Almost forgot. My mate came round and we mocked up how some r31 Ti aero wheels would look.
Only issue is it requires 4x100 to 4x114 adapters. Rear would have to be 25mm atleast but the front would need 50mm to match the fitment for the rear and I dunno if I can justify running a big spacer/adaptor
Does look good though

Ages ago I saw someone selling or bringing in krylon metal flake spray paint.
Is that sort of stuff available anywhere in nz at all? Or whats the process involved with doing metal flake paint from a gun. Throw glitter at wet paint? Lol

Got side tracked so started fitting up the stereo and had to modify the slots as they are not typical din size. Also has cup holders now! Top slot has 2 cup holder pop out and a tray to hide your... "smokes"
Need to make some brackets to hold it all but does the job. Door speakers in with crossover and tweeters too. Next will be the amp and tube sub

With doing small patches, is using steel off another car fine to do?
Obviously people having been doing rust cuts for yonks would using a more modern vehicle steel be okay on older vehicles? Assuming the thickness is the same that is
-
@JustHarry should have patches done and painted over within a month at most if all goes to plan.
What's the go with cavity waxes/tectyl/fish oil etc for spraying inside scuttle panels and chassis rails. One better than the other or do they all do the same job?
-
Also what about areas that have more or less bubbled up but not rotten through? Clean it back as much as possibly and epoxy primer?
-
@Bling yeah I'm the same and keep forgetting how many spots I've got to do. Will most likely go in stages like you say, all the areas I've got to replace steel have been cut out so far and will spend a weekend treating and cutting out patches etc

Get some cold rolled steel not zinc plated, its easier to work with. 1.2mm is too thick get 0.8 or whatever the correct gauge is.
I measure a piece I cut out and it was 1.2mm thick, would it be okay using something slightly thinner or does it not matter too much and is just easier to work with.
Also cheers for the feedback man, will definitely change up my plan a bit

Hey all
I'm about ready to start making my patch panels for the piazza and thought id start a thread relating to how every goes about fixing/treating/removing rust
Couple questions to start this off
- what's the preference for replacing steel? Do I go get a fresh sheet (1.2mm thick) and start there? Reason I ask is I have some panels laying around from other cars I can use bit more modern so they would obviously be treated differently when manufactured.
-what's the better products to use for treating/sealing rust? Brush on vs spray?
-best order to do things in? Example: cut patch, rust treat area, weld through prime, weld patch, paint?

Realised I've got a fair bit of cleaning up of parts to be done. Not going over board as the snowball effect will definitely be at play
Pulled the intake manifold apart, found the engine mounts and brackets to the gearbox so will give em a quick parts clean and smash with the water blaster
Injectors have me worried, want to replace the hose tails but only one came off as I was different and had 2 clamps as opposed to the other 3. Cut em off carefully?
Also keen to give em an ultra sonic clean if anyone local has one and wants to swap some sharns

I bought a cap for a drill press i bought off
@Metalhead96. 5he motor would start with push but that was it. The cap didnt fix it. I think it's still in the garage. If it is you can have it for free.
Damn, some cold ones for compensation?

So the factory exhaust manifold has a big old crack up the inside. I know I could try heating it up and welding the crack but also wanting to have a go making some extractors
You used to be able to buy "kits" with a whole bunch of different piping to make your own. Stuff like this still available?

Had this for a while now, toyed with selling but finally acquired a place with a garage so thought fuck it. Let's do it
Considering the cost of rwd manual jap sleds is getting more and more towards the sale of organs I know I won't be able to find something for as cheap as I got this for a couple years ago
First job was to tackle the rust, extra crispy but still palatable.
