1000km post run in oil change time.
Then I took it in for some surgery on the exhaust. I got sick of playing around with it so like a coward I farmed it out to a zorst wizard. There was much choppy chop and a quieter centre muffler was grafted in. Still sounds good but is now bearable to drive. Wizard made multiple angle adjustments to clear the diff and brake bias valve and torque arm.
One problem to report: Whiff of antifreeze when the heater is on. GROOOAAAN!! Looks like dash out in my future.

The golf R32 engine has intrigued me, I haven't done any real research, so it's probably a garbage idea for some reason, and is probably not ideal for high rpm, but from a capacity vs physical size, it could be alright...
it seems like a likely candidate for a +t conversion, just check out the head gasket surface area between the bores, and the number of head studs.. (2 things not easily changed on an engine)
Snap! Have been dreaming of jamming one in the Fiat 1500..

It might just be a Canterbury thing but every BA or newer falcon is driven aggressively at speed by a meth head. Shame really because imo the falcons drive better than the contemporary Holdens.

Toyota wreckers are thieves especially van/prado/hilux ones. Buy every single wreck at top dollar, corner market, print money. Around here anyway. Good luck

Yeah the bottom one is the rebound damping. I might pull it to bits and make sure the linkage isn’t seized

Looks like it’s stopping the vacuum tank? from falling onto the gearbox

The KDX is turning out to be a pup, unsurprisingly. Ive done the helicoil twice but the plug keeps winding in on the piss so I can’t get a good seal. Also, the rear shock rebound is incredibly stiff. I can push the suspension down and almost get to the count of 10 before it has rebounded despite backing the adjustment off to zero. She rips pretty good though but it’s not nice enough to spend a heap of $ on.

quality isn't the best, paint and chrome wise
That is a very generous statement!

Special interest waa waa in a way. There has been an inequity for decades with respect to light diesels too. Why does a fiat 500 diesel pay the same ruc as a Land Cruiser 200? The whole system needs to be remade from scratch as it’s not fit for purpose, and in that way the petitioner makes a point.

What's better the AG or the TF ?
Despite being similar they have quite different characters. The TF will have the AG for breakfast performance wise. The AG imho makes for a friendlier farm bike and is better built.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, small dirt bike tyres can burn in the sulfurous pits of hell. Has anyone here invested in a Rabaconda or similar and can comment on usefulness thereof?

What qualifies as cheap for one of these smurfs?

I keep seeing Max peed in his grods. Is that a euphemism for undies?

Gearbox oil is low, may as well change it. Wot? Drain plug finger tight…feels eeeww…
Oh shit. I guess the thread is buggered hence the sealant goo. Yep. Case thread is gone. Anyone ever attempted a helicoil in a bike gearbox in situ? Could be a swarf risk?

Problem with the cert situation is some certifiers are gc’s, however there are some “C” s too and if they feel like making your life miserable they will. My colleague is dealing with a re-vin of a Land Rover which has a holden motor in it from way back so cert is required. How would you feel rocking up to the cert place of business and having the guy say shit like “I fucken hate pommy shit” and “go get the brakes rebuilt by xyz company. It’ll still fail the brake test though harharhar!” There isn’t an ombudsman for this industry is there?

Canada also has nothing like a WOF. Only time your car ever gets inspection is when you sell it. You’re still responsible for keeping it roadworthy as the cops can throw the book at you if they find your car has bald tyres etc. saw some real flintstone mobiles over there. Also, vanishingly small number of accidents attributed to the state of the car.

He's north of Rangiora - Ashley. Drop-ins by arrangement. I've been there a few times and he's a GC.
That’s 5 minutes from me. I’ll attempt contact

Tank isn’t locked. It has a wee dent in it but not bad. Goodparts doesn’t say where they are on the website. Do they discourage drop-ins?

Going to need some bits and bobs for the kdx. Gearbox fill plug snapped off just below the case so need to extract the broken threaded part. Also need a fork leg guard and it has a steel tank with lockable cap?! Must have been pilfered from a kmx perhaps? Any good outfits supply for these other than the stealers? Seems to go very well with a good supply of crisp nangs. Desperate for a good clean and a service though.

@tortron is right on the money. After chiseling the caked filth off, behold
a repair for want of a better word, of some carnage. I took the stator cover off and a section of gasket was missing too. I’ve put it back on with a generous (cringe) rtv gasket. It looks like the P.O. attempted to deal with the gasket leak by applying copious JB weld to the outside. We shall see how it goes.
