  1. I have a friend that will probably have all the parts to make an Uno turbo engine... Just a thought...
  2. A little video I made recently I thought you might enjoy hearing and seeing myte128 moving for a change. Good fun.
  3. Omg I just realised I haven't posted on this thread for 1 year! A lot have happened (if you don't frequent t124) since last year... EVLONE came over yesterday and we got it going, Yus! Since it’s a new start up from a rebuild we ran the oil pump up with an old shaft and a drill. This worked a treat and we didn’t end up with a mess all over the garage floor. Here it is sticking out of the front distributor hole. Plugged all the necessaries in and filled the gearbox with oil. Initial start up didn’t quite go to plan. It was running really rough and sounded like it was on 3… So some detective work was required. After assessing all the spark leads and checking the dizzy we figured out that I had cut the slot in the cam 180 degrees out! So we hooked the leads up appropriately and went to fire it up. Yeah, the battery connection wasn’t great. Hence the laughing. The next start up we didn’t film as it was getting ridiculous. But it goes. I drove it up the road with a loose tie rod and bottom ball joint (oops), drove it down the road, parked it and washed it. Ithe alignment was completely up the wack. +2 degrees camber and about 10mm of toe in… Un-driveable in other words. But I saw to that this avo and now it drives very nicely thank you very much. So anyway, I am so excited to have it running again. I’ll fine tune things and let you know about the hub, shaft, gearbox combo.
  4. I’ve finished some bracing of the known weak points in 128's (thinking that almost 3 times the power of the original may need some strengthening); The sway bar mounts and also the engine bay brace mount too. I gooped some seam sealer on and some paint too. It should do the trick. It aint pretty... Also got a bit drastic on the bearing replacement repair... Everything seems ok except this little gouge in #2. My expert engine man says it looks ok... Gonna take the #4 conrod and piston to the man tomorrow for him to measure it all up to see if the bearing housing is at fault. Granny steps.
  5. With the damage that happened on the next run after the video above I haven't driven the car, however... I spent 3 hours or so in the garage today with a couple of assistants . We managed to get quite a bit done. We got the engine on the ground. Took the sump off. Whipped the crank out Did some measuring. As suspected, bearing failure... This is the worst one on the left and most aren’t great. Bearing appear original. The problem with this bearing failure is that it has caused this. Which may not be too bad as it seems round and possibly could be polished up. I’ll go ask the man on Monday. So this is where I am at as of now. Bits all over the place... Clutch pressure or plate is suspect at higher boost, crank needs a polish, new bearings, new bolts, new seals, hub carriers still to sort, driveshafts to assess, windage tray to build and everything else that goes along with all that... ho hum...
  6. Hi there, I have done the fiat tarmac events recently with reasonable success. First event I was 4th out of 32, 2nd event I was 12th out of 48. Both times I won my class 2.2L and above . However the last time I went out I set my fastest time and damaged a big end bearing by the sounds of it I blame Heath and Keegan, they kept beating my times!, I will pull the engine out and start again, while the engine is out I will do some more chassis strengthening. It might take a while to put it back together as I have to renovate my house at the same time . Here's a video of the last event, my dad it is at the wheel on his 2nd run and the skidpan is still slightly wet (this is a 46.22second run), I did a 41.82 such fun, shame about the end result ...
  7. Well it had to happen. I have 13psi boost now and also the 2nd gear wheelspin in the dry that comes with that!
  8. Cheers for the kind words guys, I really have enjoyed building it to this stage, even though sometimes it felt like a one step forward two steps back affair... A special treat for me; ultimately this is what I built the car for... Summer, Family, The beach, So it was very exciting to get it down there (even though the beach is 1km from my house...) I was so excited I even set the camera to 70's mode.
  9. Hi there, I thought I’d add some before and after shots of the 128. I’ve lost quite a few pics over the years but these show how much of a change the car has gone through. Before After Here’s a standard 128 engine bay, not my one of course. Mine Dashboard before. After And a few images from today. 70’s car in front of the 70’s house, nice.
  10. Not very many UT's left in NZ now. Most have rusted away... It's a shame we don't have a website that tells us how many are left like this one in the uk... http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=fiat+uno+turbo
  11. It hasn't been out much; did you see it at Maurice thomson's when it was getting its lvvc?
  12. Cheers guys. It's all about what I can find that fits and is cheap ie, get the parts off fiat mates
