  1. So what’s everyone riding this year? Thoughts on set ups with gear/fuel etc? Excited to not need any bedding this year. Have a good shot at being completely self sufficient on my Chaly. Should have my bike done mid October based on current progress.
  2. There was a GN125 and 250 riding together on the first eastcape. 250 had maybe 5kph more top speed. Was odd. We assumed that 250 was half chooched but all signs point to that being pretty normal.
  3. The dude with the black RD/AG100 last year is keen again. Another fella around here has a YB125 he's keen on bringing. Showed them the accommodation etc and they're getting stuff sorted. Numbers must be getting pretty solid now. The excitement builds!
  4. There is Captain Cook motor lodge near by which has a few different room types too.
  5. Just call Waikanae. It's run by a lush old married couple. Tell them you're coming through again with a group like last year and see what they can do. I know from previous times each booking site holds only a certain allotment and the actual accommodation might actually have more on offer. We had about 10 rooms between us last year.
  6. If not; then book a cabin or room and note it up here you have spare beds etc. People will snap them up. Have a read over the last few pages for accommodation updates. Usually a bit closer to the time an entry form appears and we pay about $20 each for the support vehicle. Not too late at all and feel free to bring maaates.
  7. Change le oil often. Keep the tyres pumped up. - modification list for GN125. Oh; polish the chrome every now and then. We get ones with shitty surface rust forming quite early in their ownership. (though for some reason these people have been sold on the GN as a no maintenance bike; therefore never do anything for the first 3 years and get shocked when they fail on tyres etc at the first WOF; thanks local Suzuki shop)
  8. I haven't got it prepared. But will bring Chaly. Picture the same as below except much more aggressive tyres and less chrome + slightly more lift. Who else will be joining the less than 3L tank brigade?
  9. SCCHHWIIIIING. Booked for Gizzy. Will see ya early Friday like usual @johnnyfive.
  10. FOAMERS have taken the Chalet at the Holiday Park for the Friday night.
  11. There are groups doing things like that more and more often but they don't get called Eastcape because they aren't on the Eastcape. Usually smaller groups too. The boys did Whangamomomomomoomona and 42 traverse over a weekend recently which looked insane. Even encountered a meth'd out Terrano owner who'd been stuck for a couple of days. Lots more people keen on this kind of riding which is epic. I like the idea of a ride which is accessible for a massive group of people on slow and semi slow bikes. The charm of starting at a persons place we know and finishing there means a tonne of logistics that are usually annoying at the start and end of a long ride are taken care of. Keen as to see other parts and do other things anywhere and everywhere. Excited to see what happens this year.
  12. Probably going to do coromandel sometime this year too. Family Bach is up there and is a wicked place to start. Wont be a massive big event but just sharing as this event gave me the pine for it. Probably 2 days. Might head right up the top and camp, might not. No clue just yet.
  13. @Shakotom let me know today it's been 365 days since we started the sharn for last years cape run. Here's me sticking my foot in it like usual. I plan to ride wide wheel Chaly around the cape if it's reliable and if the run happens. Was going max slam spec Japanese style but decided it's pointless to have a bike I can only ride in the city; so have added slightly aggressive tyres to it which tbh does very little to make it off road worthy. INB4 change the route bleh bleh bleh. There are a tonne of people that aren't necessarily on OS that are keen after the last 2 years of videos to tackle it if @johnnyfive can be fucked putting up with a bunch of pests again. @Geophy and a few others are doing other adventure rides around the place on small bikes this year too which has been super cool to watch. I personally plan on heading off for a wee run around raglan/kawhia for a group ride as winter starts to dissipate which could be a cool prep run for some people. (aka @64valiant's standard weekend ride) Also Aaron Card from QCR may be doing a big weekend long event for small bikes in the South Island later in the year which I'm keen to try tackle if it happens. If none of the above happens I'll probably just go for a wicked nang over the Motu and back by myself. Either way, I'm Callum this is my shit yarn.
