    Yeah Puchrod... i was there today the big yellow place... takapuna mufflers... exactly what you said 1600 extractors 2" system two cobys and a 3" tip i think.... $450 I think exhaust shti has gone way up in auck lately..?

    no way... i am supplying the extractors! just some off the ghia.. same as the sport ones etc.... they supply pipe and two coby type muffler si think...

    nah i think one mufler will be way to loud... just got soem prices.... probably be around $450 which is more than expected... to fit extractors, 2 inch system with two mufflers.. and just going to have a black 3" tip which will look mean i reckon. And Leon... wasn't yours at Als like $150? thats a steal that same women just quoted me like $600. which is steep.

    Ok i got a 1300 in my car with the standard pea shooter... looking to put the 1600 in very soon.... i think i am going to get my extractors and 2" exhaust system on befor ethe engine swap.... it won't be a problem that the head sits a little higher on the 1600 right? there will be enough play in the exhaust to compensate... right? And as far as exhaust goes was just thinking about 2" all the way through and one of those big wide galvanised straight through mufflers.... you know not round like a coby but wide.... is that going to sound ok? to loud? cheers J

    Your right... you need custom ones if you want shorter ones i think.... I toyed with the idea of adjustable platforms.... which i could get for 600 i think... which bolt up... but decided against it....

    you have to take your struts out and leave them with them for like 3 days...... i went and saw Bruce at Manon butler motors... he cut my springs shortened the shocks and filled them with thicker oil.. for like $400 and he does warrants too... he said it was all sweet... but for him to do that they have to be the orig ones not aftermarket inserts...

    not sure aye... cos mk1s were all prexflow i think.. the mean one was the 1500GT not sure about the mk2s though... could possibly even be out of a mk3? You might want to look for a later head though... cos all the mk2 escort and soem mk1 ones had bigger valves and followers and some other small differences i think...

    Your the guy i see around albany/mairangi bay ways aye... and i have seen your car parked in wairau... i drive a white mk2 escort 4 door... Love the blue and white paint.. looks mean. Have you also seen that white 2 door mk1 cortina sacked out on smoothies? its bad... always around that area.

    Yeah it would have come with a 28/36 .... but apparently they are quite sort after and rare... 1500s were preXflow 32/36 will do the trick... should be abel to use the same manifold as the 28/36 i think... not sure though... pushrod?
  17. Yeah they are better but you have to remember that anyone who builds a BDA is going to heavily work it.... where people like us who use 4AGE are usually on a budget and have minimal mods... ???
  18. yeah rotor would be mean but i think i would go wth the carbed 4AGE .. they are bad... closest thing most of us will ever get to a BDA ... its basically the same thing Was talking to the guy who is helping me with my engine and he was telling me in his day when they built rally cars... BDAs were bread and butter... they just had them.. they didn't even knnow what they cost cos the teams just bought all the shit for them...

    yeah i don't that 1600 pinto s ump thing is true.... on ething that is though ... i think ... is the pinto from capris fit sweet... cos they are the ones with the different sump... i think the front suspension is much the same as a mk2 eskie

  21. definantly get new lifters.... when you start it up don't let it idle... cos if you do then oil doesn't get splashed up to the cam which will damage it.. Go to the burton site and look under tech articles or soemthing.. they have a page on installing cams..

    no shit... why has no one told me that! ... is the 1600 pinto different to the 2L? .... but ages ago soem guy on here put a 1600 pinto in his car and had probs...
  25. yeah.... i actually odn't know but i think efi tends to be good for a fast street engine if you want better fuel ecomy... but with a full out race engine that is always at super high rpm carbs work a treat.. cos thats the main reason they aren't goo don the street..... they are sluggish at low rpm and cos they are fixed jets... still use heaps of fuel
