This was before the race of it HR Puffinstuffin.

I remembered now after fixing the rocker arm the valve cover kept leaking into the exhaust manifold cue all the smoke. Relaying some info here

That was after it had done something the day before was apart in the pits when I first saw it and been put back together again for that race only to become a rolling smoke cloud again.

A shame because it's a fairly tough looking rig to see going around the track.

Blew the 427 up a race or two back now running a 390 while he waits for the new 427 to arrive from the states for it. A rocker arm came loose on one of the races during the weekend.

  4. The biggest complaint I have seen is wheel bearings failing wofs. Our trailer came with a check list of things to check as it has a 3 year wof and says to check wheel bearings after the first 2 months i think and then however long after that. I think that is just something to be aware of and keep an eye on. Not hard to keep an eye on them for piece of mind.

I do think a lot of the complaints are from people who buy the cheap trailers and treat them like an expensive heavy duty one. If you are realistic of its limits I am sure they will lasts fine.

thats good info, any reason you didnt get the larger size that could fit a sheet of gib/ply etc?

I thought if we got the 8x4 I would be tempted to overload it more haha. 8x4 had the same load rating as the 7x4. Our 7x4 is 1270mm wide inside so can fit either ply or mdf (mdf is 2440x1220)  and i think 2120 long so if i need to pick up some full sheets I will just take the spare wheel off and drop the front tailgate so the sheet hangs out the front.

8x4 was 2400 inside I think so would also need to put front gate down for mdf anyway. 8x4 would be good but we just decided the 7x4 would be fine for our needs.

Sounds like new 8x4 china trailer, with cage and added ply deck

I want a trailer so I can fill it up as I want and take it to the dump when its full, having a ute seems nice but the trays are always too small for anything decent length, plus utes are damn expensive, be better off turning a subaru wagon into a ruthless trailer car

I literally just went through looking at trailer options as well. I looked at the M10 ones they seemed to have good reviews but were out of stock and had no idea when they were getting more in due to covid. You will notice most cheap new ones are pretty much the same Chinese trailer with a different brand on it.

I was stuck between looking at second hand trailers which all would end up being another project i don't need. Or a good branded second hand one which was darer than a new Chinese one.

You need to weigh up your budget and what you will use it for. the Chinese ones don't have as good of load ratings as NZ made ones. We ended up buying an Elite Trailers (Chinese) 7x4 with cage non tipper. We couldn't afford to extend the budget to a heavy duty NZ made trailer, but at the end of the day our actual uses for it shouldn't worry this trailer. If we need a few ton of gravel we would just get a truck load delivered.

Just picked ours up Saturday and already done 2 full loads of green waste to the dump, so dam handy. DM me if you want to know anything else.

    Engine update:

The rear housing and rotor are damaged. A corner of an apex seal broke off and did a few laps. New rear housing and rotor on its way.
However, the rest of the motor is mint. Minty mint. My plates are ‘like new’ and everything else is in excellent condition. Will be getting balanced, cleared etc.

I have also decided to go a bit further with the engine build. This includes a front mount inter cooler, new turbo, manifold and BoV. Full exhaust system.

And all the other various stuff that goes into a motor build of this size and spend.

It does mean that there isn’t any money left for stance at this stage. So no low. But I will have a good reliable engine set up that makes a few horses.

Warning wormhole ahead, actually I think its to late you are to deep now. At least rattle can camo is cheap i guess.

  8. Hi everyone, just putting this up now so should give plenty of time to think about it.

The Cromwell car show is on again in January and is one of the biggest shows at this end of the country. The range of cars is starting to grow now as well, it is always a good day out. Either head for a look on the Saturday a or head up Friday and join the Friday night cruise which is a good laugh as all the locals line the streets to watch plenty of fossil fuels being burnt up.

It may completely fill up this time as the dates don't clash with Gibbston Valley this time. We head up on the Friday and stay up there and join the cruise.

FC is booked in to go to Retro Automotive in early December. Plan is:

    • Link computer
    • Engine rebuild
    • new injector rails and injectors
    • Street port
    • New exhaust from turbo to mid section
    • Tune (Base tune but final will be around 350bhp)

Should have it back early February. If there is enough money left in the budget then I will look at the stance.

    Make kiwi808's FC great again
