  1. Thanks I had a look at that , one side is .8 and the other .9 Thanks man but I'll just suck it up and buy one. At the end of the day it's a one off cost but i was shocked at how expendy they were. The ones from allie express may be worth a shot haha
  2. Nah it came with .9 and .8 gasless and hard wire rollers . Looks like they skimped out on the .6 wire roller though. I found one for $122 so I'll buy that one on pay day.
  3. Nope brand new off the shelf from blackwoods. Whys that
  4. The roller I have that came with the welder is .8 one side and .9 the other.
  5. Went and brought a roll of .6 wire to use instead of .8 as you lads recommended. Got it for $49 instead of $69 @toolshed fathers day sale. Got home and realised i dont have any .6 contact tips and I also have to change the roller In the welder itself. Think to myself , oh yeah that will be about 50 bucks... look online and fuck me dead its $180bucks ! Fuck sake. Rant over Edit : just found them on alli express for $10 hahaha.
  6. It's a cigweld 185 . I can take a pic of the settings and see what u think of them if you have the time.
  7. Sorry, but I thought that the settings on the welder door were what u were ment to weld at for some reason and had been stubbornly and stupidly been trying to nut it out. I'll keep tinkering away and see what happens
  8. I turned down the wire speed quite alot . Do the settings change for each individual if you know what I mean .
  9. Question guys .. How accurate is the setting on the door of weldings. I know this is a "guide". Tonight I turned down the wire speed and hey presto my welding was way better !
  10. Have u guys mounted a led light to the top of your welding helmet to light up the weld before you start and to add more light in where your body blocks the light?
  11. Thanks bling , I want to learn to weld all types/thickness but mainly pannel steel . Its mainly spending time on the welder seeing how different thickness of metal weld and getting the penetration correct. I finished a little project in weekend involving a creeper which needed its wheels reattached. I cut the box section of the creeper and welded a nut inside the box section , then welded it all back togeather. Went well and I'm happy with it so I'm getting there.
  12. I found some 3mm plate in the shed and had a tinker with it. Not too bad. No pics as I'm inside now
  13. Ok thanks man ! I will jack up some 3mm plate from work ! Does it allow for more heat or somthing ?
  14. That lot of steel welded togeather is 1.0mm and I think there is some pannel steel .6 aswell. I kinda set myself up as I was welding away happy as Larry, then moved onto another piece and it would blow though. The difference between .6 and 1.0mm I'm trying run nice beads so I can get used to the weld and watching the bead and pool. Getting used to the sound of when it's going to blow through and how fast to move the torch/angle. I'm getting better each time I practice so I'm happy bout that. Thanks for your help friends
  15. Right handed. So I was going right to left.
  16. Pushing. I was practicing today again and noticed that I was going straight with no weaves. I started weaving and doing c shapes and the weld looks much nice and seems to be spread out alot nicer. I
  17. What gas flow rate are you set to on your regulator ? Im using straight c02 , I wonder if that is what is making the weld profile higher ?
  18. This is the underside.
  19. Good night for practice. Very slowly learning.
  20. Thanks man I appreciate the feedback. It was one plate on top of the other, so I guess it was a lap weld.
  21. I have used a wire brush on it .
  22. the back side had some penatration and the heat was distributed okish. I may of been going too fast but i was trying to stay ahead of the weld pool.. Ill go take a photo now
  23. Hey guys , wife took the daughter out for a play date so I thought I'd do some welding on a project I'm doing. An ammo lock box I'm modifying. Pretty happy with the weld and myself to be honest. Been watching alot of youtube videos and such. Cheers lads
  24. Amazing , we have a para here in palmy. Do you know where I can get the white material that you put over the foam ?
  25. Well that's as far as I've got so far cheers and thanks for reading and caring about my obsession!
