  1. hey oldschool,

In the process of fitting a universal bolt together type driveshaft loop to my KP starlet and need some advice.

Starlets are uni-body so needing to mount through the floor with top plates. There is nice flat spot in the floor pan on passengers side but on the driver side the only position within the required 250mm distance from the yoke has ribs in the floor pan.

My question being is mounting over the ribs like this acceptable with the additional minimum 3000mmsq plates on the underside? I used the curved section of the loop as it was easier to hold for the photos, but will obviously use the flat section for mounting to the floor. Will do a single bolt through at each rib with the appropriate plates.

I will be removing the sound deadening top and bottom once I've got the final position sorted, fuel line shown in photos will be getting re run out of the way so can ignore that issue.

    Cheers

    expires 19 December.

Despite worldwide shipping woes, stuff from here is still getting through in reasonable time.

Anyone else stuck shipping delays recently? I ordered parts 25th October, they left USA all good but have been sitting in transit in Sydney for the last 20 days with no estimate on arrival

  3. I've come across a diff center in the shed which I've got no idea where is came from, and unfortunately I also have no idea what it could even possibly be, Jap, Euro ...

Looks like a torsen style unit?

There is a stamped part number on the external edge of the carrier 4030-2600378. Google has been no help.

Uses NTN ET32008X side bearings. Google has again been no help.

Has 26 spline axles roughly 26mm OD.

10 bolts for the crown wheel at rough PCD of 130mm. Over all diameter is 156mm.

Can anyone school me on what it might be?

    Cheers Aaron

Given current circumstances its hardly even worth importing a boring every day car, just buy one thats already here. Be lucky to save $1000 and still run the risk it will need more than $1000 spent on it once its here.

Buy one you can go see and test drive

The more I look into it this is sounding like pretty good advice

    Read the thread lol

Yep.... have done that, hence my question for recent experience for a family wagon type import.

Most of this thread is from 4 years ago, and for non family type specialist cars.

Goo-net has been described an over priced translation website a couple of pages back, has anyone used it? Or just from browsing?

I'm aware of stacked, they are more into specialist cars not the every day auction stuff. I don't need a million point check with a compression test and 700 photos etc for 2015 Mazda, just someone that can confirm the auction sheet is accurate and get it on a boat.

I should have been more specific. I'll try again.

Anyone had recent experience with buying a family car from auction with someone that can inspect and put it on a boat?

  6. Hey oldschoolers, has anyone had recent experience with importing a vehicle? I'm looking for a boring family wagon.

Any recommendations for agents in Japan that can view cars, bid at auction and handle paper work shipping and insurance.

I'm happy to handle it from the port in NZ through compliance etc

Yep, Toyota Peacock, such a beautiful colour.
Looks blue in the shade but greeny in the sun.

Are you planning on repainting it peacock again?

I'm based in Wellington as well, would be cool to get together some time and talk KP

Yep definitely repainting original colour, I already have the paint.

For sure man, be good to good to get the 2 KPs together once mine is up and running

I have seen this hooning around our suburb for the last few weeks with the top off. Parked up yesterday looking like it hooned into the side of something that didn't give way at the intersection.
