  1. If I change to a more modern chassis it becomes a 2014 LVVTA Chevrolet Replica, so I have to retain 60% of the original style of chassis. My reasons for looking at jag is they are a complete bolt in unit with power steer, R&P, and 4 pot calipers with vented disks. Plus the jag and chev are very similar weights.
  2. So I'm on the lookout for a Jaguar XJ6 for my front suspension and subframe. Anyone got any reasons why I should or should not use jag?
  3. Very cool, love that era of chevy as you might have guessed. There were a pair of sedans came up for sale recently on TradeMe, a '51 & a '52, that were very reasonably priced but I'd run out of money and space by then haha.
  4. Nah the new cab is in my shed. Chassis is my biggest worry. Will strip it back and take it in to an engineer or someone to look at I think. Hopefully it's repairable, that seems to be the only rusty section.
  5. Got a few more photos today... As you can see, she's in a pretty sad state. So this is my new cab... Only rust is a few little pin holes in the floor. The vents even open and close still!
  6. Not a great shot but you get the idea. Still got a lot of finishing off and tidying up to do.
  7. Alright, still no pics but I'll try get a short video tomorrow. It's up and running again! Very loud, straight out of the headers!
  8. Yeah I priced up all the new rust repair panels from the states and was about to order it all last week, but another cab popped up on TradeMe. So I now have a nice rust free cab straight out of Arizona. I'll have to swap in the RHD dash from my rusty cab but aside from that its perfect. Pics to come. The sign writing is actually quite recent, the previous owner was Jim Russ so his workers made up the sign as a joke The engine in this one is the original 216ci Stovebolt 6. They were splash oiled so didn't run an oil pump.
  9. Looked at a lot of different options. Initial plan was get it roadworthy with as little work as possible and leave it patina, but the body is in such a bad way that I'm going to lose most of the patina through doing bodywork. I'm now thinking modern V8 and auto and modern suspension with a pretty much restored body.
  10. Link to my build thread //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/41874-di0ns-thrifty-thriftmaster/?p=1243736 Use this discussion thread to tell me I'm insane.
  11. While I was overseas last year I managed to find the time to do a quick bit of TradeMe browsing. Now I've always been a fan of American vehicles of the 40's, so when this Chevy popped up locally it caught my eye. I tried for a few days to contact the seller so I could send my brother to take a look but every day I received no reply and every day the trucks price dropped. Eventually I decided enough was enough and hit the buy now from my computer on the other side of the world. Almost immediately the owner emailed me and as luck would have it he owned a tow truck, so it delivered to my driveway, beating me home by three weeks. Here's a few pics of what greeted me when I arrived. Call me crazy over here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/41876-di0ns-thrifted-thriftmaster/
  12. So I got home from overseas in October to find the wagon had leaked both it's trans and engine oil all over my shed floor. I decided the running gear had to come out for repair and the engine bay was in desperate need of a tidy up so rather than waste money on the old RB30 I went out and bought a RB25DE and manual box. Now the bays been painted, the motor and box are in, just got to do a little rewiring. Pics tomorrow.
  13. Haha cheers man. Yeah took a lot of hard work but I'm stoked with it now. Next step is possibly engine mods or swap. Thinking RB25DE and a manual swap or atleast 25 head on the 30 block. Not sure at this stage, I'm off overseas in a month so won't be much progress between now and Christmas.
  14. Finally got the car home and tried on my brothers wheels. What do you think??
  15. Today I refitted all the parts I had removed for painting. It's finally starting to look like a car again. Having a few problems with the power steering so I need to get that sorted before I can drive it home. Anyway here's a picture we took today with my mates phone, sitting on the old wheels still until the new ones get polished. As you can see its sitting lower in the back at the moment so I think I'll have to drop the front some more.
  16. Thanks. There's a bit in the front inner guards and a few bubbles around the scuff plates on the sills, but apart from that it doesn't seem bad.

  18. Six months ago while I was overseas I spotted an R31 Wagon on TradeMe. It was in my home town and the price was right so I sent my brother to go and get it. When I got back home I quickly realised it was nowhere near as tidy as the photos had made it out to be, So i decided the only way to tidy it was to touch up the paint and get new wheels, but a paint touch up turned into a full repaint. And here's a little teaser shot of whats to come... Let me know what you think.
  19. This thing was tons of fun. Used to be epic for parties and just general sunroof stupidity. Glad its being resurrected.
  20. I've got my eye on a project in Paeroa at the moment but I'm away overseas until the 10th of November. Is anyone able to check it out for me so I can give the guy a yes or no on whether I'm keen or not. It's is quite a big project that needs a fair bit of rust work done. PM me if you can and I'll send you the link. Don't want it to sell before I'm home. Thanks, Dion
  21. I vote keep the square light front, much cooler. Very lush bus you've got there dude.
  22. Haha that will be them. Got a 20v flange on them but that's easy to make fit on he 16v.
  23. A guy in Taupo if I remember right. Real stoked with them.
  24. Also purchased a LS400 as a new daily that I'm modifying. Bought it totally stock. Now looks like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/62782240@N07/6688573881/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/62782240@N07/6688574655/
  25. Haha thread resurrection nearly two years on! My wagon has been in storage up until recently when I got motivated again. Now has a 4AGZE mounted to an AE86 crossmember. Just completed the rack and pinion conversion. Hopefully things will progress quicker this time around.
