  1. I might just go small less problems, this cooler came as part of the Tony's Turbo Garage kit i bought and chopped up. Can save this setup for non road events.
  2. It blocks the top 120mm of cooler and is a big square tube... quite annoying
  3. Second cock-up of my build picked up by @cletus ive chopped my bumper support and that was silly. What are my options? If i move the intercooler behind it the top of intercooler will be blocked and all of my air conditioning will be in way. I can fit a smaller intercooler and just suck it up and see if it limits air temps. Can I leave the intercooler where it sits now and fabricate a replacement bumper bar from tube that uses the intercooler as the collapsible section? Can get Dave Bray chassis shop to help out here (my preferred option) What's going to please a certifier more? It will see the track but I don't want it getting there on a trailer.
  4. It will fit behind the bar if i remove the air-conditioning which I've spent quite a bit of extra work already trying not to do. I did try leaning it but would need to be on such an angle it wouldn't work and block airflow for radiator. Catch 22 there's definitely a way so many others have done it already.
  5. Well that's black and white been a while since I read the LVVTA bible...... Current plan is obtain a bumper beam not mess with it and sneak a less tall intercooler under it same specs just not as tall can carry on as is for now get it running and worry about this later. As pipework locations will be same. Got lots to fabricate intercooler pipework a battery to move and wiring for my reversed inlet manifold to do. @cletus I take it putting intercooler pipes through panelwork in engine bay is a no can do now? Eg coming through where airbox was and battery. I can try squeeze it between radiator but would rather not.
  6. Well fuck.... lucky I kept the piece I cut out. I'll work on moving it back further. Could I get a replacement fabricated Or its just new car stuff that can't be messed with? I won't lose sleep tonight over cutting a removable part as a smaller intercooler is always an option. Thanks for heads up.
  7. Broke out the angle grinder and created a space for the intercooler tried to be conservative left some structure in it so it's not all floppy 2x 8mm bolts and the intercooler is hanging securely off it. Now I can start making intercooler pipes and fitting up the turbo setup.
  8. Took this to Frankton Thunder this year and to KFC once..... I reckon it's safe to pull off road now and make a start on the final push. Hoo roo bumper! I need an intercooler in here. Bumper support is obviously in way and power steering cooler just behind it. A bit of force moved the power steering cooler and its bracket easily enough.
  9. Thought I had crossover pipe all sorted so did wee trial fit today found it ends up straight into sway bar mount. Fuck it re do it all. Turned out nice had a good few hours asphyxiating my self with argon loved every minute. Engine is now sitting at the perfect angle I can see it in garage from dinner table.
  10. Thanks I'll see where it sits in car as closer to firewall = shorter wiring back to controller and ecu. Wonder if turbulence from wastegate will be an issue.
  11. Sorry to Semi-hijack where would be the best place to fit the sensor on a turbo downpipe? Bosch type not 100% what ive got yet. Pipe goes straight down from the blue cap.
  12. If I can't figure out how to narrow the track out back I'd happily cobble some flares together to look like this using scumbag holden adventra parts. Only need 15mm to get tread under car 25mm to cover rim. 275's are slightly stretched on these 10" rims a 315/30 would fit with flares
  13. Are the thrust washers (in engine) shagged? Check endfloat of crank I battled clutch problems for ages because I didn't want pull a running engine out. They can fall into sump if your real unlucky engine will run fine for a while but you will add a couple off mm to your clutch stroke. See below not much too them
  14. What! You mean these brakes might be bad too.
  15. These might may just stay in Taiwan for now. So cheap yet not cheap enough to risk been garbage.
  16. The ones on trademe are these, how can you sell stuff that's bogus in nz?
  17. Been looking around the marketplace for new springs and shocks for my VY COMMODORE guessing the algorithm noticed. I'm not looking to slam my car but some flexibility would be nice if it were adjustable led me to finding below Maxpeedingrods coilover setup incredulously cheap! It will be road legal im not about TikTok views so needs to get thumbs up from a certifier down the track. But seriously is this a scam or manufactured from Taiwan grade cheese alloy. All the parts are infact commodore shaped and instructions do list what they don't fit indicating they have some feedback.
  18. Back off again till I find some Ford Ranger flares or something. They'll work im just not going to commit automotive butchery today till I think about it a bit more.
  19. My stupid wheel nuts I bought for drag day actually look alright because the wheels are so deep.
  20. Well I wanted 275's out back they fit around all the moving parts but poke out a lot I can get a bit of pull on guards to cover them. But might see if I can find narrower rear arms as there surprisingly is heaps of room on inside. Looks pretty hoony
  21. Yeah these are made by Ronal, ive always found a factory made set of rims so much more hardy with potholes and shit roads. And spokes that go to the edge although not as cool as a lip are stronger again.
  22. Been a while I very nearly got knocked on a WOF before drag day as my rear tyres are down a bit on tread some life left but not much. I bought some 275 tyres to see if they might fit as I want meats out the back. Fluked these BMW X5 m Spec rims in 19x9 front and 19x10 rears off market place today for basically scrap value. They should look mint! Can also chuck a 255 up front as well. Turbo stuff not on hold as such just doing my bit with small stuff like catch cans and power steering reservoir and radiator over flow relocations. Meanwhile its nice driving it.
  23. I'll keep it in mind for an option but I've just put a wastegate right where the inlet is there and tge plumbing where the coils are. Might work better for someone converting a hilux or something. Cool to see how yanks set them up though.
