  1. looks mint, awesome paint scheme, had been considering black roof on white car for mine but i'll probably never get around to painting it anyway. talk to rallitubby on the lancer register about an EX2000 bumper, he's got a contact in hamilton that can do them. he's having one made at the moment for his rallycar. should be interesting to see how they turn out and how much. hanging out to see what you're running. cheers Matt
  2. nah, i changed my mind. ke20's are out. just out of interest how much are you wanting for it though cheers Matt
  3. mean car bro, one of my favourite cars from the nats show and shine. love the red pinstripe, wasn't sure about the red grill but it makes one mint package all together. what's she running??? and any further plans for mod's??? cheers Matt
  4. awesome, i've loved xa/xb/xc coupes for years and the dodgy matt black suits it hard. looks like something straight out of the gang scene's in once were warriors cheers Matt

    Ex Springs?

technically you can't use springs from another car and have it legal without a cert, aftermarket springs have to be made specifically for that car for it to be wofable without a cert. i've heard rumours of using front mk2 escort springs for the rear but only over the net so i can't confirm that they work. seriously if you really want to sack it out its either going to be illegal or its not going to be cheap. you can count on buying springs and a minimum of shortening your front shocks and buying shorter rear shocks. i had my stock lancer springs compressed 3 inches and have new kyb's in the front that have been shortened 25mm and 1st generation mirage shocks in the back (require a minor modification to fit but pretty easy to do). the front handles surprisingly well but there's not a lot of travel in the back and its a pretty bumpy ride back there. next time i'd definitly do the rear end differently. if you want pics to see how my lancer looks this low there's some up in the projects section. all of this stuff will require certification but i'm going to need that for the engine swap anyway so its not too big a deal for me. hope it helps. Matt
  8. tygertung, it has got an LSD, but they definitly won't sell that centre. i'd be in there for sure if they would. cheers Matt
  9. tygertung, i stripped my parts car and sent it to the scrappers months and months ago. i know of a rusty EX1800 down hamilton ways that will have a disc brake diff, i can check if its for sale but chch would be a bloody long way to send something so heavy. madrx4, cheers, i'm hanging out to take it down meremere too. i'm hoping for 13's but i think i'll have some traction problems cause the suspension is a bit too hard in the back. will be happy with 14's or even 15's to start with anyway, just in it for the fun really. cheers Matt
  10. cheers for the offer, i've been talking to the guy for ages on msn, just haven't got him to confirm the part number yet but should do soon. cheers Matt
  11. hey dude, good to see you found your way over here from austarion. can't wait to see the car on the new wheels. would be good to see some engine bay pics too. cheers Matt
  12. extractors look good, especially for that price. what brand?? and are they 2nd hand??? they look pretty new in that pic. would be interested to find out what HPC coating them cost too, i've got some Genie extractors i'm planning on picking up in Aussie for my 2TGTEU and will probably do something similar. cheers Matt
  13. starion coils are meant to be THE shit, as in throw a good solid 2" spark. even bosch GT40's aren't meant to be a decent replacement. problem is the mitsi version is VERY expensive and although bosch does a direct replacement which is meant to be all good i haven't been able to find one in NZ unless i want to import from germany (read $$$). i might have a line on a 2nd hand one from Hamilton, just need to confirm its got the right part number. otherwise i think i will have to import, although i might be able to pick one up in Aussie next month. cheers Matt
  14. nah, that head won't fit the smaller EX diff housing unless you've got an EX1800 housing. from the one's i've looked at (although i've never measured) the mounting points are exactly the same. i've heard this from a few places on the net as well. i think caboonatlarge had one but i'm not sure if he put it in but he might be worth talking to about it. cheers Matt
  15. it goes pretty sweet, haven't actually driven it heaps and when i do i don't go too hard due to the legal status. it spins the wheels pretty easy, especially now i've got shit 195's on the back but it could spin the 205 directionals with good tread as well. it rides really well in the front now i've got the new shocks and the bump steer spacers in but its still a little bumpy in the back, i'm hoping new shocks will sort this out. its not running quite right yet, some sort of spark issue i think. i need a proper starion coil but they're pretty damn hard to find. i'm planning on upping the fuel pressure a little but i need a gauge to set this up and then i'll start adding a little boost. hopefully this should sort out all the little issues and then i'll either dyno it, take it down to meremere, or both. won't be til i get back from my big trip though which is in August. as usual, oldschool will be the first to know the results though cheers Matt
  16. looks like some nice work with the fuel pump setup and all that, would definitly like to see some better pics with a bit more light, and yeah, how much of a mission wiring up the n/a fuel injected motor??? cheers Matt
  17. cool car mate, i got a love for the hachi go's and roku's. used to have an AE85 myself that i never got round to doing much too. still heaps of fun though when you can manage to get a wheel spinning with the mighty power of the 3A. you should have an even easier time of it than me with that performance transmission seriously though for the engine you'd be crazy to go past a 4AGE. heaps of people have done it which sort of sucks but 3SGTE is a pretty expensive option and anything else would probably be even worse $ wise. cheers Matt
  18. i got this done at arkro powdercoating on porana rd in glenfield. had to get the sandblasting done separately but i just went round the corner, there's a place on archers rd. most powdercoaters should be able to do the same thing though but this guy just does small runs so you don't have to wait for your job (mine was same day). if you're going for a really common colour like black or white you're probably better off going elsewhere because it would be cheaper if they were doing a big run of the same colour. cheers Matt
  19. pics with new wheels on, there's about 30mm at the back so i could fit some spacers back there but i don't think i will. i quite like the way the wheels tuck up into the guards. think i might have to stay with the high profile (60, not 55) tyres too, its getting pretty damn close to the ground as it is. and a pic of the new shiny bits in the engine bay. i took a few pics but this is the only one that turned out ok, need some decent light to get some good pics, might try again tomorrow. cheers Matt
  20. been doing some powdercoating and i bought some new wheels. wheels are 15" motoform sekters (spelling???) in fairly good condition (couple of small kerb marks and couple of scratches) with crappy but wofable 195/60/15's. will be putting some 45 or 50 profile tyres on there when i can find them but they'll do for now. i've been looking for a decent set of these for a while and i paid $255 on trademe which i'm pretty happy with but would be interested in hearing whether i got a good deal or not??? powdercoating was after looking at some very nice sohc engine bays on the austarion forums and deciding i'd have a play. its cost me $120 for this lot, half each for the sandblasting and the powdercoating. the finish for the powdercoating is damn nice, i'm very happy with the colour and its been clear powdercoated as well so it should be easier to keep clean. i'm off to install it now so i'll take a couple of pics of that when its done too (except the inlet manifold, want to get the rest of that done before i install the new stuff) cheers Matt

    4g63t turbos

sweet, thats good to know, will definitly make it easier to upgrade. cheers Matt
  22. and is that a hook up price cause you're a mate or a normal price??? just bought another set of 15's, might need some tyres for them soon i think. cheers Matt

    4g63t turbos

has anybody put a TD turbo on a TC manifold??? i always thought that they had a different exhaust manifold pattern??? i know the outlet to the exhaust is different (unless you've got a late model 12 valve engine), 3 bolt unstead of 4 but this wouldn't be a major to get around. would definitly be interested to find out for sure, i've been planning a bit of a TC05/TC06/TD05 combo (housings from the TC's and internals from the TD are meant to make a pretty good combination) but TD05 would be a hell of a lot easier. cheers Matt
  24. i think the 9's on the back look awesome, i hate to say it but it might be better to go with 8's on the front. even with the 9's that dish is mega cool, suits the car hard with those flares on. cheers Matt
  25. haven't done a lot lately, xmas has killed me off money wise. found a cam cover on a pajero over at pick a part while i was looking for seatbelts so i put that on this morning, looks heaps better: old new got a different inlet manifold for it too, its meant to have better flow because of the shape but there's some minor differences in the wiring so not sure if i'll be using it yet. besides that i'm looking for seatbelts for it, fronts should be easy, rear's might be a little more difficult because they're not hidden, they sit up on the rear parcel shelf under plastic covers and i'm having problems finding something that matches. cheers Matt
