  1. Just looking at options on immobiliser stuff for my old beeeeeema. Mine is just a year before they put the chips in the keys, and I am getting a bit worried about theft. It has an alarm, so I just want to put some form of immobiliser on there without getting a whole alarm and such replacing my factory Infrared key.

I assume that it would be possible to literally chuck one of those RFID tags on a keychain and if it's away from the steering column it triggers a cut off for the ignition or something.

I have no idea what to begin to look for. Anyone here attempt anything like this? All I find is alarm systems with big bulky ugly button keys. I'm lazy, I don't want to press anything. I don't need another alarm key, mine works fine. I just want the car to know I'm close and allow me to start.

It should be possible right? or am I crazy?

  2. Got the box in bits and have got the synchros out. No luck so far finding any suppliers inside NZ.

    No description available.

Will see what my overseas sources say, have found a part number for the peugeot synchro that is meant to fit and have found porsche synchros which might fit but will see as those aren't exactly favourable prices.

The rest of the box looks fine, needs a clean on the outside, and the lower selector bush thing has given up so need to rig up something like that but that is a job that won't be too hard to home fab up.

More suggestions for potential synchro sources would be much appreciated, have got them measured up with the calipers so hopefully that makes things easier.

  3. Not a lot of pics, dropped the box last week since the clutch has started slipping.

    No description available.

Looking at sending the clutch away to get replated and what not by bnt since I am not exactly having any luck finding a new clutch in the country. Also planning to replace the synchros in the box since it grinds into second. Synchros have already been flipped before and 2nd and 4th have also been swapped already. Maybe I should just get better at rev-matching... Anyone have any idea where to go once I have the synchros out to see if I can find something in the country? I know the box is Porsche designed and have been told that some Peugeots have the same synchros too so they must be out there.

Anyway that's the update, its still chugging along happily for most the time (when the box is in), a good daily when I somehow manage to get my other cars out of order.

  4. I had mine an '88 wagon a couple years ago and it was honestly straight as.  Apart from the he fucked as front end (which was my doing) it was super straight. Really depends on ownership conditions tbh. If it been garaged all it's life it's probably good. Y'all should have a look at my bimmer in Holland, is's not passing any inspection any time soon and I gotta sell it before I get out of here.

If you had told those police to get fucked you would be more than happy to line their pockets to get out of the shit you would be in.

Sorry I guess I did word it a bit aggressively. I wasn't literally going to tell them to get fucked. I was gonna ask for their badge number, and the name of their superior, and then tell them that it's illegal for them to take my driver's licence in Moroccan law. Then I would have asked for the ticket to be written out before I paid and that I would only pay in the police station and not in cash which again is the proper way to do things.

I accept my tickets when I do things wrong, all my tickets I've had in New Zealand I will take the blame for and I even accept that I was doing something illegal to get pulled over but I know for a fact that all basic moving violations in Morocco are 150 dirham and that asking for 400 Dirham and telling me he'll keep my licence if I don't pay is extortion and illegal. I literally also didn't have enough cash on me to pay on the spot.

So you're complaining that you got hit up for breaking the law? Yeh tough gig man, what a rip off.

    PS I'm being sarcastic

Always lol at people moaning about speeding tickets and traffic infringements. Take the slap on the wrist and be done with it.

I mean I get it I know I'm doing illegal stuff. I'm fine with paying the fine, but when I know that over half the money is going into the cop's pocket I have a right to be a bit pissy.

You should see how they drive here I don't want to be that guy that says I'm a great driver but put the cop stop in the middle of Marrakech near the roundabouts and actually pull over Moroccans not only foreigners and that's how you start by fixing the traffic.

Doing a leap of faith through the roundabouts in Marrakech may have honestly been the scariest driving I've ever done.

  7. Ling post travelling by car through Morocco and they have speed traps everywhere. Got flagged down by 2 cops in the middle of nowhere for doing 68 in a 60, 150 Dirham fine we both know that's going straight into the guys pocket. Paying fines by cash sounds a bit like a yarn maybe.

Day after, I get pulled over for rolling a stop sign 400 Dirham fine I was about to tell them to go fuck themselves when the lovely Italian lady I was traveling with managed to get the ticket down to no ticket at all. Still not sure how she managed that.

I feel like a crazy person Im driving the same or better as the Moroccan people but I guess because I'm foreign I get pulled over? Buncha bloody racists if you ask me.21B9EA0A-6F67-49CC-9B29-F738EFBB5A22.thumb.jpeg.96b7575a770cadf191b5b503aa403721.jpeg

Double lingpost got a speeding ticket in Holland for doing 86 in an 80 but they never noticed I didn't have a valid driver's licence. Plus also got a 49 in a 40 in Germany.

  8. Quick update just for the record.

So I sold this about a year ago. Kinda regret it now. It was cooler than I give it credit for. It now lives on in what I assume is ke70 heaven, as it met its demise a while back now, when the new owner snapped and bent the front suspension in an accident near Auckland.

Rip ke70 gone but not forgotten.

I mean who am I kidding it's probably living on as a franKE70stein somewhere with probably the third time it's had dodgy front end repairs done on it. I don't think there's one fully straight ke70 left in the country.

Final picture I've got of it before it disappeared for good, so long good friend:

Looking nice with those wheels. Are they the bbs 15” ones that come with higher spec e30s or after market? They look good either way

They're actually knock off aftermarket models I think, definitely not the BBS Style 5s although to be honest I love them just as much, they're very unique.

Anyway, small update. Fixed my exhaust leak. Next up is fixing the wacky brake issue...

Also bought an e34 525i with the m20b25 engine that doesn't go (cranks but wont start) for $250, thats currently residing on the wrong island. Planning on building an m20b28 stroker using the 2.8 crank from an m52b28 out of an e36 and the conrods out of my m20b20 currently in my car still. Probably gonna be a big hassle but its worth a shot, and it was real cheap so hey.

  10. So I bought a new sunroof for my e30 as the old one is rusty asf.

At first I thought the sunroof was the same colour as mine so no worries but for some dumb reason BMW decided in the 80s that they needed two very similar colours that are slightly different: Cosmos Blau and Cirrus Blau. Anyway a sunroof is a sunroof, and mine has rust flaking off of it, so I figured the replacement is fine, and I'll just respray it.

However the guy left the sunroof in his boot for a bit driving around and now the top layer of paint is a bit scratched. You can feel the difference in layer of clear and top coat and at some points the primer under the top coat.

Should I just sand everything flat and hit it with maybe a couple layers of primer over the scratches and then top and clear, or completely strip it back using chemicals/a disc and then primer and paint?

Here's a shitty phone photo of the scratches:

"Hey thanks @AllTorque for suppling the relevant section of the wof virm. I'm still a little confused so am hoping you can tell me if it's simply ok to remove the current one legally?"

Im sure it wasn't meant to come across as it did, but  you sir, need to learn some fuckin manners.

Sorry, yeah no offence intended, didn't realise it came across as rude. The first thing I did was google it before going here. I've read up on the NZTA page myself, but it says nothing about removing it if it's already there. Since my car has the third stop lamp as a factory option on the VIN (S806 - Third Stoplamp) I was wondering if it'd be an issue much like something for seatbelts which I don't think you are allowed to remove in older vehicles but if they're not there then it's fine. Again sorry if I came off as rude, not my intentions.

Howdy, Hey I'm pulling together all the bits and pieces for the winter rebuild of the Mistral, which I'll do a thread on, but at present can only find one of the number plates, are these plates OK for for reg/WOF  purposes ? Cheers

Legally? No. But literally no one will notice. If they're done right they should be indistinguishable from the originals. Ive had mates get through wofs with printed plates and worse easily. I'd say go for it.

  13. Alright yeah so fuck that plan. I told him I'd hold onto the car for him because I'm nice until he can get me the full amount when I come back from the holidays. I mean I can't sell it when I'm not in chch anyway (Flying up to Napier on 1st and driving the e30 down on the 17th) and I doubt I'll get a reasonable offer between that time anyway (and if I do I'll probably take it).

That means if it's real I'll get paid and if it's not I'll be able to sell it anyway.

  14. I wasn't expecting him to accept...

There's a lot less that can go wrong this way but who actually wants to buy an Audi TT *THAT* bad.

I mean if I can get him to sign a contract that says something along the lines of he has to pay $300 a week, he only gets the car after the full amount has been paid and he forfeits half his money if he does not complete the payments on time I should be in the clear right?
