Had a few contents claim issues with AMI and they were crappy to deal with so we noped out of dealings with them in 2012ish. Don't know what they are like now/ for cars.
Have been with AA for many, many years. When we were young and super povo (still are tbh, just a little less these days) we had a car that was on 3rd party. Some muppet rear ended the car in traffic and then literally ran away on foot. Car was uninsured, no wof, no reg and not owned by the driver and we didn't even know the driver's name. Rung up AA to cancel policy and told them what had happened, next thing I know, they are telling me they have a policy called "uninsured driver protection" which basically meant if we could track down the driver, they would pay us out as full cover and get the money from the driver. I told them about how he gapped it etc and they said "ok, no worries, we'll pay out the amount less the excess then" which was super amazing of them to do. Police tracked the muppet down in the end and he went back to jail and we got paid out in full.
Have been with AA ever since and always had excellent dealings. Made a minor mistake when we moved out to the country around 7 years ago and it was a bit cheaper to do everything (house, car, contents) with FMG. We had to make a car claim with FMG and they were alright to deal with but it was a market value policy not an agreed value policy so we didn't really get what the car was worth (because 90s odd ball cars are weirdly worth lots more money to the people who are sickos enough to want them, compared with how much a computer at the insurance company thinks it's worth) but we got enough that it wasn't a big drama. Any daily or important car now gets insured with AA at an agreed value and anything we don't care that much about gets insured with FMG.

Also somewhat interested in 4 spoke wheel details should they find themselves for sale and others above aren't keen.

I was sitting in my van yesterday at the traffic lights in Nawton, looked over saw a real cool bike, swooned, pointed it out to Guy and we watched it being ridden away majestically at which point Guy says "wonder if that was Greg" photos indicate that it was indeed. Very nice bike.

Good thing you had @Dogwatch to take the heavier end then eh?

From what I read, the early (2011-2013?) Leafs had a shit heater that drained your battery massively, as well as the worst battery. After that it was better but only some have a heat pump. Is there an easy way to tell if a JDM leaf has a heat pump?
I found this to be somewhat true but tbh I ran the ac constantly, it didn't really make much difference for the kind of commuting I did. If I was getting low on range I would turn it off but generally never needed to. Once you know and accept the limitations of the vehicle, you learn to treat it accordingly.
Make use of the climate control to preheat the car and heated seats etc.
What I did find absolutely hammered the range was head wind and not much you can do about that!
As far as batteries go, there was word that the 2013 battery was a testing year for a new battery chemistry called Lizard (though, people can't agree on whether this is the case, some say it was 2015 and others say 2015 was just the official release date after testing) 2013 does seem to be tracking particularly badly https://flipthefleet.org/resources/benchmark-your-leaf-before-buying/

I was sold on a leaf from the discussion in the climate change thread. @Ned's breakdown of the cost savings stacked up well for me, I bought the suggested car (24 kWh 2015 aero) a few weeks later. Love it, the instant torque is great. My favorite feature would probably be the climate control timer, it's amazing getting into a warm, defrosted car rather than shivering for the first few minutes while squinting through a small defrosted hole in the windscreen until it warms up. With the clean car rebate, 1% loan and money from selling my Terrano, it's paid for itself in fuel savings in less than 2 years.
Climate control, heated seats, heated steering wheel, boost off straight out of the driveway, no need to nana your engine while it warms up. Pure luxury. This winter in my work van has me experiencing a bit of fomo. I always viewed my leaf as more of a toy than a car, it wasn't fun in the classic fun car kind of way but I did really love driving it.

Try to get an NZ New one as there are a few imports coming through needing batteries, even with low KMs. Imports also don't fast charge, if you're into that. Batteries have come down a lot from MMNZ, and they are still very expensive but at least they are available.
Have driven a few through work and they're quite nice to drive.

I was pretty keen on one once upon a time, I haven't looked into it for a good few years now so there's a 90% chance I am completely wrong, but from memory, I thought there was a software bug with the BMS so it reported the battery was degrading much faster than it actually was. Not sure if that turned out to be correct or not or if there was a fix for it.
The other thing I remember about them after having a discussion with a few owners, it seems that they are completely gutless up hill on straight petrol if you run the battery flat on full EV.
...I haven't looked into them in years though so I could just be talking out of my butt.

Charging EVs is a question that has no answer... people swear by discharge to 20% and charge to 80%, and the general consensus is to charge it to 100% every so often, but to not leave it at 100% for long periods of time (so dont charge it to 100% and go away on holiday without it)
But then i also look after some fleet cars that genuine live on the charger 24/7 and are always at 100% and overall they are as fhit as all the ones that people have been babying since day 1.
In my experience with a leaf (not sure if it's transferrable to EVs with proper battery management systems, you will know more than me about that) I did hours and hours of research before buying my leaf because at the time, there was no real EV dealership in my area and only a handful around the country. I stuck the the 20/80% thing for a couple of years until the novelty of owning an electric car wore off and I realised it's just a tool to get me to work and back at the end of the day (and the range got a bit tight because I stopped nana driving it) so I thought "stuff it, let's just see what happens" I charged it to 100% every weekday for the following ~2 years discharging daily to about 40% on my drive to work, topping up at work on the 8a evse to around 80-100% again for my trip home and back into the charger at home ready for charge timer to kick in at 10pm every night to get me back to the 100% for the next day. I would only charge to 80% on weekends as I didn't use it on weekends.
I noticed pretty early in my ownership that I always lost the most SOH in summer as the battery got hotter so I wouldn't charge during the day if the outside temp was more than 20 degrees unless I was desperate for range. I did 70,000km over my 4ish years of ownership and the degradation tracked the same over the the last ~2 years as it did in the first 2 years, leaf people always said that an average degradation was 3% per year but I consistently lost about 6% from day dot of ownership. I was initially concerned that mine "wasn't normal" but then I stopped caring. My leaf was in the 75th percentile on flip the fleet for age (2011) and SOH (81%) when I bought it but with much high KM than most at the time (90,000km). It tracked consistently in the 75th percentile until the rebate came in and there were EVs everywhere and the data seemed to change quite significantly with all the new imports so I don't really know how it actually measured up in the end but I always suspected that because it got so much use, the battery seemed to be a lot healthier than some of the newer ones. I regularly saw much newer models with much lower KM but lower or the same SOH on the market.
I sold it at 160,000km and around 57% SOH when I got a company vehicle, if it wasn't for that, I'd still be happily daily'ing it. Heck, I even managed to get 4 other people I know into EVs over that time.
TLDR: I think charging is highly dependant on the amount of use the battery gets. If you only going to use 10% of the battery capacity per day then charging once a week to 100% is sufficient but if you are going to use close to the whole capacity everyday, then charge everyday and don't worry about it.

"This is a rare G#/Super S K11 March, with front fogs, super s alloys, and black interior (black dash etc with dark seats). This is the only k11 I have seen in nz personally with black interior instead of the typical nana spec grey. "
That's that guy who bought ours, he reckoned he was in the business of buying K11s here and shipping parts to the UK. I wonder if he ever got his 3.5k for ours

I don't know who needs to hear this but we recently acquired a 2005 honda stepwgn for camping/ bike hauling reasons and boy am I surprised how much I like it. Only thing I wish it has is cruise control but it drives nice, is good on fuel and goes well when you put your foot down, plus it's plenty big enough to lie down full stretch in the back so camping is going to be sweet. All that for 5k. Good ol' hondas.

I've had fairly good results removing smaller ink stains with my little bissell spot cleaner and the bissell cleaning product mixed in hot water. Surely you can find someone with one near you
