If you are dead set on deisel engine probably a straight 6 would be best. Land rover TDI is underpowered even in a disco, td42 would be good. My old work had a 1992 Isuzu forward, it was na but plenty powerful and super reliable, it's still in use. Not sure on engine model but would recommend.

That's ... Interesting

You mentioned hills and traffic, so probably a about similar to my father's 3.9 disco for normal driving. No doubt on a decent cruise on good open roads the figure would improve some.

Actually tridens in 4x100 must be a not common size, wheels and flares would be worth as much as the car!

Yes, this is what I'm getting at, the may have altered the driveshaft for max slam, also a bent driveshaft from being slammed and hitting a judder bar or even the body itself will cause severe vibration
-
Oh yeah dude, had another look, it's not even welded properly at the shaft end. It looks like it was lengthened, maybe to cope with extreme lowering. Personally I would not drive on that, I would say it's where the vibration is. Actually gasped when I saw it lol.
-
That driveshaft looks dodgy, do you think it's a home job, maybe UJ alignment out or out of balance? does it have a loop on it?

Bit over NZ$16k by the looks? I guess that's landed in Auckland, what would it cost to get road legal these days?
