With a timing light

Did you check the ignition timing after the new belt was on?

Does anybody know what is needed for a wof in regards to smoke?
If there is no smoke once it warms up when you give it a rev, it will pass.

Everywhere I've read says reverse lights need to work if fitted, but not an issue if they aren't fitted
Correct. Reverse lights are a permitted lamp. So you don’t need them.

So if im reading that right, RX3 Is MA therefore a internal rear view mirror is ok?
Yes, Pre 2000 MA only needs a right wing mirror or an interior mirror,
BUT, if you have tints, you must have wing mirrors on both sides.
(See note 1 in above link)

The virm has just been updated to say cameras can be used in place of mirrors, but it would need to be on all the time the car is on, not just in reverse.
https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/vision/rear-view-mirrors
Your 720 Is class NA (Ute) so must have a right side and either an interior OR left side mirror.
(See tables and images in the link above)
New flat deck utes usually get spacers/extensions for the wing mirrors.

Did you put the spark plug leads back on the right plugs?

I’m not worried if we have one this month or not, but if we do, wholly bagel might be a good option?

It does not need to work, but it does need to be up so the safety markings can be checked.

I had service parts for the Tiger ready and waiting for any potential lockdowns, so I got off the couch today.
Changed oil and filter, replaced spark plugs.
Found it had a K&N. Gave that a clean and re-oil.
Airbox has been modded for max dorts. There is usually only one opening and there should be a snorkel. (Speed Triples have both holes open)
Spark plugs were definitely due
I wish I could go for a test ride.

There is one exception:
“3. A vehicle first registered anywhere between 1 February 1977 and 31 March 1980 may be fitted with a second pair of dipped-beam headlamps”My guess is the VTNZ guys assumed it was originally like that.
Here are the rules https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/lighting/headlamps

https://www.toymods.org.au/forums/threads/48436-1VD-FTV-V8-Diesel-Information
This guy reckons 1VD is 10-12cm wider and 182kgs heavier that a UZ

Have you sized up the 1VD? They are not small.
For number 2, have you considered a 2GR?

You can have one pair of dipped and two pair of high beam.
