  1. Picked up sweet new shortened hilux LSD diff from mate in chch who did it for me. Running disc brakes on rear now of the u12 bluebird type with EBC pads. Test fitted it and shock mounts line up fine. Tramp bars have to be sent back to him to be made ajustable as they don't quite fit. And scored some new U-bolts off my flatmate to suit the obviously wider housing, just have to get new plates, or the old plates redrilled with the holes in correct position. Then it's a matter of getting the handbrake setup which uses a completly different way to the standard capri one but a fucking way better way at that! a "u" shaped cable off each calliper then a single cable from the middle of that cable to the handbrake itself. The brakes I will just need a custom bit of hose made up from the splitter on the diff to the line that's already run under the car where the old bit connected to. Fair bit of work to get into but I'll get there..

  4. I have an electric autometer speedo, had it running on the old carb motor. Had a magical sender box from gearbox I believe. Had it made up, can't even remember where. Pointless post almost but it can be done.
  5. Took it in for glow plugs to be checked bout 2 weeks ago, apparently they are fine, will get second opinion though. Tried glowing it more than once and doesn't help. We shall see..cheers
  6. Ok so it's not oldschool, but maybe someone can help me out because most people here are pretty clued up it seems. I have a 95 hiace, 3l turbo, the 1kz-te motor. Problem I'm having is, is starting. It cranks over excessively when cold (i.e in the mornings) sometimes untill it runs the battery dead. When it does start it blows extreme amounts of white and dark smoke out untill it is warm. Most the time it has trouble starting anytime, but not as bad as when it is cold. Outruling the starter motor and battery because these seem fine. Thing that gets me is, it runs fine when driving, has heaps of pull and doesn't miss a beat, blows a bit of smoke though, not alot more than expected from a diesel motor. Anyone have any ideas or past experiences with these motors, is it dying on me? Have heard that the valve seals may be shot and oil leaking down into the bores is making it hard to start, possiblility?

    d.p.n.s yea I remember seeing RT using the v6 one, but no, mine is not the v6 diff, just one that was running behind a 1600 very very originally I believe

    Eke zetec, I do plan on dragging it on the odd occasion yea, at the mo it's just running 17" dunlop direzzas. Will probably sort some smaller back wheels with grippier tyres when I drag it, however that's after it's all running first! I really didn't think that the capri diff would stand up to the power running through it aye, surprised yours is, your making a fair whack of power, maybe I underestimate them, still going hilux though Only thing I'm hoping is I can hook the brakes up myself when I get the hilux diff back, all the handbrake setup etc. May be more help questions to come yet haha.

    Yea I'm so glad I spoke to him now aye, so fuckin' onto it it's not funny. Not going "properly" had it idiling but to rich, had the computer upgraded to v5 software for tuning reasons, assume that why it doesn't start now.. Nothing wrong with diff apart from the fact I'm 99% sure it'll die pretty quick. Keen to do it right the first time and have it strong as for when it comes time to drag etc.

    Low'n'slow, yea I begin taking pics of the whole thing if you wish, probably will anyways for my own documentation. Spoke to mate who's doing it for me said still uses a cable handbrake as part of calliper. Cables will just need modding. Has mounts that use u12 bluebird discs and callipers also. Seems he has a whole lot made up.

    OK so finally decided the next step with capri. Going to go down the hilux diff route. Have a mate in chch that is going to shorten it and make it up for me. I've been recomended to go discs rather than drums and here lies my question.. How hard/what do you need that's different to hook them up rather than the drums setup? First time I've done this, am going to start pulling old diff out soon so any related info would be helpful! Cheers
  12. ^^ Heard about that but that's it. Runamuck, yea that will probably be the one your thinking of, it's from/built in america, crazy machine. The awards sucked so bad, I don't know what they were thinking, didn't seem to be many oldschool awards at all etc and even though there were about 100 tropheys, I feel they still missed about 20 of the important ones.

Didn't get pics. Drags were sweet, saw SOLJAH in his EX, looks like it goes fukn well. The aussie cars was sick. Anyone got any vids of the pac car?

  20. The boost controller or tap will tee off the wastegate line anyhow since thats what it's controllered through won't it? Then can just tee the boost guage off the bov which shouldn't matter.
  21. Ive got vacuum lines running off the back of the intake to bov, external, FPR and brake booster. I need to tee off these for a boost gauge and a boost tap or electronic boost controller. What I want to know it can I tee off one line twice, i.e chuck to tee pieces off say the FPR line for boost gauge and boost tap? Just wondering if it's going to affect anything doing so? Or should I tee each off seperate lines? Not sure if it matters or not..cheers
  22. Right so final thing basically is to lengthen the driveshaft. What I'd like to know is when I measure it, how much should I pull out from tight in the gearbox spline end to accomodate for suspension travel etc? So pushing it tight into the gearbox, how much should it need to come out to allow for the odd movement it will have? Cheers
