma, is a 1982 GE' Sigma (2litre/5 speed, sedan) Sigma engine x-member Sigma sway bar (front) bonus: Sigma sway bar about 25mm thick (compared to Ex: 10/12mm) Sigma lower control arms Sigma x4 bolt ball joints Starion x2 bolt kncukles (ball joint to strut) Starion struts Ex top hats (x3 bolt) Steering: Sigma and Ex Draglink (main/centre steering rod) are different, I have used the Sigma one to match with the Sigma x-member, (may want to keep the draglinks and x-members the same, eg Ex and Ex) Another "rumour" was that the Ex idler arm (LEFT side) 'hits" the Sigme x-member, this is true I guess... (but only every lightly) So I filed all the edges of the x-member and steering stops up about 5-10mm (no problem) Would recommend using the Sigma idler arm and Ex pitman arm (right) because both the Ex arms are about 15mm longer than the Sigma's, so again want to keep them matched up as a pair I used both Ex idler and pitman arms (note: Ex and Sigma have the SAME; outter tie rods and LEFT inner tie rod) Sigma RIGHT inner tie rod is about 20-30mm "longer" than Ex and the Sigma LEFT hand turnbuckle (long threaded adjusting tube) is also about 20-30mm longer than Ex I ended up using ALL Ex steering parts, excepted for the Draglink and the turnbuckle (Sigma) Like I've said dont take this as the "total truth" yet, I wanta make 100% sure 1st
  20. Yea, better to be safe than sorry... (so many "rumours" about Starion struts and HUGE NEGITIVE camber?) wanted to be sure, and do it myself Ended up using a "mixture" of parts for the steering Sigma; drag link (main/centre rod) Starion; strut knuckles Ex; idler, pitman and ALL tie rods Now got a 2 week "wait" for some more bits ex-Japan! But got lots to do in the meantime... so should be ready to fit ALL the powder coating when the other bits FINALLY turn up (getting there, slowly but surely)
  21. Ha Ha, cheers man! Just trying to make everything look, "factory fitted" and tidy dont think it'll go, aswell as it looks!
  22. Right, its been a few "busy" weeks! Fitting and removing parts, ordering "new" parts and getting more parts sand blasted and powder coated! Dummied up the Sigma x-member and steering (un-painted) to test fit the "new" suspension setup, (that I got made) to see how everything was sitting (but still NO engine/g.box in at this time) And just like "Ke36" has found with his Ex... there is NO NEGITATIVE CAMBER? (well not "crazy" negitative camber) Otherwise good news! Everything bolted in sweet and there weren't any problems with the steering (Sigma/Ex) or suspension (Starion) So after towing it down to the suspension place and getting it ALL checked out on the hoist, I got to tow it back and remove it ALL AGAIN, to be blasted and coated! (YAY!) Few pics of how the powder coating turned out: BEFORE: AFTER: I would highly recommend "Centeral Powder Coaters" (in Palmy) TOP job and very reasonable prices! Now just have to re-fit everything (I'm getting good at doing this now) fit the Sigma booster, Starion front calipers, finish the engine, and get it IN!
  23. Body kit? mmm.... Ha Ha! Guess everyone has their own tastes and opions about modifiying, dont think I've "wasted" it tho? Yeah man, check my "build up" page got a cam already, and the head/valves clean up and have got a 32/36 Weber, but might end up buying a "brand new" one with manual choke, and re-jetted for my engine (cost to re-kit, clean up etc the old one is $$$) Then suss out some xtractors (custom?) and exhaust, have really decided yet, got LOTS of other things to do in the mean time!
  24. Fair enough... (each to their own) Everythings "bolt in" tho, and I reckon once I'm finished most people wont even know the motor has been changed etc It'l just be tidyer
  25. Been waiting on some powder coating, new parts to arrive, and the suspension to be built, so things are moving along slowly at the mo... Got the "front" of the Sigma motor, on and together now Have replaced every nut and bolt etc (all genuine from Mitzy/Japan) Dont thing I'll be able to keep up this level throughout ALL the car tho! Pic: Replaced, or painted everything (even tho no-one will see it!) note: (balance shafts removed) easy motor to work on, esp. like this Pic: Before I get the sump back, the complete bottom end (balanced)
