  1. those engines are hard to get any good parts for and are generally hard to modify ive been told, although i have seen an anglia running a dohc engine from a telstar that went pretty nice, about 145bhp
  2. i havent had any rubbing since i had it done. beforehand it was cutting away at the tyre so big difference
  3. if you want any more tell me what angle you want
  4. rather large but cant be bothered resizing, couldnt be bothered taking wheels off either
  5. i got my mk1 escort gaurds rolled i can send u pics of that, would be much the same as a mk2
  6. man u gotta love a deloomed engine bay *drool* whats that pipe running down the left side of the engine bay? part of the brake booster? and where did you get that thermostat housing from? i want a nice shiny one for my xflow, very nice car

    1200cc

putting a bigger engine into a car is probably easier than turboing it although its probably debateable
  9. some sierras had shitty carbs on them i think

    column change

why would you want to make your car into column change? also, the 2000e gearbox is the only ford one that is in cortinas that is column change although it is quite outdated now, it can handle about 170hp max i think, but dont quote me on that
  11. yea they are but freight cost is insane
  12. lol that would be nice but i doubt it will happen:'(
  13. also, if you didnt realise, i just put in a 2.5 lock to lock quickrack yesterday from palmside, so awesome, just have to get the car realigned tomorrow
  14. kendalls is 425 for one w/o a headrest and 650 with but its 160 for rails and you have to add gst, i'll be getting 1 seat w/o headrest so it will cost about 660 inc rails and gst. But then burton is about 1200nz for 2, but then you have to think about freight time too. either way its expensive i'll be getting black vinyl as leather is about twice the price yea rocker cover cost me 200 when i bought the engine
  15. Comments and complaints to //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/18672-reteps-mk1/page-1?hl=retep Thought i'd put up some pics of my car and what i'll be doing to it. I'll just be putting in a 1600 from a mk2 cortina which is a 691 block instead of a 711 but it has been tested and it has been used in a few cars before getting reconditioned. I'll be putting a 32/36 on it for the moment but the last owner ran twin sidedraughts on it fine so that will be some thing for the future. It will be getting a 2 inch exhaust made for it by woolf mufflers for around $450 with coby extractors and 2 mufflers, with a pipe coming out the end, im not a fan of big cannons sticking out the back, just a 2 inch straight pipe . im also putting in a facet solid state fuel pump and a regulator. my genuine 13x6 minilites with 205/60r13 eagers, the tyres dont really give good traction but they look good, the white coming off the tosps of the G and the E are from when i put the tyres on and before the gaurds were cut and rolled so a bit of damage occured beforehand, ouch. picture of the engine to be going in, like the nice rocker cover aye aye notice the fuel pump already covered up, also my flywheel is drilled to fit an 8 inch clutch although the splines are for a standard escort gearbox, have been told it was from a escort van. another pic of the rocker cover picture of the clutch, good condition A shot of my old steering rack, even though it is hard to see, its pretty bent at the other end. i would have taken a pic of my new rack but i was so eager to get it in i forgot Current interior of my car, i'll do it up once i can be bothered getting the rust taken out of the floor - new carpet and a gauge or two and a new drivers seat, i dont care about the passenger at the moment. also i may be getting a larger steering wheel depending on how the new quick rack goes, i am looking at getting a cobra classic bucket seat from kendalls too but i need to come to terms with the price first Im hoping to repaint my engine bay when i change the engines over to the colour of toyotas blue that it has on the latest hilux, i see it as a 21st century version of my colour. Later the whole car may be painted but at the moment the cost of getting a good job done is too prohibitive and takes too long considering it is my only car and i dont want to ride my scooter everywhere I'll get a good picture of my car later.
  16. the blue light is probably the high beams but if it shows up even when the ignition is off then the wires might be bypassing the ignition switch somewhere along the line

    1600 and 5spd

well i just found out today that i already have a pinto clutch and pressure plate and already have a re-drilled flywheel, except that it still has a xflow spline... the guy said it may be a clutch from a escort van as they had a heavier duty clutch to handle the extra weight so he said to bring in the clutch and he will just change the spline over alot easier than i thought, now i just have to make sure i have the right bellhousing
  18. well everyone has to be a novice at some point
  19. you should get your temp gauge working as it is rather important
  20. getting them rolled is alot easier and costs about 150 at a panel beater also you could maybe get the wheels realigned if its only the left wheel rubbing

    1600 and 5spd

what about getting a clutch that fits a xflow flywheel etc with a 1x23 spline to fit the gearbox. also just looking at the gearbox, i think the bellhousing is from a standard escort gearbox but if theres someone out there with a standard escort gearbox could you take a pic of it so i can see if theres any difference. Ive had a look on the burton website but its on a weird angle so i cant tell, thanks

    SU carbs?

arent su carbs hard to tune too

    1600 and 5spd

but i want to keep the xlfow flywheel, i dont want to use the pinto one at all, using a 5 speed seems like very hard work
