  1. Hi guys, so I was reading online about this guys 20v 7agte in a ke70 race car, it produces around the 500hp mark. He says that he uses the 7afe crank in the bottom half of his 7age, but has used the end of the 4age 8 bolt crank ( supposedly a whooooole lot stronger ) I was just wondering how you'd go about doing this? Would it be worth it in the end? Im only after the 350HP mark in my ae85 with my 20v 7agTe... This way your able to use the 4age/ 4agze clutch and stuff which is easier to find/ replace/ save a few $$$. Any advice would be awesome. Cheers
  2. Yeah dude, ta22 diffs are drum, some of the T series te71 diffs are also drum? Be careful when looking at those, might end up with a S series instead. I believe most of the corona t series are all drums aren't they?
  3. In the long run, wouldn't T or E, even F is you can get em cheap enough, would be better? not sure about E series, but LSD's are quite common for T and F, and you can get cooler ratio's for them easily too like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRD-Spec-Final-Drive-5-375-Crown-Ring-Pinion-AE86-TE27-AA63-Toyota-6-7-diff-/120993495112?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2bc63848&vxp=mtr
  4. Yeah, its more of an upgrade than the ke30 diffs... If you sign up to the 'NZ Hachi' page on facebook, theres a guy called 'Ben Phillips?' he uses one in his ae85 and it seems to be alright, sold him one and he uses it as a daily I believe?
  5. How complete are you looking for? I got a ke36 diff - its in storage though, wouldn't be able to get to it till another fortnight or so, but I also have a ta22 rear end at home, got axles, no head ( I do have one, 4.1:1 but needs a new bearing? In it - thats what my mechanic said when he swapped it out for my 4.8 ) which i'll throw in as well if your keen. The ta22 diff has no brakes, so you'd need to sus that out, no handbrake cables, but i just used my ke35 ones and it works.
  6. OH, yeaaah, i dont have a million bucks, let alone eleventy I'll call around all places that have been suggested and see what time frame suits them the most, cost etc. Cheers for your help
  7. Are you Todd? From clubk? Over near Ambury farm? Im in no real rush dude, just thought i'd start seriously looking into it/ start to organise getting it into a shop/ someone to do it.
  8. Sweeeet Dude! Cheers for that, so i'll probably try chubb's tomorrow and take your advice.
  9. Yeah, that was the decision I was going to make, if I wanted the 4 point, I'd have to go down the line of the whole MANZ approved cage with log book/ racing license, but I was under the impression, that with a half cage, you'd only be needing a cert AS long as your car was certified as a 2 seater? Ideally, at the moment, its just going to be a road car. But it will be used at Hori Dori events as well as the odd Club-k trackday/ any other track day I can get it too.
  10. Hi guys, so im at the stage where i've almost got everything I need for my 20v 7agte ae85 build. Just gearbox/ ECU/ driveshaft remaining. I've been considering getting either a 4 point cage or a half cage for it, with both having a harness bar. But, im just curious as to where people would recomend, in Auckland to get it done? I have no problem throwing the car up on a trailer or towing it there, if its close enough, just want someone to do a good job at a fair price. - Its a car built on the Student allowance. Lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated, oh, and also. How long should I be considering for it to take to build?
  11. Nah, he didnt even road tune it though, 'cause being uncerted ( no reg/ no wof ) as its only jjust finished being put together.
  12. Not too sure if they have a dyno, I was recomended him by a whole heap of people, so assumed he was good. Will give him a call tomorrow and see if he'll remedy it. Cheers
  13. So story short, my mechanic fiddled with my twin 45's on my worked 4age when he was pissed. Been running about in it every so often for the last year - maybe 8 or 9 times? for a quick blat. And after we swapped the bodies/ running gear to another coupe we decided it was time to get the dellortoes fixed/ rejetted/ timing all set up/ flat spots all done... We took it to CSL in New market, paid $820 for him to repair, and he did. But now, it seems that there is a WHOLE LOT less power in the motor? No longer as quick, can not keep up anything slighted worked... We did get it back from him with the fuel regulator set on 1 ( the rally dudes that built the motor had it previously set to 3 ) We took it for a blat set on 1. No power whatso ever. Decided it might be due to the regulator being set on 1, so changed it back to 3. Still not as much power as prior and it still seems to be starving of fuel... I'm just wondering what could be wrong? I'm a Law student, and im no way a mechanic. But im thinking he could have buggered up the jets or soemthing? Should I take it back to him and ask WTF? Or what should I do? Any help is greatly appreciated. PS. Everything was exactly the same from my previous coupe. Right down to the interior...
  14. Second that, if you call the branch in Henderson, Auckland ( not sure if its the only one of not ) and ask for Hugh, just tell him that Bex's boyfriend sent you and he should hook you up if hes in a decent mood.
  15. Didn't some of the Altezza's come out with the F series LSD as well? except IRS or something?
  16. Hey dude, if your keen I got a spare T series housing that was off a Ta22, so its a tad longer than the ke35's 1356mm wide diff or something. I'm in Auckland, you'd just be needing a diff head, your brakelines and some brake housings for it. I maaay be able to help you out with a diff head with a 4.1 ratio but unsure what my 4.8 will be like... Weld on your leaf spring mounts and your set...
  17. Hahaha, looks a lot different from when we sold it to you mate, did you ever come up for that windscreen? Still got it sitting on top of a cabinet at home if you want it. We we're in the process of moving when you came up the second time. Did you ever manage to do that 7mgte conversion or whatever it was? Or still got the old holden motor in it
