It's not uncommon for the solder joints to break on the mobo, so worth opening it up for a looksie @Willdat?

Who else used to buy single ided 5.25" discs and notch the other side to make them double sided?

Oh, and chips. Yum.

Chip fat is renewable, it's recycled, and everywhere you go smells like a chip shop. What's not to like?

Good plan, I'll hunt for a fire extinguisher company.
Some bunnings do co2 and some don't.
-
It needs a test too. I'm in the wairarapa so not much local. There used to be a paintball place down the road but they seem to have disappeared.
I use more co2 for beer than welding. Now I think about it, if I got a bunnings bottle (6kg) I could fill my 3.5kg bottle and about a dozen sodastream bottles that I use for the beer and then return the bunnings one and get my deposit back.
-
Owner bottle might be more hassle than it's worth now, might get a bunnings one.

A caravan with a roof full of solar panels and a floor full of batteries would be awesome if it could feed power to the car.

Yeah that's a spendy bit of brass.
I found a CO2 regulator with the right fitting, but then discovered my tank is empty Survitec in petone used to fill them but their phone number no longer connects.
-
I've lost the female-female adapter to connect a regulator to my co2 cylinder. Anyone know where I can get one?

Dammit the best idea I've had all week is a shit idea.

Bummer. Fax me the batts from the other two?

Shall we do a group buy and import a boatload of old leafs before the rebate ends?

Looks like maybe it's a weight for the vacuum operated secondary?
In which case it probably shouldn't touch anything.

I bought a 36V battery off TM then spotted this lunacycle double gear hub motor kit. Luckily a 27.5x2.3 tyre just has enough clearance in my tandem's 26" frame.
It has two separate planetary gear sets with one way clutches. The controller can drive the motor either direction, and one way engages one set of gears and reverse engages the low gears.
The kit was sold for 48/52V so I didn't think it would work but you can also select 36V in the menu.
Top speed is about 30 with the 36V battery, which is fine. It's nice just cruising along with about 100-200W assist. Middy isn't a cyclist so we've really limited by range and I had the odd grueling ride home after her batteries ran out.
The original owner drilled the hub and put a screw in so he could fill it with ATF for better cooling. Probably a good thing considering how much weight it has to push now.
I didn't use the cadence sensor much because the brake switches aren't compatible with hydraulic brakes, but the programming doesn't seem as good as my mate's bosch mid drive. Kind of all or nothing like someone mentioned upthread.
I'll probably upgrade the battery at a later date. Heaps of room inside the frame for cells. Maybe get a folding solar panel then we can do cycle camping.
@Willdat? this is the tandem but I'll get a better photo when the sun comes out again

Family car being a 15 year old Lexus GS350 that I've had for about 10 years/55,000 kms and all it needed was an alternator last year and brakes, I can't see MG or BYD doing that.
If your BYD needs a new alternator after 55K it's time to sack your mechanic.

Reflow the solder joints on the socket if you can get to them, they sometimes crack due to flexing.
