  1. Decided to have a play with the turbo back to the inlet manifold of engine. It occurred to me how much extra work it will be to have it blow through. So dummied it all up draw through and stood back..... makes everything so much easier think I'll just do it. Just going to do 2x 90 degree bends off inlet manifold as its 2 barrel and straight in to the 2" tube.
  2. Something like a 3 piston air con pump converted to run as 2 stroke would be cool and real compact. https://hackaday.com/2019/12/04/building-an-engine-with-an-a-c-compressor/ You could actually build a grunter with your 2 stroke knowledge though.
  3. Soldered the lot together went for a light hoon and had a weird lack of revs available snipped diode out, back to normal. Have ordered 2 more diodes but at least the wiring is all done, have bunged a generic kill switch on bars for now.
  4. Ive now run 2 cores 1 per coil up to the wiring box under the frame, i found a big diode from a microwave oven in my stash which just goes across the wiring for normal coil separation if i ground one pin it kills the engine, If i ground the other pin it kills the front cylinder giving me torque management for taking off from a stop. My clutch is pretty bitey so when taking off from anything other than dead straight its a bit dicey this will take care of that. Now need a momentary button and a latching button to make it work on handle bars. For now though ive got a way of killing the engine as before if anything happens your only option is to jump.
  5. Well i finally fixed the lack of a functioning kill switch ive been whipping leads off to kill it for about 8 months. With the sad rear cylinder it'd die slowly just pulling the front one so i got away with it now its been rebuilt it'll happily chug away with one lead off. The chain and engine had to come off the mount plate so i could get the cover off the side of engine to access coils. As i suspected theres diodes in line to separate the coils, the rear diode failed and became more of a resistor partially grounding out through the front coil at idle hence the impression of a bad coil i thought i had. The diode upstream for the front coil had also stopped working too hence i couldn't kill the engine with ground wire it would at best make it idle shit.
  6. Pretty sure once you have it idling it'll be finished as soon as the last parts arrive from Ebay. should totally make it run.
  7. Such a healthy sounding little engine on this thing!
  8. Attempted to "show him how its done" on the road hit a low manhole during a spin and it dumped me off and popped tyre off the rim. Balls! tyres all good but haven't been able to get sleeve back on. Hes able to ride it again though so still happy.
  9. My ex fell down stairs so im dad again...... pretty sure thats acceptable to everyone? Anyway my boy can finally have a bash on this decided to let him loose on grass first to get used to it as it spins rather aggressively on hard surfaces and can get a bit of pace on. Hes rolled it twice buttoning off into a spin but jumped straight back on again and given it berries straight away. Fortunately you just plop of next to it when it digs so don't get beat up.
  10. Im so out of shit to build with! All my scrap has been chopped up more than once....hence that gross brake caliper bracket ive got some new stuff on the way to finish this off but for now its fully functional and a hoot to ride. If only i had my kids to try it out.
  11. Pulled the centrifugal clutch off and removed 5 turns of spring out the clutch pack and lubricated the bushings as its always dragged a bit. Also cleaned up the engine shaft as i had to turn it down due to it been an odd size originally and think it had a slight lump in it. Now it revs up about an extra 500 rpm and can keep the wheels going after a spin way better! Screams its tits off, and will also sit still and idle. Pic of installed axle too.
  12. Pretty sure every time i roll out a new project house prices drop.
  13. Some neighbours are a fan some not so much. To be fair i could hear their music over the engine the entire time and waited till at least 2 lawnmowers were running. The engine has a massive muffler i made so its actually pretty quiet. Cant wait for lock down to end.
  14. Figured out how to stuff these tyres into the sleeves using a ratchet strap to squish them down, then some soapy water on both sides the slipped in really snug.
  15. Took this for a blat around back lawn today. Seat pretty good, Ported heads holy shit extra good!! Kill switch.... died. gotta whip both leads off to stop it and its dead wiring at coils which means engine off. Oh as a side note since doing heads its about 3 times as loud, i think this might be a problem as great as it sounds i cant sneak out on it like this it sounds so gnarley spits flames and sounds like a drag bike.
  16. I bunged a seat on it and buzzed around back lawn on it for an hour brakes work well it still gets up and boogies and can pull a donut with me on not bad for a 5 horse. ...........drift sleeves tomorrow i think.
  17. Took 6 hours to fix this but its alive again. The big wave rotor on the brakes ended up been way to big so i bought a smaller one and a new carrier got choppy with the dildo saw. Second attempt at a Kimjon spec "sprotar" this time it worked i slipped tube into the new carrier and drive the 2 halves of axle in with a 8 pound sledge then welded it. This process took ages as i had the same 5mm runout again but i knew everything was driven in straight. I ended up finding the longer side was bent at the carrier i cut it bent it and welded it boom no runout! Yus.
  18. Rough as fuck found a chair id chopped legs of ages ago for some tube for something random.... Anyway made a very rough but actually not horrible to sit on squab has a bit of foam padding.
  19. Discovered as much fun as standing up is when the front wheel comes up you want to sit your ass down real fast, Only problem is you had a choice of the SU carby or the exhaust to sit on so i started scratching my head and remembered i still have factory airbox. Typical honda its so over engineered you can drop a bomb on it........ or a 90kg human. TLDR ? I threw the guts out few nips with grinder and it now fits and doesn't interfere with the carbs return springs, surprisingly makes a good seat. Will add some foam and a vinyl cover job done
  20. Lay it out on the floor in an imaginary motorbike shape it'll come to you rather quick.
  21. You'll have this ready for cert by end of this lockdown. Good shit!
  22. Did pointless shit this morning..... got up at 5am so i don't end up sleep fucked when i start my new job on 14th. Hopefully can use this as lunch bar transport. Headlights for no real reason other than i had soldering iron plugged in and got carried away. Oh and fixed the dodgy deck that sat jacked up for ages after i welded bracket in wrong place a year ago. If i bung indicators and a tail light on and sneeze a bit im sure i can get this registered.
  23. Did the valve lash adjustment set gaps on plugs got it all spot on. They were tight infact probably holding valves open slightly on rear cylinder, As expected its spot on now absolutely sings crisp and happy, i mowed the lawn with it today in lieu of a blat up road. I really want to throw a grumpy cam in it.....
  24. Way of the future man. Just a pity the driveline adds up so quickly when you use these engines If i had a lathe I'd chuck a front wheel drive gearbox on it..... or a harley gearbox.
