  1. 26 minutes ago, Get it done said:

I've seen dodgy warrants from vtnz and when I questioned the guy he told me his dodgy mate gave him a warrant and then he went to vtnz to get a reprint the next day so the sticker has a vtnz stamp on it, then offered the car for sale.

    Is this even possible?

Yeah its about $10 for a replacement sticker. got one for the bike because I lost the original. had duplicate written on it though.

  2. A note about organisation. An event I regularly attend is the VCC's Irishman creek rally. It is organised by the winner and runner up of the previous year. The winner is whoever the organizers say it is. In the last few years a committee has been formed to help the winner/runner up with organisation due to attendance being over 150 cars. Food for thought, Maybe pass the baton at prize giving on a pair of poor unsuspecting saps to organize Nats in their area.

  3. The VIRM states the lamp must emit a steady light and function appropriately for the lamp and vehicle. Doesn't say shit about engine running but you might run into issues with the light dimming when the engine is at idle.

Firstly "Vintage Cars" in this country are vehicles built pre 1932 according to the Vintage Car Club. Going off their conventions 1959 is considered Post War. I wouldn't add the title "Classic" either due to ambiguity and it causes a lot of arguments. Best just go off this list: http://vcc.org.nz/club-eligible-vehicles/

Anyway with that out of the way. As stated previously those fuel additives are a waste of time and money. Fuels now days have other nasty things in them in place of lead for upper cylinder protection. My parents 1929 Plymouth has been run on regular 91 for years and has only burnt one valve and that was more because of my driving and valve clearance than anything. There was an article published in the late 90s which I cant find at the moment but the general gist was the reporters went round several A grade mechanics and fleet managers in America asking what the change from leaded to unleaded fuel had done as far as maintenance requirements. The only major change was they weren't changing spark plugs as much. None of the predicted valve problems arose. one of my workmates was working for Toyota at the time and he said when the change to unleaded fuel happened a service bulletin was distributed saying to double the spark plug change interval of a lot of models.  The quality of our fuels and oils today are much better than in the 50s. Also don't fall for the barry sharns about adding 2 stroke oil or diesel to your fuel. Again waste of time. The only vehicles I've come across that need oil added to their fuel (Aside from 2 smoke cars) are the likes of RR Silver Ghosts with exposed valve gear and as a result have poor lubrication to the valve stems.

Hope this helps and you have many miles of happy motoring.

    Bazza Jr out.
