  1. Shit just spotted this. If your cortina is anything to go by then this is going to be one sick van. Keep the progress coming!
  2. God damn that's frikin' mint dude. My turbo would fit inside your one lol. Can't wait to see what sort of power it's going to make!

    Couple q's

Oil Breather rather, yea. So can run one from the breather in the block then the other to the oil cap. Cheers for the info, will hunt out a one way valve.

    Couple q's

Hey, Just sorting the last of the bits to make the motor go now and was wondering, one of the outlets on the plenum goes to the brake booster doesnt it? Got told it can't because the plenum is pressurised and doesnt have vaccum?? Also the oil breather, one line going into it from somewhere down bottom of block from sump and then was going to return it to the cap in the valve cover but then got told it's pointless coz that also needs a small amount of vaccum. Then the same person suggested that to get the small amount of vaccum required, that the top pipe for the breather should be tapped into the intake for the turbo. This doesn't really make sense to me. Can someonme set me straight with those two things, am I right, or is this other person right? And, if you know of anyone with a late mk3 or mk4/5 cortina diff that wants to part with it can you let me know as that's the last thing I need before I can turn the key. Cheers, Josh
  5. Haven't updated for quite some time, mainly because nothing has been done! It's sat in the garage not going for about 1.5 years now, it was supposed to be a couple month engine conversion haha. So yeh, been slack/lack of money/2 morgages sucks dick. Anywho, it's back on track now and coming along nicely. Have a custom clutch fork all made up and now have a working clutch, new oil cooler in and all mounted up, surge tank set up is almost complete. Trying to decided on a diff to use currently also, thinking hilux or rx7 but also there's the V6 capri one on the cards, not sure at this stage. Will update as more progress progresses with some pics.
  6. Detailing an engine bay is just a cunt. But like everyone has said, run all the wiring etc through the guards, under chassis rails and anything else you just literally hide it where you can. I think some piping etc looks better seen that absolutly everything hidden. Heres my engine bay, Not everything is hidden as you can see but it's decently tidy and took a lot of time and effort to get it that way. I'm not sure what part of NZ you are in but there are loads of people that do chroming and polishing, just look it up in your phone book. A trick with polishing mild steel also, i think it's mild steel, is since it will eventually go rusty again as moisture gets to it, you coat with clear coat reasonably well and it won't get surface rust, a couple parts of mine that I had done are still good after almost a year now.
  7. Haha for sure. Sweet might check the prices on that place. Flick me a pm with your number some time and I'll hit you up when I get up there
  8. I'm coming up to the Bodom concert at the end of June which is at the transmission room. Being from the south Island and not having been to Auckland before, just wondering if anyone knows of accommodation nearby the venue at all? Cheers
  9. Thanks for the offer man, but I won't be down now as I'm selling the subbie on Sunday. Gutted I can't come down for it all, but selling it, means getting the capri going asap Cheers anyway.
  10. So who's going etc?? I'm coming down on Friday night, taking the subbie, entering the drags on Sunday in it, so look out for it, should be a laugh.
  11. Damn it crept up on me this year, got asked at autosalon to put car in it "yea bro I'll have the capri running no sweat by then and bring it down" and here where are 3 or 4 months later and it still doesnt go Last years was pretty sweet, apart from it was muddy as fuck
  12. That looks realllllllly sweet!!!! Fuck thats cool. Only thing could change would be the black rear bumper to red. Other than that, i wish I had it
  13. I'm pretty confident I won't be done by then so probably a no from me, don't think I'll bother trailering it and pushing it around again. God damn your new plans sound awesome for your car
  14. Shiiiit that's nice man!! I think you will have yours done before mine, race of the turbo pintos
  15. Yuh I might be, out in inagahua (sp?) right?
  16. Damn I meant the other way around, approx 9.5 to the rail and 8mm back? I have the smallest fitting I could get to fit the fuel pump outlet and the push lock will only take a 9.5mm hose minimum. Should I just get a 10mm pipe and a 8mm pipe and make a reducer out of the two just after the pump?
  17. I'm running 8mm i.d line to the fuel rail and will it matter if I run about 9.5mm back to the tank??
  18. That's how mine is setup also, sweet got it right haha
  19. Would cranking it over without actually starting it do sucessfully to or na?
  20. I'm just about ready to crank the capri over now, almost got the fuel setup sorted, it's running a surge tank setup, lift pump and main fuel pump etc. What I was wondering is there anything special you have to do before starting the fuel pumps etc for the first time, like priming it or anything?? If so how do I go about it, cheers

    Fuels lines in car

Mint, lots of good info there. Already got the efi rubber stuff filthy so will use that. Didn;t know that the steel stuff was that easy to bend eh otherwise may have gone with it. As for running across the boot floor then down the other side, well the exhuast starts on the right of the car and crosses over underneath and comes out the right. Whichever way I look at it, it's got to cross the exhaust or otherwise go like 1.5m extra and still get really close. I will cut a piece of RT and burn it, make me feel better and what not. Where do you get that heat shield stuff? I'll wrap the exhaust in heat wrap but cant you get foil type stuff that's like a heat shield, would be good to wrap the hose in.

    Fuels lines in car

Because that just looks like a right cunt to bend all that up/need a bending device,, and I already have the efi rubber stuff.

    Fuels lines in car

Yea was just checking anyhow. I'm just worried about the rubber lines being close to the exhaust/having to cross over it at one point was all. All good will just run it underneath, not to much of a big deal, have to heat wrap the lines and exhaust or something.
  24. Are you allowed to run fuel lines through the car ie, under carpet?? Im thinking no, but can it be covered with a cert or anything? Would make life so much easier if you could..
