Does anyone know if a 1979-1983 Civic rotting away around Wellington?
Yes I have a parts car but South Otago so a bit far away unless you get desperate.

Yes, 12" tyres are becoming hard to find and are almost always more expensive than 13".
-
Any reason not to use 12" rims if you convert to old Civic hubs?

Will def be there for the gathering at the end. Even if the homekill butcher doesn't show up my participation in the run could be limited by children's sport.
I like @smokin'joe's suggestion of an all nighter at his bush place sometime soonish.
-
Might not make it to the run due to potentially killing beef. The butcher had planned to come last weekend but got called into his other job on Saturday and lost most of Sunday looking for his pig dogs. Still keen to join you all for drinks and sharns afterwards though.

2376 barleycorn to the chain. It's perfectly logical.

The bunk accommodation is a bit of a limitation, particularly when with a +1
Mary and I didn't find this to be a problem at Hanmeet last year. Organisers did a very good job of putting compatible people together I thought.

Trackdays. They were such a core part of the early nats, people just taking out whatever for a thrash and having a ball
This activity sounds like a lot of fun, particularly for those of us who don't usually participate in organized motorsport. Does it open a huge can of legal and H&S worms for us though?

Gun rack? Taxidermy heads? Confederate flag?

Perhaps a few local members who know the area could set a course for a run the way the VCC boys do. Bit of a navigation exercise combined with the scavenger hunt. This sort of thing can be a whole bunch of fun, particularly if half the crews get given the instructions in the reverse order to add a bit of confusion to the mix. I'd be down for helping organise it if Nats was ever held in my home territory.

First of all I'd like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed my first Nats this year. Big ups to all who worked to make it great. Here are my views on the future of the event.
I believe the all in together at a camping ground format is the way to go as it allows attendees to hang out together and to cut loose a bit without having to plan how to get back to their accommodation after potentially (yeah, right) drinking heavily.
I also like the way Nats has been held at different locations each year and would like to see this arrangement continue. This is fairer for all in that each year it is the turn of a different group of members to travel an enormous distance to attend. If Nats was to be held in the same location each year many of us would find it financially difficult to attend at all, and it would always be the same ones struggling in this respect. Another benefit of having a different venue each year is that it exposes us to roads and locations we may never otherwise have the opportunity to explore rather than the same ones every time.
I like the idea of inviting non-members to participate in the park up. This may even encourage some to become members. Perhaps the rocker cover racing should be part of this rather than an activity for a drunken few late at night as it was this year.

Got a reply from Catlins brewery as follows,
Kerry
Norm is in Wellington with his family for a few days for school holidays, so I don’t want to bother him til he returns. I am not sure if he will be fine with this, as he may be tied up with shooting ducks, as you probably know that is opening weekend!! I will let him know of your request, and get back to you soon. As we don’t have a licence to sell alcohol from the brewery directly to the public there can only be samples! We do sell merchandise, though. If I was to host you it wouldn’t have the flair that Norm adds to a visit!!
Peter
Might have to make it another time perhaps. See what Norman says when he gets back. I had forgotten that they aren't licenced to sell retail directly from the brewery.
