If you can't afford to buy a new Audi then you can't afford to service an old one.
Who comes up with that? Ive had lots of old vws and audis and could afford to run them

They probably didnt put the chain on the back of the engine between the engine and trans though..... Stupid Audi.
The vr6 was the first engine vw engine to have that

Vw passat? Better buy then the s4, drop their cam chain tand the unlucky owner drops 10k to get it fixed
The v6 in the passat is not immune from cam chain problems either

Oh also need a plate light. I'll probably use a bolt style one/two
Cut a small bit out of the bottom of the tail light and glue in a bit of clear plastic

The 3.2 v6 is great buying, a mate picked up a real tidy nz new one for 3k, had done 290,000km but had full service history and had been looked after, with the rear muffler deleted they sound good too

And again
I'm pretty sure the piston was too tight to begin with. After honing the cylinder again, and rubbing the piston on a stone to smooth it off, it came in just above the minimum clearance
Too tight and probably not a very round piston or bore
-
Did you buy piston and barrel together? I've always had the machinists bore it to suit the piston, it's only $90 odd to get it bored
-
Just looking at the specs for ring gap on other air cooled engines and they all seem about the same as what you have. Have you pulled it apart yet?
-
Will the tacho cable hole let vapor through or will oil just get forced out?
-
On my xr it just had the head and crank case breather teed in together and vented to air box
