If you want big horsepower with zero torque, might I suggest the humble 13b?

You could try Riggs vintage Mazda for some headlight motors?
Also, I was warned off Gillies for big turbo motors? Any thoughts there?
Just stoked to see a FC project on the go. Will happily follow along for the ride!

Hey Fella's, has anyone on here had a look this Rx4 coupe that's listed on trademe? ...https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/mazda/other/listing/4507086992
It's been listed for while ,thought it would've sold ages ago...
I would like to look at it but it's 5 hour drive away wondering if worth the drive and $ ?....
Cheers
Basically what rotor motor said. Also:
From what I’ve heard the guy isn’t that helpful to deal with or keen to move much on price.
So when you think about how much it would cost to make that a cool car, you are better off just waiting for a street legal RHD coupe to come up for sale.
You would sink more money into it than it would ever be worth, and it would always be that ex brown US coupe that sat for years in Wellington.
Unless of course you wanted a LHD rat rod. But even then you would still need to rebuild the motor and do a lot just to get it road legal.
Basically, the maths doesn’t work. That’s why no one has brought it!

Sweet whip! Are you going to keep it as a street legal track car?
I looked at Tein adjusties for my FC but they were nearly $10k!

Didn’t this car come out of NZ?

Good luck with the compliance thing. How many of these things are even road legal world wide?
My vote is paint the bits that need to be proven rust free/post compliance. Leave the rest as is = story.
It would be a massive massive shame if this needed to be stripped back for compliance and all that history got lost.

Wow, that picture of the wiring improvement is super satisfying.
Picture of the new negative battery wire placement to ease my OCD please….

I guess you have to take into account when the car was built? What was cool and acceptable back then is different to what we expect now?
im sure people will look at my FC in 20 years time and go “what was he thinking?”
I’m just stoked you are working through everything to make it cool and safe again. I love 4 coupes!
(Technically I love all old Mazdas so I’m easily pleased…)- 2

Don’t forget the part where you had to fix the main battery earth wire as it was just connected to the boot release!

There’s loads of them available from Thailand but it would be questionable if any of them are any good.@Taistorm had some I think? Be interesting to hear his thoughts on them.

Sorry team, I’m out. 7 still not going to be ready. Have fun and nab some pictures.
