Good example of why 60k may seem a lot for an old Mazda but its not. Add up the value of the parts and estimate the hrs from the build thread. Just going down the auction list I would estimate 30k in bits + shell + freight + labour. Worth every cent, actually I would say buyer is being subsidised by current owner.

In NZ the main offering was boot spoiler, and two separate side pieces that mounted on the rear quarters.

I did have a new set, but I think I flicked them off after I sold a project coupe a few years ago.

Bit hard to see in this pic, but spoiler comes around the corner onto the quarters, but is in three pieces.  Many RX-7 S 1's had the same style.

 

Those 3 piece ones look so flippin good on the back of a 3 coupe, love them.

I like the look of the linked one below but doesn't go small enough - I need to bead some 5/8 ali tube. Does anyone know if something that will do 5/8 is available in NZ?

Regarding car prices, i dont know, at a guess I would say a deflationary environment as assets crash followed by staggering inflation as central banks throw the kitchen sink at the economy. I heard the Reserve bank governor mention negative interest rates on the radio recently, also have read we (globally i guess) 4000 yr low rates. There are no rules, we are in unknown territory, literally anything is possible, I just pray it doesn't end in nuclear war.

When/if the bubble... the question of our times,  best to enjoy what you can now, if you have 100k burn it on a Mazda or whatever makes you happy (i would suggest a bunker) if  the everything bubble goes then look the fuck out, end of the world as we know it.
