  1. Well ive got one door almost done, still needs a bit of straightning out but not to bad. At least the bugger still fits, temporarily bolted up.
  2. Cheers for the encouragement fellas, helps the enthausiasm Things starting to progress quite well now, getting sick of sanding though Going to keep it orange with black interior (except blue seats) and thinking black engine bay, may be. Brushed on underseal and stone guard' the boot, comes in spray cans from super cheap and seems suprisingly quite good. Think of got the engine sorted too, got the evo injectors fitted and going for a low mount t3 ball bearing turbo on s/s manifold if allgoes to plan
  3. And a present for xmas the mrs got me. Awesome
  4. Thought about gettin a new boot since my one was so rusty, but after seeing the price of a new one i thought the angle grinder + hammer would be best. Exploritory hole After a bit of measuring and hammer work got it tacked into place and splashed a little rust kill round. The finished product. Came out pretty good. Also sealed and stone guard' the boot. Some body pics of her sitting in primer And the next mission, the doors! Which i stripped today. Will keep yas posted
  5. May sound silly but is it the length clutch cable? How much slack is on it when you pull the cable buy hand? Another silly question but have you put the return spring back on ya clutch pedal?
  6. You can either make a whole new tunnel or what i did was take out the original box mounts which are just spot welded, cut round the top of ya gearbox tunnel and fill in the gaps. I also welded box section from the chasis to the floor tomake new mounts for the new g/box. Check my project for some pics. As for the clutch just make one like palmside sell, in the process of doing it myself. What are your plans for it?
  7. 2nd last weekend in january off the top of my head
  8. 1 - 3 - 4 - 2 is your firing order,with 1 being at the front then clockwise 3-4-2. Hope this helps
  9. That setup looks like its for an evo 4-6? Is the surge tank feed by the in tank pump?
  10. Beauty, cheers fellas will go with a surge now.
  11. Some interesting reading.Just looking at doing the fuel system for my mk1 escort. Just wondering since its in the rear quarter well, and theres no place for the fuel to go except down to a bit of a taper, do you think i should need a surge tank or just go straight from the original tank to a high pressure pump?
  12. Have you got a timing light handy? Als check the dizzy cap hasnt been knocked/got any cracks in it, and are the points gapped properly.
  13. If your replacing the insert smack the shit out of it with a hammer and a pin punch, or if thats to brutal grab a bearing puller and get it that way. I had the same problem with mine. theres not that much tension on the spring when it does pop off.
  14. Yeah thats why you only boost the front brakes, if you want to boost both front and rear you will need two of them. Twin cam escorts came out from the factory with single line boosted to the front only.
  15. Actually heres one on trade me, $100 reserve, possibly a hillman one though, not sure.
  16. Only pic i could find, a VH44 is a remote brake booster you can put where ever you want in ya car, much like a hillman hunters booster, just run ya brake line to it from ya original brake master cylinder, then out of it to your calipers, and a vacuum hose to your manifold. Only do either front or rears, not both though. bout $300 new from bnt. There is a bigger one which is a VH40.
  17. Sounds like you might have to get some new shocks mate. Youll also need a mk2 steering rack as the tie rod ends are different size, plus mk 2 are metric where as mk 1 is imperial so cant just buy new tie rod ends and put them on ya mk 1 rack.
  18. Yeah im gonna run a vh44 up under the dash i think, got my brakes off e bay with the 5 stud hubs to match the hilux rear end. Theyre big brakes so hopefully will pull up all right.
  19. Good one to go to is cromwell at the end of january, mainly american tanks but still a few old escorts and rotas, corollas etc.
  20. Got any pics of the new brakes? Are you running them boosted or not, might go the vh44 way i think, what are you using? So many questions

    Escort offset?

yeah, cheers mate, thought that might be the case but thought id ask anyway. Havent seen too many eskys with 18s either.
  22. Just looking at some mags for my mk1 escort with bubble arches on it. What offset mags should i run with the arches to fit 18 x 8's on it?
  23. Yeah cheers, hopefully should do the trick, just about to go drop ya rims off to mainfreight
  24. well heres how ive done my intercooler setup and it all fits nicely. and a shot of the inside, think i might make some polished alloy plates to go up the sides and across the top to tidy it up a bit. also decided to paint the engine bay black to match the bonnet.
