  1. Well, it was overcast/rainy today whether that'd make any difference (shouldn't, if comparing with a sample) It is not a factory tint - it was done December 2023, i know that the tint shop checked the glass before tinting (which came out to zero) then I asked for minimum legal VLT of 35%. I don't think they checked the VLT afterwards. The AA testing station I went to where another car failed for too dark tint, they said it was 13% (i knew it was too dark anyway so that's fine), obviously they measured VLT to give me the figure, rather than blanket "too dark" I'll go to the tint shop and get a piece of paper with a number on it and hope for the best, but I'm just curious where the onus lies. VIRM says this, so I assume that you'll have to measure it to pass/fail it. Note 8 A tolerance of 5% is permitted for the visible light transmittance (VLT) reading, to compensate for variations in tint film and light meters.
  2. is the onus of proving whether the window tint is legal or not on the wof inspector or the owner? just failed on that, im thinking if the inspector was to fail it, VLT must be measured objectively using a calibrated machine (and allow for 5% tolerance per VIRM), rather than using a 35% VLT sample piece (which is what the inspector did) i produced the invoice from the tint shop stating the VLT of the tint used (which i keep in the car just in case like this - but never happened) but he would only accept a signed certificate of some sort from the tint shop showing the measured VLT. the guy never mentioned anything about that last 2 times i took the car for the wof, which makes it more puzzling (unless tint degrades over time and goes darker)
  3. nzta put me in touch with vtnz branch which can inspect and change class - they said a couple hundy for fees (i think) and just fold the seats down and have it fixed (so that it wont be able to be reverted for seating readily , i.e. without tools) i think they said i wont even need to remove seat belts. its a wagon. i "may" need the cargo divider, but not sure.
  4. yup im aware of that section of virm, actualli i asked vtnz about some (i thought to be) contradiction in ther but apparently i was wrong. but anyway, just wondered how these cars get away with ~5% vlt tints (i had 5% glare strip), big stickers with some sort of "car club logo" or filipina thing or RIP whatever someone s name is, usually south auckland cars. was tossing up going NA but apparently extra 40 bux rego for up to 0% vlt rear side and back.
  5. Do less than 35% VLT pass WOF, if OE fitment? There are heaps, I think most of them being Japanese import have way darker than 35% VLT. How strict are the WOF outfits when it comes to tint and gigantic stickers and such? I got pinged for supposedly 13% tint (came with the car) and I think that was about right.
  6. its like this. looks like its not complete though, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 9th 10th and 11th ed. each sheet ~6x8". i tried at my local library and i can make things out pretty well. i cant remember as its been a while but i could save as digital image on usb stick or print. not sure what you have around your area though.
  7. i ll take a pic for u
  8. @ThePogi ve a few parts fische for x, if you want.
  9. lol you know the pick a part way - smash everything out of the way and then some just because... will PM.
  10. i think it's the typical arrangement with clips on the top window channel and double sided tape. the fiddly part is to get the clips out without cracking the plastic. its got a few clips (3 for front and 2 for rear) and double sided tape on the top edge and also a little pad at the B pillar ends. probably a fishing line or a skinny jnr hacksaw blade to cut thru the double sided tape and hopefully the clips fall out. have a quick practice on the rear left side and see how easy (or not) before spending too much time. tbh im terrible at this myself, destroyed a few of them at PaP practicing lol. here are some photos of them off car. cheers
  11. curious myself. a while back i had a few more grooves added to bilsteins (it might have been too low or not low enough) and had wof no problem but i dont know it was whether the inspectors were slack.
  12. If anyone happens to be heading that way, it'd be cool to have RHS monsoon shields front and rear picked if in good shape. cheers
  13. if either of you can help me out that d be great. time is not an important factor at all, so whichever way is most convenient for you guys suit me fine. tia FSR thread here for less spam here cheers
  14. well, trying my luck, just in case. if no one's driving up, i'll figure something else out.
  15. pardon me for spam but i thought i d post here too for max exposure. i ll see myself out now. @smokin'joe has kindly offered to bring a spare tyre/wheel i bought on TM to hanmeet. if anyone can take it up to Auckland (or as close as possible and store til the summer - currently 2nd week in a leg cast of 12 weeks total) it d be greatly appreciated.
