sup

bought this last week, got it pretty cheap, one owner from new. been sitting in a shed out whitford for around 8 years...

so i got it home, it was in a pretty bad state, gave it a good clean and came up with this:

SANY0387.jpg

SANY0388.jpg

SANY0389.jpg

SANY0390.jpg

SANY0391.jpg

as you can see it still needs some work. wof is booked for next week tho.

has rust in the bottom of front guards and boot lid, thats about it. my mate told me i would pass a wof coz it aint structural??? but hes probably talking out his ass. anyhoo.. what u think??

plans are to sack on its ass, find some decent rims for now. then eventually im gonna paint the roof/door pillars white, then the bottom half gloss red. ive also been thinking about engine conversions... what is easiest?

its mine, all mine, muhahahahaha

did the danger mouse run home and made it with only 2 mishaps

img0034sz.jpg

had to top up brake fluid as the pedal was going soft.

the exhaust decided it had had enough of gravity and had a lie down

img0024sv.jpg

so a bit of wire later and it was back to where it should be

img0031sh.jpg

plans so far = WOF, lowered and mags

probably not in that order

had some time today to get my hands dirty

removed the rear bumper to straighten it up a little

img0049xt.jpg

Found a dead wasp nest hiding behind one side( no wasps left on it luckily)

img0048z.jpg

sorted the rear muffler mounts so its hanging properly again.

oh and removed tow bar while i was at it.

img0055z.jpg

Have been polishing her up a little this week. is not super shiny but it came up alright

img0059y.jpg

also

got the rear lights all working sweet

sorted a battery mount

fixed leaking heater hose

got the heater contol unstuck (still need to fix the fan)

fixed the head light mounts so the hi/low beams were both on the outside and hi only were on the insides, the passengers side ones were reversed? nothing a dremmel cant fix in 5 mins

let there be light - 4 new head lights are in and doing what they should

new battery and it starts on its own again - sweet

sanded the cam cover and painted it matte black, this makes the engine bay look 138.4% tidier.

  • 2 weeks later...

had the exhaust welded up and took her over for a WOF.

failed on a few things but less than i was expecting

2 little bits of rust - all sorted now

exhaust leak - 2 zaps with the MIG and its all good

brakes not balanced - have bleed and adjust the rears

head light not secure - damn trim ring lost a leg, will hit the wreckers today

and all 4 tires are perished and need to be replaced - new this but took it down like that anyway

so find some tires and a trim ring an see should be ready to roll, might even happen today if i can get my ass in to gear

img0170s.jpg

img0174ca.jpg

here is the curent ride hight - went down to a 185/60r14 tire in preporation for lowering to come( looks a bit odd at the moment)

img0169lsy.jpg

and here is a quick photoshop at about 2 inches slower, will aim for 3 but want at last 2 inches of drop

had a play with the rear springs

img0175q.jpg

flipped the top two leafs(the second leaf over hangs the eyes so cant flip just one without trimming the ends)

img0176qh.jpg

chalk line is springs original arc vs new reset hight

img0189g.jpg

and all bolted back in and its dropped it about 5 inches

img0185pw.jpg

img0178rj.jpg

img0184gg.jpg

its about an inch off the bump stops like that, will flip it back till i get the front dropped as she's too nose high at the moment.

didnt like the idea of a new sterio in the dash

all the talk of running an ipod/mp3 player got me thinking.

am radio has no static and has a built in amp

opened her up and had a quick look at my options

img0201dl.jpg

cut the ear plugs off an old set of head phones and bridged the channels together

Located the volume control and tapped in to the input connection an grounded the negative channel from the head phone jack

img0200ih.jpg

heres how its connected at the moment

jacksetup.jpg

set a button to a blank station. uses the factory volume control and the AM radio still works as Factory

i little wirering later and its all ready to rock

img0222ef.jpg
