thanx for the tip would really like to see your APs got any pics? im not a member of trade me otherwise i might bid pm me if the auction falls over. my discs are 250dia/25mm thick the same dia as mk3 corty. i was goin to space mk3 corty calipers but the extra 10mm made them foul the back of the hub face[back of studs] how wide are the APs from the outside pad face to the front of the casting ?

thanx for that dude. i had priced up some wilwoods but i figured that i could buy and recon the volvos for less. caliper kits are about $30 OR $100 to get them resleeved and kitted. the wilwoods cost $500+gst plus mounting + piping etc for the pair where as i could do most of the work for the volvos myself. how much did they want for the volvos? if u ring again just make sure that they are for a vented disc not a solid cause they make 4 spots for both. apparantly 1980s 6 cyl calipers bolt on

hi guys . i have my ma61 toyota calipers mounted on my mk2 struts but my idea of using mk3 corty calipers spaced 10mm is not gonna work due to clearance issues. DOES ANYONE know of a caliper for a vented disc 250dia - 25mm thick that will bolt on to a mk2 corty strut. ive been told that 80s volvo vented 4 spots will bolt on so if anyones got some PLEASE sell them to me any onfo would b greatly appreciated cheers dave
  10. im pretty sure thats the donkey that WBDX is lookin at its a CA18ET SOHC 8 plug as used in early 80s silvias and gazelles
  11. check this out http://www.geocities.com/silviazxturbo/enginestats.html
  12. so was there a 8 plug version of the sr20det? if so they must b rare as i asked a friend who has worked in the engine importing business for 10 years and hes never seen or heard of one. thats not saying they dont exist as he sez the japs do lots of wierd and wonderful things as experiments on the unsuspecting public to see if it would work or not
  13. so is it an SR or CA designated engine in an s14?
  14. pretty safe to say its probably a ca18/20 twin spark check to see if it has a iron block/alloy head its most likely out of a s12 silvia still cheap at $500 if its all sweet
  15. im not 100% sure but i dont think they made a twin spark sr20 more than likly its a ca18 twin spark out of an 80s silvia they still go well and are reliable, normal mods work the same as any other turbo motor i dont think they made the 8 plug version for very long as the performance is very similar to the regular 4 plug ca18 i stand corrected if any of this info is wrong but i hope it helps dave

    dreaming of blown4s

a guy here in hastings has an sc14 on a 12a brigy with 650 holley on top. has custom toothed pulleys pumps 10lbs @6000rpm i think its geared 1-1 has found if he spins it any faster it actually loses power due to heat caused by the blower spinning faster than it is designed to. has had it dynoed to find this out after he popped an engine trying to get 14lbs is making 290hp @ wheels @7000rpm. its in a 700kg t bucket with 5spd its real scary hard to keep a straight line under full throttle
  17. i wouldnt bother man a mate had a 2.3 v6 in a mk1 esky never really went that good was better with the pinto he took out. the 2.3s are a bit like the ford v4 good idea but badly executed by ford they didnt have enough power to pull the skin off a savaloy in a mk5 waste of time without doing some serious mods to it cheaper to do up a 2lt pinto

    308 questions

yeah i know but having driven a 308 powered LJ i still think the six would have been qiker around a race trak the one i drove had heaps of grunt but was way to heavy in the front and understeered badly when pushed on a windy road they wouldve had to do alot of work on the front ends and brakes. the LH/LX was much better suited to a v8 just a bit more solid

    308 questions

yeah i had a vn v6 in a LC gtr torana went like a cut cat and did 30mpg on the open road with 3.5 diff gears did 14.2/98mph at the strip on stock engine/trans with 2.5in exhaust and cold air intake only. i think the late v6s have more hp and torque than the carby v8 commodes also alot lighter torrie only weighed 1080kg with almost 50/50 weight distrubution

    308 questions

yeah more than likely if it has no emission gear on the heads its a red there is really bugger all differance between them anyway the later motors make a little more power due to better head design but bugger all if you were gonna work it up go for vn or later heads with the proper manifold and cam costs a bit but the results are way better as the late heads are 200% better than the early ones. does it have 308 stamped on the block? if not it might b a 253 dont worry about the trimatic they can build them real strong these days just as good as a turbo 350 but lighter and less power sapping dave

    308 questions

red 308s are pre commodre and had a trimatic stud pattern where blue / black 308s had a chevy pattern for gmh turbo 350/400 trans though vl calais were trimatic but i thick they were an oddball setup limited run of blocks blue and blacks also have emmision gear on them where the red doesnt some hx/hz/wb holdens also had blue motors with chevy pattern banjo diffs the head comes out the front like a 9 inch and salsbury v8 diffs have a back hat like a chevy 10/12 bolt diffs
  22. 4 grand! jesus boy u got 2 much money. that much would get ya a fully adjustable setup prob more like 1-2 for a good alround set up
  23. just remember that low isnt everything it may look cool but remember ya have to be able to drive it its no use if its only good on a perfectly smooth road and you live in hawkes bay so u know none of the roads are good. its just shit if the exhaust or some other part of the car hits the road on any major bump or if ya have more than 1 passenger aboard. its better to have a sane ride height with a good spring and shock package so it looks good but handles well also. ya can have both it just depends how much $ ya want to spend. or ya can AIRBAG it so it sits on the sills when ya park up at the repco car park[private hawkes bay joke]
  24. yeah sounds like shit in the fuel lines/carby take the carb off and clean it out then put a filter b4 the carb should b sweet then
