  1. Ok beer with me as this is probably gonna sound very strange but this is the plan I've settled on. I have a 1990 celica which I poured a ton of money into and now I want to sell it. Thing is I had the motor rebuit 2000k ago at the cost of 7k. Everythings new, oil pump, pistons, bored, honed, rebuilt head, decked block, steel head gasket, race bearings, adj cam gears etc. At the moment its running factory power but built to handle 350rwhp. So I'm gonna swap it with a cheap second handy and fit the 3sgte into the crown with a link and new turbo injectors etc. Aiming to get that 350. Considering the crowns the same weight or lighter than the celica it should go quite well and this way I'm not loosing a shit ton of money on the celica.
  2. As stated, roughly what sort of power figures can you throw at a factory ms65 diff (assuming its in good condition) and what sort of upgrades have been done easily. I would like to upgrade to a disc rear end with a wider track, around 20mm each side would be ideal.
  3. I imagine he means independent throttle bodys I had definately considered that and may still go that route for economy and power but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I also thought a set of tripple delotos with trumpets could be pretty cool. Al this isn't going to happen for a while if it happens at all but ill definately let you know if this project gets under way.
  4. Or you could buy it and do that. Then I don't have to own a holden engine
  5. As much as I dislike the idea of having 2 cars with this setup would you be interested in buying one if I made two. Go halves in the cost? 3m style made to fit the 2jz heads perfectly. We have a team of brilliant designers that can be persuaded to design and program the cnc for the right quantity of beer
  6. That is very interesting! The reason I was going to go with the m series is the originality factor. It will look like the original engine that's been modified. But I would like to avoid m series if I can. I still think it will be a fun project, but as pointed out there will be endless problems. IF a 7m and a 4m fall into my lap for the righ price I may still persue this for shits and giggles. Otherwise the 2jz will be the answer.
  7. This could definately work. I will do some thinking.
  8. Hmm, you raise a valid point.
  9. Could a mod please change the title to something about 4m head and 7mgte block and move this to the tech section. Ta
  10. Lol feel free man, I'm always open to any info I can get. Criticism etc.
  11. I'm assuming that's sarcasim? If the research I've done is correct the reason the 7ms blow head gaskets is related to the head design not the block design.
  12. Yeah that doesn't worry me. I work for a large engineering company so that sort of thing I should be able to make work with the help of a few designers and some cnc machines The plan I had was to take the 4m head, mount it to the 7mgte block, modify the water jackets as required, rebuild the head with different springs and a semi race cam, get the crank or crank pulley modified to accept the chain drive crank gear. Have the block modified to accept the tensioner as required or make an adaptor and run a sc12 super charger with dual su carbs. Why? Looks period, would sound epic, fun engineering project should make ok hp figures with good torque figures and its different. Plus if I can get a 4m and a cracked head or bhg 7m for cheap the whole project should come in at roughly 2k max.
  13. This could pose a problem....... I figure I'm going to have to do some mill work to modify the water jackets to line up but was hoping it would bolt up sweet.
  14. Fairly sure. As the gearbox is not factory. It was put in with the 186. I will look a bit closer tonight but I know its not a crown box.
  15. Duh, ofcourse they are. Cutting and welding won't be a problem. I didn't even think to look just assumed there would be a removable cross member. No worries al, cheers anyway. I'm going to keep the crown obviously. Would love your century motor but money restraints limit me to this idea for now. Also for anyone interested I'm running a w55 gearbox so the bell housing attached is for a w series.
  16. I'm after a factory 4m crown engine and ENGINE MOUNTS to trade for my current 186 engine and engine mounts. My car has declaration and motor was rebuilt 100,000kms age. Motor is in good condition apart from oil leaks. I have plans involving the 4m head and a 7mgte block so am looking for a trade. Will happily swap all parts over on spot with help from trader. This motor is ideal for the crowns, good torque and still firly economical for age. New engine to be a good runner or cash my way to be provided depending on condition. My car is manual and donor car would need to be manual or appropriate parts supplied with donor.
  17. Anyone going to watch the boxing after? And if so where? I'm trying to find a half decent pub to head to..
  18. I'm keen for this Thursday. Will not be making an appearance at valantines. Sorry, keen for pretty much anything else and petone would be sweet for me but their food is fucking repulsive. What about the kansas city bbq? Just a thought. Never been there but heard good things.
  19. That pizza sucked. I'm a hot food person but that was just stupid. Not going to make it this time unfortunately. Cars exhaust needs to be lifted before it can move anywhere, it seems 30mm is a little too low...... Will catch everyone next time.
  20. That is the daily. Ill consult the mrs and see if she's keen.
  21. You'll have to deck the block and skim the head if your going down the route of metal headgasket. There's not a lot of tollerence in those bad boys for uneven surface.
