  1. how do we enter?is it on the day like usual meets or cos its nationals is it a bit more serious anyone able to enter?will be my first time racing so 50/50 as if this is the day to do it but wanna get sum practice in before 4 n rotors
  2. yea a 250lb spring that is 300mm long is actually physically different to a 250lb spring that is 250mm long (i.e differnet size wire different number of turns etc) but they both compress identically thats what the 250lb bit is if you cut the 300mm long spring down to 250mm it would no longer be a 250lb rated spring
  3. yea thats about the only thing i can think of causing it its all sorted now anyways
  4. dunno never tested them swaped the ones i have in there now for them they were meant to be 250
  5. cheers guys yea its had me stumped it definately wasnt hanging up on anything as i could wind them down as low as i wanted and it would drop springs just wernt captive i got the springs rated by autolign this week they came out dead on 250lbs so thats not the problem my solution was to take the shocks in and get them shortened another 20mm like you said truenotch keeper springs just wernt going to do the job im peicing my cooilovers back together now, good news is the springs are captive when there just sitting there now i just gotta see what height it turns out at
  6. i saw ya at the brougham rd/ensors road lights the other night and i have seen u a couple of times in the arvo by the fendalton rd/memorial ave bp mines in the garage with a couple of little problems should hopefully have all the bugs ironed out soon
  7. ahh so thats u rolling those wheels, noticed the wheels were the ones from here, seen u a couple of times in the last few days looks good
  8. i did mine properly with a hammer no problems getting cert, you cant really see it though and i dont know how much yours will need biggest problem i have now come across is i think in the process of bashing the frweall i cracked my heater core and it has leaked
  9. ok no piccy update car has been on the back burner the last month as my old man passed away suddenly my cert plate finally turned up today after a bit of a mess around from wayne, gotta expect that unfortunately my heater unit has also decided to start leaking, i found a nice big puddle on my passenger footwell, id say from my sweet firewall mods to fit the motor (bfh ftw!!) so i think for summer im just guna bypass it then rip it out after and get the core fixed up, fit some new carpet and maybe try get a better dash or get mine recovered my front struts are out again aswell trying to fix up my height/spring rate/captivity problem, so its actually certd about 20mm higher in the front than it will be hopefully that doesnt cause me to many issues with the popo
  10. gbox will bolt up will need 6bolt rwd 4g63 flywheel only difference between the rwd 4g63 flywheel and the 4g32 u have is one has a 5 bolt crank (4g32) and the 4g63 has a 6 bolt crank you will then need a clutch plate to match the 1600cc gbox as it will have a 20 spline (i think its that, either way its definately less than the 2l gboxes) shaft whereas the 2litre boxes have a 23 spline shaft im not sure if the 2l and 1600cc pressure plates are the same might be best to compare your new flywheel with your old for bolt holes etc, but i suspect they will be all the same in that regard too as they are identical size p.s ur guna have to bash the fuck outta your firewall cos i bet uv got even less room than my car
  11. lol yea they most gayballs thing about this for me is my car has just been certed at 20mm higher than its going to be as i ran out of time to sort it before cert so im guna have to explain to the cops that my spring is captive and my ride height adjustable so its not that important i can see a greeny coming my way sooner or later for a bullshit reason least i can just wind them up so there within that 5% margin for warrents
  12. 70 id is too big for me anyways mine are like 63 i think plus i donnt think id be able to fit 20mm in there theyd still sit the spring too high looks like machining it is is 40mm overall alot to machine a shock down?
  13. could you please find ur keepers sentra just wanna know what height they are fully compressed really do you have to put a plate between them and the main spring or can u just run them up against each other? and would ya sell a set if there guna work?
  14. nah exact same spring rate thats whats got me farked they should compress the same amount no matter what length they are if there the same spring rate correct? but if that was the case i wouldnt have a problem would i? maybe these springs are a different rate than the others?thats the onlt conclusion im coming to but just wanting to make sure my maths inst farked up or im missing something else
  15. im guna try race on the 10th too so id be out too
  16. nah dont think you quite get what im saying the coilovers are custom made not off the shelf, they got me as low as i wanted, weve chopped 3 inches out of the strut when the sleves were fitted and fitted shorter inserts theyve got massive amounts of travel then when i put them in the car realised i wanted to go a bit lower than that so figured wind them down a bit (ended up being at the bottom) and shorten the shock to keep them captive no problems there, i imagine if i had put these back in the car there would have been no problems??? excpet i would have had no adjustment at the same time i got the springs swapped for shorter length ones the exact same spring rate (fuel this is where it shouldnt matter in relation to what ur saying i think ) this means they should compress the same amount as any other spring with the same spring rate, when they have the same weight applied to them, no matter what the length of the coil is (spring rate is calculated using number of turns, coil diameter and length) so maybe the wrong spring rates?fucked if i know what im talking about, physics was a few years ago now thing is now i dunno if id fit a keeper in there as ive only got 10-15mm before i run out of adjustment again and the keeper i imagine would be larger than that size on full compressed so it will effectively raise the car again
  17. nah had to swap the 250mm springs for the 300mm ones with autolign, that way it dont cost me anything so i cant recheck them unfortunately if i have to machine the shocks ill do it be i have no idea why the hell it isnt sweet as is, just wondering if im missing something only other thing i can think of is the springs are a different rate maybe, but they still had the sticker on them saying what they were and that was the same as my old ones
  18. im starting to get really fucked off with my front coilovers had 300mm length coil over springs in it had them wound all the way down to the bottom of the thread and was at a nice ride height but the springs were about 10-15mm uncaptive so i took the shocks out and got them shortened 20mm and at the same time swapped the springs over for some in the same spring rate that were 250mm length so that i had some ability to go lower if i wanted so i put it all back in and had the lower spring seat 30mm form the bottom (50mm shorter springs - the 20mm of shock ive had chopped off) and the thing is way higher than it was before, ive takin it for a few drives so it should all be settled ive had to drop the spring perch but another 15-20mm to get it to sit at the same height so my springs are even more uncaptive than they were before?? what the farks going on the maths just doesnt add up to me?surely i dont have to take another 20mm off my shocks?im sick of taking the damn things in and out and stripping them down
  19. definately give the fpr its own seperate t if you tee it with other stuff then if anything leaks/comes off ur guna be running it lean and pop brakes should also be seperate cos thats just a safety thing bov, boost gauge etc arent such a problem cos if the stop working for a bit its not guna blow ur engine up
  20. need to have somewhere with a good decent sized parkup area plus a leaving area, woolworths/mitre10 mega in ferrymead would b an allright meetup spot, nice big carpark
  21. legally you cant have either, must be the plates issued doesnt mean you wont get away with it though
  22. where can you buy them from and is there and regulations surrounding them? i want to drop the front of my car another 15mm or so to even it out but my springs are wound down as far as the go before they become uncaptive so want some tiny keepers to put in between problem is theyl only be able to be about 30mm high as then the spring mount reaches the end of the thread its either that or it take the shocks out and get them machined again
