Got sick of waiting for someone to open a wof spot for this, so decided to gamble at VTNZ today.
hell of a laugh watching these guys try and figure out how to use all of the technology of 1972 Britain.
yup, had to show them how to operate the wipers, lights and horn
apart from the cert stuff which is obvious, it failed on the following:
rr indicator no blinky blinky - already fixed
brake lights no shiney when stompy- brake pressure switch died (possibly blocked).
Lr brake imbalance, may still have a bit of air in the system, plus the fluid looks shit as again.
steering box doing British things and leaking. Yup good luck on that one cuz, might just drain the oil for recheck haha
the lady behind the desk scared the bijeebers out of me and said the plates had expired. I was like WTF KAREN!!!!
turns out she got the last digit wrong.
so whoever had GF6958, your car must be farked- 27

Took the hunter out to Waiuku mufflers today to get the system lifted as high as possible.
on the way out there it removed a few catseyes.
I’ve noticed our roads have stupid crowns at the moment that raise around 50mm. So the flange and one resonator were getting a hiding.
plus it’s garked up my driveway and doorway in the workshop.
much friendlier to drive now without throwing sparks

I don’t rate hiluxs whatsoever, after trying to keep a fleet of them on the road.
a fleet of K11s are more reliable.im sure that if you change manifolds, exhaust, tune the fuelling etc they can be ok, but it’s like pulling the pin of a grenade and hoping it doesn’t go off.
these modern diesels are some kind of wizardry , everything under the bonnet is confusing
-
Yup that’s the standard 1kz cracking I mentioned. They pretty much all have it to some extent. Must have pretty crap cooling design or heat transfer through the exhaust side
-
Absolutely.
I had a wlt that was healthy as, but when it supposedly got a coolant flush from the dealer, they just topped it up with a non matching coolant. It made mud in the radiator, and hey presto, huge gash between 3 and 4.
they didn’t like the bill haha

1kz and cracks go together as well west Auckland and crack.
most heads will have some form of cracking in them

J1403 is the most common vac hose spec.
Lvvta is very particular about using the correct type of hose
Thanks mate. I’ll quote that and hope I don’t get asked for a rego

Yeah just make sure you get the right standard hose, I think they had a thing about it in the LVVTA newsletter at some point.
Oh god , into the rabbit hole of updates and nonsense we go, see ya nek week

Where can 3/8” vacuum hose be sourced?
typical culprits don’t have anything in stock
-
Highly keen for this

How stinky was it when you got to her?
the water that drained out smelled like a 6 day old nappy, I was hoping the drain plugs and lifting the carpet let it breathe enough until you got to it.
carpets look awesome

Go all the way and run triple IDA’s on a ez30, 6 trumpets out the bonnet on a custom manifold.. haha just to be different

Absolutely not happening haha
I had flares on a s1 rx7 I bought, never liked them, I’ll leave them for the spitfire rollers
these are 8s so a whole inch wider than OG RX3UTE, I will give the arches a gentle roll with my guard roller.
tyres will be some used semi slicks for now

Do remote brake servos (or any booster) generally have a non return valve on the vac hose?
