Type49
Lockdown update. The bonus of being locked down means more work on this ! Gearbox is almost back together with new gaskets, seals and a lick of paint.

Type49
All painted and reassembled. Fitted heavy duty RS bushes to the front eye. Have poly ones for the shackles.
Type49
Pressing on with the Lockdown rebuild, decided to strip the fuel tank
Type49
Found underneath the black paint some of the original Sebring Red paint. This is quite a cool coincidence, as this is a Capri fuel tank and the colour the car will be painted in.

Type49
I had to completely strip all the paint off so after a few hours this is what I was left with.

Type49
Might as well carry on keeping the momentum going so next up for a tidy up is the front suspension, actually all I'll be using from the original is the crossmember.

Type49
The reason for only using the crossmember is i will be fitting a tension strut kit which gives a much stronger, adjustable and better located arms, and I can ditch the anti-roll bar to improve turn in on the gravel.
Type49
A couple of hours with a flap disc, some paint stripper and a small chisel to knock off bits of weld spatter. It's now ready to sandblast.
Type49
Evening all, the pics I took of the xmember are too big apparantly... anyway its all blasted and etch primered. Next on the to do list is the steering rack. I started building this about 2 years ago. It's a new quick rack kit , I was trying to find a modern rack end that would but was unable. So here we are, plan B. Finish rebuilding it with standard rack ends.
