  1. What's the go with the abs rule now? Is it like with cars etc where if its older than 20 years it's all goods or do we need to retro fit abs into older bikes now?

I'm guessing mopeds would realistically be exempt being that most have cable operated rear brakes. I guess in the case of mopeds where we have the beauty of walk in walk out with plate it's not something on our minds.

Thinking of situations where importing a older bike that doesn't have abs system in place.

(Apologize if this has being answered before or if not quite moped specific)

Ling post, but how is that hektik A31?

I was wondering about it just the other day.

@RUNAMUCK Hahah its actually what this post is about. I bought another Ceff (Facelift, manual, 20e, cheap boy cheap) as I haven't had much luck with the other one. Any good bits I have at the moment will go on the new car and everything else onto the old one and will store it until I have time to really dig into it. Same plans as before just different shell.

    In other words, progress??? hahah

  3. Pipe and filter was on the bike already and did run, It used to bog down a bit when you change gears but would then pick back up and accelerate fine. So I thought I could make it run a tad better by having a play with the fuel mix but didn't read too much up on it, thus the bike has just sat in the shed for about a year.

Got fuel, got spark and compression. Running about 50/1 petrol to 2 stroke oil if that helps

  4. @Raizer @GuyWithAviators

I Should've have mentioned a couple more details hahah. The bike was a runner when I got it, then I had to tut tuu with it and ended up mucking it up. I would put it back to stock but don't have the standard airbox or exhaust.

If anyone knows a character who goes by the name of "Phish" (could be a member on here?) he used to own it.

  5. Yeah mate sitting pretty in the back yard. Probs gonna make some mounts up or something so not to fussed really. If I end up at the hanmer meet then you can offload it to me if you want haha.

Was supposed to be making an update on this but life shit gets in the way sometimes. Am looking for a manual driveshaft at the moment if anyone knows of one

    /update not update?

I'm still looking for a decent HZ to convert into a roadpacer.

Me and my mate sharned about this one night over some bevvies. Our idea centred more around slapping a 12a j port in a HQ and having some old SSR starsharks on it with fender flares. Plus a chin spoiler and oil cooler hanging out the front.

Yup, but be warned that you may have trouble complying something like an AZ-1 without doing remedial work around the seatbelt anchorages first (which requires LVV certification). I've seen a few kei cars come in within the last couple of years which have required this to be done, including my Alto Works.

Check with a compliance certifier if you're unsure. Might also pay to check if gullwing doors need extra certification (unlikely, but better to find out now than once the car is here).

How come it would need cert for items/features that are OEM to the vehicle?

Also what changes needed to be made in regards to the seat belt anchorages, does it not meet the NZ standard for the era it was made in or something?

Liking the resto goal:  "Thing is I want this to stand out from the rest of the RFB crowd and dis-associate as much as I can"

My old lady had 2 of these when they first came on the scene and when i was learning to drive - super nice cars.
I was a happy boy when I was allowed it for the night!

Thanks man, yeah I have been in a mates one which was really tidy. I agree, really nice and quite comfy too.

Anyways, enough shit posting about lush AU falcons and more RFB nonsense.

I was poking round the boot a bit more and noticed a small pile of rust shavings, got out the wire wheel and started digging.... BAD IDEA, think I just opened up a can of worms aye haha. Looks as though when it had the rear end prang and went for repairs no rust prevention was carried out (no suprises there, I've worked in a panel shop before and seen the shit that goes on) under all the "new" seam sealer is rust and rot.

While I'm a bit pissed about it at the end of the day it is what it is and would probably be the death of the car in a couple of years if not treated. Going to grind it all out and fix it up then paint the inside of the boot. Will put up pics when I have revealed all its nastyness.

Also scored some boot interior parts for a gold coin donation. Sweeeeeet

  9. Wow, what a fantastic sharn. Almost shed a tear. *clap clap*

I did tell myself when I got this that I must save it from an untimely end. So count on me to give it a new lease on life.

Will be keen to here the directors cut of said sharn over a bevvie or 2. Perhaps I may get that subframe just as an excuse to do so.

When I was going through the back of it having a geez, I noticed something odd around the tail lights etc. Then it clicked, this old bitch as taken one up the arse!! Heaps of seamsealer in and around aswell as some pinched bits of steal. Took a look under it and some of the old seams were split and showing some car cancer, luckily this seems to be the only part of the car thats really bad. Explains why the back quarter panels have cracked bog n such. Only other rust I found is bottom left sill, top of the boot seal, inside rear left guard and engine bay where the battery tray used to be (looks to be both leaky battery and possible home jobbie intercooler cut?). Other then that its quite a solid car really.

Tbh, I actually bought it because it had a full set of Kei Office coilovers and was gonna hack the front end off to fuse onto a 200sx s13 shell I had for a little bit (bought off @ELEVNS) but after looking over it it was just too good to cut up and the 200sx was well and truely fuckered.

But it gave me an idea. See, the first plan was to make a "Cef-hundy" or in other words a Cefiro front on a 180/200sx body. Since that fell through I then thought "how bout the s13 front on a cefiro!!" Fucking light bulb I tell ya. Early pignose 180sx front with pop up headlights and all.

I was trying to come up with a name for it. 2firo? Tu-whero? Stay with Cef-hundy? Cefsx?

    CEFSEX!!!!!

  10. Fucking real!? hahah, I could be that buyer then cause when I got the car I thought for some reason the rego had lapsed. I then got a txt from the seller saying to go put it in my name, was stoked that the plates I got were still live.

I think I remember when I picked it up I asked why he had it and he said he was going to get back into drifting but never got around to doing anything with it. So it just sat for about a year or something before selling it to me.

Could be keen on the subframe, will flick a pm if I need it at somepoint. Would love to hear the sharn about this magnificent automobile.

  11. Hahah yeah the wheels in the pic are technically Speed Star RS-Eights, they are also my dads set was just trying them on the car. The ones I have are 16x7 and 5 stud which I will get widened to about a 9.5.

Wish they were legit RS-watanabe's but I can dream right haha. They do have the Watanabe logo on the centre's though.

Also have a set of 16x7 Volk Racing progressive mesh which will get the same treatment.

EDIT: I just saw your name pop up on classiczcars asking about a set of speed stars haha

  12. Now you might be asking, WTF do you plan to do with this garbage...

Well I first Im going through tidying up what I can, where I can (being a dirty nissan there is only so much you can clean up )

Currently has a RB30E sitting in the bay which will recieve a tickle up, manual, lsd, full interior back in it, pain and panel. sounds simple enough.

Thing is I want this to stand out from the rest of the RFB crowd and dis-associate as much as I can haha, so much like the title says it will be a bosozoku/shakotan look with some 90'sdrifter-touge-eurobeat-initialD-running in the 90's in the mix.

So to summaries. Rs watanabe's, slammed, s13 two tone paint, takeyari exhaust, long flat wing etc etc.

    More carnage below chaps

PS: Did I mention I found a crushed billy maverick can in the car when I got it?! haha

  13. The humble Cefiro. Quite a nice car back in its day and some what pined over for some people being lumped into the category of JDM goodness to those who never got them.

In NZ though... well. I think things like cut springs, matt black paint, 6x9 speakers for doof doofs and rtb bourbon'n'cokes spring to mind. Aswell as metal mulisha/dc stickers covering the back half of the car etc etc. Everyone knows the R fucking B stereotype very well in this country.

So what do I do? Put a checky bid on a cefiro "parts car" on the tard of a lazy 100 bucks and end up purchasing one for myself. Nice

As the pictures will tell you, this thing as been pretty neglected. Little bits of rust, someone has danced on the roof at some point, old bog work showing up, spray can practice area. Its a right state I tell you. I had a look at the history of the vehicle, It was imported in 1994 and seemed to have an okay life, it then came off the road at some point possibly from a WOF failure, then the rego lapsed. Was re registered in 2010 but never back on the road, the plates have never being on the car!!! She was most likely a bit slutty and handed around a few nissan "enthusiasts"  who for the most part just robbed parts off it. It started life as a RB20DE auto with a LSD and Hicas. Never manual swapped, hicas never locked out, lsd long gone as is the motor and now has basiclly no interior and rust in some areas

    Admire the filth below

    Swap the strut tops?

On 1/10/2017 at 21:08, cletus said:

This would be the best idea

otherwise you could re drill, your pic doesn't work for me but you may have to do some strengthening, ie just as an idea you could cut a 3mm disc that fits up under the strut tower, plug weld it through the un used holes then drill your new holes

We ended up getting the factory strut top to bolt to the top of the coilover no worries and its all still captured so it worked out in the end. Otherwise he was going to but new strut tops which were real pricey.

Next question though is that when he got the car someone at somestage has redrilled the front passenger side shock tower so the could get more camber on that side (im guessing they were adjusting for road crown when there is no factory camber adjustment/drill some holes, she'll be right)

He has never had a problem with WOF's but could it be something that needs to be plugged up before cert? Its not really noticeable but wants to cover all base's

  15. Hey everyone. Friend of mine is doing a s13 suspension conversion on his r31 skyline. All the componants and parts a bolt in except for the rear struts. Reason is the r31 has 3 bolts for the strut top as the s13 uses 2.

My question is, can we mark out and drill 2 new holes in the strut tower to install the strut in or is this considered a big no no?

    S13 redrillstruttowersmall1jy.jpg

Thought I would check before we make swiss cheese out of a strut tower
