  1. So back to the 2AR as an alternate again, depending on height to fit.

China/Russia/Thailand got a 6AR which is 86x86mm (2L) how would a crank from a 6AR (sourced from thailand) go in the 2AR as a destroke from a rod to stroke perspective?

Custom rods maybe needed or to raid the parts bin ror something suitable

Looked at the new corolla engines (m20a) ?

That box looks way different, bit bigger as well I think. Likely R series like R154 sorta thing.
J160 might be a little on the fragile side, but hooning rpm through it rather than a big torque bomb should help in that regard.
Although interesting to see that the start motor is indeed on the engine side on that box.

Its meant to be based off a truck motor so possibly similar to the R150 etc range but a newer design

  3. The IS250's AY6/RA62 transmission

Isn't the J160 also an Aisin box? I'd say it has more aftermarket support as well currently if you can make it work with the engine

Re ITB if you could sync both tps couldn't you join the signal and divide it by 2 and then have the output go to both DBW controllers?

    Possibly oversimplifying this

  4. Thoughts on clutch options? guessing for your power level needs you won't need anything too aggressive

Any plans to keep the DI and then also run port injection? or just going port injection as its easier.

Im tipping with a decent intake and exhaust your looking 200kw, maybe a little more with some cams/headwork/aggressive timing

  5. Nice, know some ex Toyota Australia people that think the 2GR is one of the best motors Toyota has made and the 4GR is just less capacity.

Apparently they make ok power with a intake and exhaust change as the factory stuff is restricted and they run factory rich

I know you'll do your magic though, hoping for DBW ITBs again :)

Some Hiluxs had the v6 as well so may be able to use a RWD box from that family.

    cheers man.

the headers have been coated..we actually put a model of a mk3 in a wind tunnel .. just on the internet one night while having beers.. and there's a low pressure area right at the back of the bonnet and it will actually restric air coming out. (I know I've got some real needs as mates lol).  but at the half way make on the bonnet like where they are and the factory cosworth as well as evos and heaps of other cars ... the air going over the bonnet helps pull the heat out.. (that's my understanding of it.....I was drinking ...they were explaining).......     even though lifting the rear of the bonnet was my 1st plan.... probably not now.

Makes perfect sense, yeah no point lifting the back if its not going to help :)

Hopefully it helps drop down the engine bay temps be keen to see the before and after

  7. These are top feed correct? Any idea on length? Pretty sure Toyota 1NZ-FE injectors are the same/similar size and have better hole pattern/atomisation.

Common to swap them into the 1gfe Lexus IS200 as they run better

    @Roman can you confirm?

Edit 1nzfe injectors are high impedance

  8. Any idea what the drum vs disc rear end weight difference is? If not would be keen to read about it when you do it :p

I'd also be keen to understand if it gives you slightly better braking performance, remind me are you getting any brake fade currently? In saying that swapping out pads each track day is surely easier then swapping drum shoes?

Hopefully sideskirts make a difference, I think they look good though.

Curious on how you utilise the filter options and see what you come up with.

  9. What year 4g93? Early model (GSR same year as evo 1-3) will be narrow block and will use the same narrow gearbox as the 4g63s use

Fuel mentioned that l200 1980 onwards have the narrow block gearboxes or the RWD Sigmas

  10. Remind me is this running an electric waterpump?

If so is it running a constant or varible flow rate based on criteria? What are the thermostat dimensions? Be interesting to see how it compwres to say a 4age one size wise.

What temp does the thermostat open at?

Edit: google says Japanese Prius Tech Manual says the thermostat specification is starting to open at 82C (180F) and fully open at 95C (203F)

Can always drill a couple of holes into the thermostat if need be right?

  11. I normally run my radiator temp sensors in the top rad hose as that's generally the hottest point and run the fans off that. Are you going to also set the ecu up so that the fans turn off at a certain speed? From memory anything over 60km and the fan is useless, can't remember but do you have shrouding on the rad with the fans? Any flappers?

Be interesting to chuck and air intake temp sensor in front if the rad as well

Keen to read about results :)

  12. Yip sold being picked up tomorrow, guy that's buying it will be getting it finished off professionally. It's his 4th one he's brought (sold his last one when his son was born) slightly conflicted about selling it as I doubt I'll ever be able to get another one

Got a few spares I'll have to sell separately but got a price im happy with, and gives me some space back ete

Stay tuned on what I end up getting next. (Probably be end of next year)

Hoping a few things will come up as interest rates rise and people have less cash etc but will keep an eye out for deals/what pops up at the car auctions
