If its not registered as a motor home you'll have to apply for a tsl, sit a test and pay some monies and show that when you take it for a cof.

Its a ballache, messy and I've been looking for a way around it (as have many many others Inc horse truck drivers etc)

once upon a time, trucks/buses/motorhomes could be 'down-rated' to meet the 6T threshold, but i believe this has been removed about same time they removed 'supplementary RUCs, for vehicles operating well under the GLW/GCW

$1800 no reserve listing on TradeMe then. Must be what the scrappy has in mind.

    definately put on trade me.
got $2k for the rusty wheelbarrow, as the chassis/tags made a good starting point for the hot-rod enthuiast that bought it.
jap chassis are the go to now, as HQ ute getting thin on ground, and require work for many applications

What a load of bullshit. So anything i dont like the price of, I can just take them to court and get it cheaper because "the sum of the components is less than the complete part"? He should be thankful he has a Toyota and not a Euro.

maybe, when he bustled into dealership demanding a free replacement, the dealership rightfully added "wanker-tax" , and that was what the court managed to remove from the fee ?

Was talking to a mate yesterday about this sort of thing yesterday after he got quoted 3k or something stupid like that to replace a proximity key , I have come to the conclusion that if a car doesn't have a key you poke into the ignition then it's too new and I don't want to know about it.

    Even better

    Regards,your friend the cave man.

any thing built after 2005 can stay outside my ownership, unless i could afford to buy new, and on-sell with balance of warranty

I'm looking at a vehicle with dead rego and no plates no body tag early 1970s

Is it possible to Identify vehicle from engine number which I have and appears to be original engine...

    If so how ?

i we know the make/model, someone maybe able to tell you were to find the stamping.

have an old '56 Holden ute here with plates and possible original engine, but due to having no tags/chassis number, was told i needed to do a 'paper file search' to make sure i have 2 correctidentifiers

The gummint does record the engine number in the licence/ rego database, but depending on how long it's been dereg, they may not have the records any longer.

my understanding is all registered vehicles still have the paper file, but does costs a pretty penny for the search.

they must have updated some of it, as our Sunbeam Sport was listed as 'plate never issued' on carjam, as was re-vinned, but de-regoed a very long time ago.......... it now comes up as a un/de-registered Sunbeam Sport

    Neat thanks @smokin' joe

i see you got it up there. just watch for cowboys.
many claim to be in business, but do not have required permits. i did go for a run with one of these yesterday, as only had small window to get my damaged LC80 back to Timaru, although he does claim to have paperwork in process.

I've decided it's time for a compressor upgrade, my current supercheap direct drive one is very noisy and struggles to keep up when spraying large panels. Any thoughts on this one? Intended mostly for painting and sandblast cabinet, I don't have any other air tools.

    https://www.thetoolshed.co.nz/product/552-toolshed-belt-drive-compressor-3hp-50l-12-5cfm?categoryId=2179

you can't stretch the budget to the 16CFM unit ?
12cfm will run tools / guns etc, but at a pinch, and will need good water traps to remove condensate

I know, but I'd want to get shocks to match

yes, so if you have a 'soft' shock, then find approriate spring to set height, and either get the originals rebuilt/replaced.
unless going stupid low between warrants, would waste my time with coil-overs unless there are other items needing cert
