  1. Oh and the outside of the door is slightly better than the inside. Its had a dulux recon and a couple of bashes to get it shitting so its good to go
  2. Ness went to the pub to watch the cricket (meh) so I got the door and tailgate off Super awesome door repairs Nice rusty tailgate And the awesome kickplate/reat wing thing that someone has screwed to the roof
  3. I haven't looked there yet, looks like the drivers a pillar is rusty. iwas having a chat to the panel beater the other day when I dropped off the cst10 and he said it was a prick of a job to get them lined up right. It was 'bare metalled' by the previous owner and painted (I believe at a tech or something) then parked outside under a tarp. I dont see any prep work under the bog against the bare metal so am not surprised at the rust coming through. The sweet brazing looks goof after a stripper disc though Recommendations on a semi perminant rust resistant sealer to put over the bare stuff for now. I'm using zink spray for now as it was free
  4. Less fucked door is on, and the rusty fucked tailgate is off. The door was bent and is missing all its rubber etc so I'll have to carefully strip the old door. The replacement tailgate is just a skin too so I'll need to figure out how the hinge mounting plates come off the old one. Oh and does anyone know where that spring thing mounts on the body? And the bracket that holds the sping in the tailgate went flying so hopefully I can find it tomorrow
  5. Got it outiside and pulled the nose cone off and started doing some grinding. it appears all the doors have been dipped in bog and the rest of the car has had a few layers slapped on. No unexpected rust yet but It all needs to come off now. The more I grind off the more rust spots appear. I have a replacement for that last door thankfully Oh and here is one of the badge on the back
  6. oh and ordered body mounts from rock auto so i'll have to borrow the parents neighbors hoist and chuck them in, Energy suspension performance bushes the packet said. Its stilla bog ol' boat to drive
  7. Failed compliance on rust on under body etc, I thought it was surface and should of been ok. Took it to a panel beater neal recommended and I only need a patch under the battery tray 9which my mate fixed) and some waxy clear coat stuff on the surface rust in the a pillars. Bonus on both the bill side and I get to keep the 'patina' which is what all the cool kids like right?
  8. That cloth tape is such a mission to get off latemodel cars so should last really well!
  9. It went ok, top speed in the tonner seems to be 80-90 whatever is on/in it I'm pleased at how it went. Neal just find another sedan and I'll bring over my saber saw and arc welder
  10. Cb radio is on the cards and it came with crappy house speakers! Its even got a sheepskin front bench cover. I might have to make a frame for the mattress as there is a lpg tank in the boot
  11. Yes! I wonder if hq stubs will fit the trailer hubs....
  12. mayte, so many snapped necks when people saw what was towing it, only time it complained was going up the bombays. It knocked a bit but still made it up above 50 (just)
  13. discussion for : //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47518-chris-ness-rusty-72-hq-wagon/
  14. I had typed a long story buy closed the window by accident and aren't writing it again. Big thanks to nathan & greg for collecting and storing this until I could get it. I got it home saturday, chucked some fuel in the tank and water in the radiator and it started after a bit of encouraging. Found that the fuel pump was spraying fuel everywhere so now its running on lpg. plans are to fix rust, get a wof with the 202 and drop a 253/308 into it and drive Genuine holden service tool discussion://oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47520-chrisr-ness-hq-wagon/
  15. So who has rust repair/sand blasting hookups?
  16. Ain't nothing like last minute, I didn't have the right paperwork for compliance but a email and phone call and I had a copy emailled to me so back for second attempt tomorrow and fingers crossed for a clean sheet. (I know I'm dreaming)
  17. I'm shit at photos, Ain't nothing like last minute. Its booked in for compliance Monday. As of tonight the wipers wipe, the squirter squirt and the high stop light is pretty bloody bright and it reflects off the tailgate. oh and the dash lights work too. I re did the main earth to the block and the battery to starter wire. It cranks over nicley now. I'll wait and see what it fails on
  18. Took it for a spin around the block and its actually got power now, Was pleasantly surprised how quick it got moving
  19. I need some customs/maf paperwork apparently so have sent a email off to the guy I purchased the truck from so hopefully i can get that sent up and take it in for compliance, might need some rust work.
  20. I cheated and put a new washer bottle/pump assembly in, It looks tidy enough and doesn't have the water lies running through the firewall. I set the idle mixture and now it actually idles and starts. Just need to take it for a spin and see how it behaves now
  21. Adjusted the timing and it actually starts nicely now, Felt rich and filled it up and it was only $120 haha. Taking it into see a complance guy for a pre check tomorrow so hopefully I wont have much more to do
  22. No pictures as I couldn't find the camera, Replaced all the front wheel studs tonight, I thought it was too easy so timed it. 23 mins to jack it up, pull drums & hub off, smack out the old studs and smack in the new adjust the shoes and slap the wheel back on. Since that went so easily I thought I'd attack the non working washer pump had tp pull all the old brittle air con ducting out along with the radio and ash tray. Ipulled it out and put the seal kit in it. still didn't work and all the hoses are split and perished. I'll cheat and put a universal inline pump in it tomorrow and get some new hoses
  23. Thanks Its got a 350, untill I get rich/silly enough to swap it for something
