nup thats my 1600. Car looks mean, I've seen a debumpered rear end before, but the one I'd seen has all the bumps n whatnot smoothed over, looks alot better I reckon. Very tidy ride

No it's a 1600, I think. From that angle you would'nt be able to see the top of the waterpump if it was only a 1300, I compared it with one of my engine pics... http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/5167/engine18tm.jpg

Rebuilding would be your easiest and probably cheapest option. Next option would be to whack a 2L in there, commonly called the pinto, found in your everyday Seirra, pretty much straight swap, although exhaust and intake are on the opposite sides to your crossflow, so theres a few extra things you have to do like rerouting the exhuast etc. Nothing tooo major. 4AGE would go real well, and theres alot of parts/bolt on upgrades available, although I've never seen this conversion done in the flesh I imagine it wouldn't be too hard

I think 1300's have flat valve's whereas the 1600 heads have a curved valve, thats where the added compression comes from

Ye. Putting a 1300 head on the 1600 block increases the compression ratio It sounds moderately worked, from the info you've given us. I wouldn't say that the carb would be letting you down, it seems in proportion to the rest of the engine specs. Have a look at the carb and try get a number off it so we know what it is for sure

What size engine is in your escort??? And is that the carb that you are running? a 32/36 weber is very popular carb to use and going to something bigger or sidedraughts will likely cost quite alot.

    Exhaust gasket

SAME HERE!!! hard launches and I get a knock, or going over bumps.

    Exhaust gasket

I'm fully in exactly the same situation as you Jerm, my rubber's look twisted and worn and I'm sure it moves way too much. A guy at VTNZ told me (he used to be a ford mechanic) that I should put a bracket from the exhaust underneath the passenger side floorpan across to the gearbox, other wise theres too much weight on the extractors and they will move and eventually crack? This may also help...

    Exhaust gasket

Yea I keep blowing that middle section out too even with the good type of gasket that RT described. And now I snapped a stud too so it sounds even more haneous How about getting the face of the extractors shaved??? Is it possible when there is three seperate parts that bolt up to the head??? If you get me

    Welder

Orrrr... bash it with a hammer??? I'm sure it doesnt need to be that much smaller does it??? Is it hitting the crossmember?
  15. Coming along nicely indeed. The turbo looks a thousand times better all smooth and shiny. Definately agree that high mount turbo's = the best. Looks all clean and professional, looks like you've spent the hours on it so hopefully it treats you well. Is it staying silver? You definately need to sort us out with more pictures Keep at it
  16. You want to adjust the air/fuel mixture screw. I've tried playing around with it but its kind of hard to tell what your doing unless your good with carbs. Your supposed to turn the idle up a bit, then fiddle with the screw till you get it right and then wind the idle down so that it runs smooth. It's fairly obvious which screw it is I think.

    My New MK3 'Tina

No I assure you, its straighter than a ruler bar the one smooth curve where it goes over the diff, and its not too loud, Wouldn't even notice its modified if I drove nanna styles
  18. Build Thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/18469-solidstripes-datsun-c110-skyline/ Your wheels aren't bad, I like them over reflex's. But I would probably choose something slightly different. Just had a browse and Lenso Type 2's look quite nice... http://www.lensowheel.com/product_pass.htm

I don't have a rear 'muffler' I just have the two coby's. They are cheap ~$60 new?

    My New MK3 'Tina

Host them using http://www.imageshack.us Yea I'd say the rumbling would be the diff. I have a 1600ohv in my mk2 escort, its fairly standard but I put on extractors and all new 2 1/4" pipe with 2x coby 14" x 2 1/8" resonaters, it sounds quite good, not droninhg or overly loud but if you give it some gas it sounds like its got some balls
