  1. 1970 Mazda 1500 sedan. I found it in Brisbane approx 5 years ago and bought it back with me. Its done 67,000 miles. 3 speed auto, bench seat. Plastic still on the doors and sunvisors. Completely original except for 50mm lowering job and the fake whitewalls !

    Bike Carbs

    I fitted a set of Honda CB750 carbs to my hillman imp many moons ago. Seemed to work well. Good throttle response and sounded great a high revs. I fitted a 2 liter fuel tank in the rear just above the carbs because they are gravity fed. I then fitted a return line back to the tank in the front and the fuel just kept recirculating. Looked a bit rangi but at least it worked !     opps my bad, was sposed to say 4M turbo, not 5M . Sometimes i get the T's and the G's etc mixed up lol but i know what tryna write down as its all in my head.

    Factory 5M Turbo 170 HP same power as the 5MGEU 2.8 twin cam NA engine. The 5MGEU is quite a cool looking engine, looks like an old jag motor, good low down torque but still revs hard. Approx 15 years ago i used to own 2 supras, one with each of these engines. The N/A went alot better tho.
  5. Make a chassis for it out of 75 x 50 mm box, use a cortina or herald front end (double wishbone) basic 4 link rear and a leyland V8. Thats probly what i would do, but i guess it all depends on your skill ability.

  7. I used to have one that i started doing a transplant in but due to having to many things on the go i gave up. I was fitting a nissan march engine and 5 speed box, .it was an all alluminium 16 valve 1300cc 4 cylinder with fuel injection. engine and box will fit without to much dramas.

    Makes good sence what you say about if im running around at 1800 RPM, its something i did not think about and will take into consideration. Its going to be petrol powered, no deisel here !

    What its going in is top secret at the moment, but after a few calculations i need a box to handle 600-800 HP and between 1600 to 2000 NM of torque. Im not familia with a C6 trans, but i have heard of a C4, ive also been told a C4 can be modified to handle alot of power. People have also been saying a Power glide is a better option. I will be fitting a 2000 to 3000 rpm stall converter. Car will be used for the street.
  10. Looking at fitting an auto to a project im building. I need a good strong box capible of handeling 400 + HP It also needs to have a removable bellhousing. Ive been looking at Turbo 350 transmissions, but they all seen to come with the bellhousing incorperated. Powerglide is another option but id like more than 2 gears. C4 transmissions are again another option, who knows whats better ? What type has the most avalible parts, whats cheaper to rebuild, whats stronger etc etc. This may not be the site to ask about them, but im not sure where else to go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  11. got the escort going now ! took 3 days in total. im going to post pictures and details of exactly what i used and how it was done.

  13. I guess if you only have to beat it a little bit, it doesnt matter, im talking about beating the whole tunnel up with a hammer, now thats ruff lol
  14. No real problems with this conversion, just make sure you build it on a flat surface and double check all your measurements befor you weld it back together
  15. Im interested in this aswell, will the stanard escort drive shaft fit into the cortina gearbox ?
  16. some people like myself couldnt bring them to beat the tunnel with a hammer, i consider it a bit ruff. If you had a spare shell lying round that was auto, cutting the tunnel out and welding it into the car your building is definatly a good idea, personally i would just cut the factory tunnel to accomodate the new gear box.

  18. I put an MX5 engine in into a RWD 323 was an easy fit, ask me questions and ill tell you everything yopu need to know, i used the MX5 gearbox with a RX7 tailshaft and bongo van selectors
  19. What gearbox is used behind a capri V4 engine. Are the bellhosings on the V4 only for that engine ? Any help would be great.

  22. yeah that all makes sence, maybe its somthing we can look into at a later date, purchased a set of off the shelf headers yesturday especially for the 2 liter to escort conversion.
  23. I has crossed my mind, but we wont do it, as with most things we just dont have the budget.
