Popular Post mutiny Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 Just picked up this old girl off a mate of mine who had owned it for about 12 years. It's going to be a hell of a lot of work to get it legal ago. He built it as a bit of a skid hack and not alot else. Has a 2l in with with a bit of head work and a cam in it with a 5 speed box. Has been c notched which I'm not sire of i will continue down that route or hunt down a factory chassis . I've got the grill and head light surrounds to throw back on which should make it looks a bit tidier Anyway on to the pics Disco thread 28 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted July 26, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted July 26, 2020 Well not a lot to report on this. I did pick up a parts car. Going to run the standard chassis and flick the c notch. 17 1 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted August 15, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted August 15, 2020 Found some time to actually work on this today. Have been juggling work/life/enjoyment/house renovation time as of late. Not really sure what category working on it comes under, maybe I should have included a frustration category. So this thing has its ignition switch and headlight wiring hacked to bits. Every wiring diagram I have doesn't match my ute so figured I would just steal the loom from the parts ute. With how little the loom contains it shouldn't take long to swap it into the proper ute. The loom from the parts ute looks to have a few gremlins hiding in it too. Possibly due to rats.should be a straight forward fix. I took the motor and gear box out of the parts ute getting ready to clean the chassis up and swap my body onto the normal chassis and do away with the c notch. Have made a bit of progress on the wellside also. A friend has a sheet of zintec? At his shop for me and when I have time I'm gonna head into his work and start to cut out what I need and do some folds in preparation for welding into welside. Here's a couple lame photos but who doesn't like photos 17 Quote
mutiny Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 Another boring update. Have now got the chassis I'm going to run stripped of its cab and junk. Haven't decided if I'll rebuild the front end with all the new suspension bits I have before I put my cab on it or not. So it looks like the 2l I have in it is siezed. Have had some deisel sitting in the bores hoping it will free itself but it isn't looking promising so I may throw the 1600 motor in till I have decided what I'm going to do engine wise. I'm about to start another round of renovations so this will probabaly sit on the back burner for a while again. If anyone needa any parts let me know 9 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted December 30, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted December 30, 2020 Thread dredge from page 6 haha. Progress has been very slow on this. Lack of room is just a killer. Tonight I pulled the 2l out. One step closer to pulling the cab off the c notch chassis . At least with the motor and box out it will be a little lighter to push in and out of the garage. That's all the progress for now. So here's a boring pic for a boring build 13 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted January 4, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 Had a productive day today. Got the chassis swapped over. Damn it was ghetto. 2 small jacks and 4 axle stands haha. C notched chassis is up for sale if anyone wants it. 300 bucks bare 11 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted August 26, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted August 26, 2021 Page 8 thread dredge. So I've still got this thing. I put it up for sake a couple weeks before lockdown and got bombarded with absolute fuckwits as per trying to sell something on Facebook. I got so sick of it in the end that I didn't want anyone else to own it so I decided to pull finger instead. So this lock down has been a whole lot of making do with what I have so I've been doing a bunch of rust repairs so the cab forward is now rust free and sitting in primer. It goes to paint in a couple weeks which I am looking forward to. Have decided to go white . While the truck is away getting painted I'll set to on the wellside which is going to be a massive undertaking 33 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted December 11, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted December 11, 2021 bit of progress on the deck. have got some box section welded in and a new panel on the front. got some wheel wells welded back in. i plan on decking it out in hardwood so wont be putting any sheet metal in. progress is slow unfortunately as i have a lot on my plate but i cant wait to get it into the spray booth. there's progress elsewhere but i haven't taken too many photos at this stage so will update later 22 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted January 8, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted January 8, 2024 Thread dredge from a million pages back. I do still have this . Went hard over the holidays and got a few panels painted. Made a start on the deck ages ago. Still a bit to finish off. 21 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted January 28, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted January 28, 2024 Bit more progress. Got doors and bonnet painted. Have slapped it together for some inspiration. Most panels need to come back off. Have started prep on engine bay and hope to have that painted in the coming weeks Damn it feels good to be making some progress after it sitting in the way for so long. If anyone has any leads on a 2l MA motor flick me a message 23 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted February 4, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted February 4, 2024 Engine bay is all painted. Have re installed loom. I've manage to get the motor unstuck so hopefully it'll be a runner. Will let the paint harden for another week or so before I try and chuck that back In there. Finally some light at the end of the tunnel. Still so much to do though. Whole brake system needs going over. Will have to try source a brake and clutch master 19 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted February 14, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted February 14, 2024 Progress is coming thick and fast now. Motor back in . Gearbox back in . Got it running today for a short moment. Seems to run like a champ. Waiting on a new waterpump then I can get it up to temperature. 20 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted March 16, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted March 16, 2024 Just took this for its maiden voyage. Zero travel in the front . 50 percent of a exhaust. So bumpy and so rowdy. Love it . Still a shit load to do but darn it's a good feeling 30 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted March 31, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted March 31, 2024 Beem working on this thing pretty flat out. Done a bunch of interior work and just rebuilt all the steering components. Everything feels a lot tighter now . Not too far away being ready for a warrant 25 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted April 14, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted April 14, 2024 Bit of a bitter sweet update. After the last monthly meet the 2l decided to run a bearing on the way home leave me stranded on the side of the motorway. I managed to source a gamble na 1600 motor of a friend so whipped that in and after the legend himself @RUNAMUCK worked his wizardry swapping out the dizzy and timing the motor up I was back in business again . Have taken it for a wee drive around the block and the motor seems to be happy enough. Old water pump was shot so picked up another and slammed it in. Oil change and some new plugs and hopefully it's smooth sailing from here on in I also put some guard mirrors on it. Damn they're useless but they look the part 25 1 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted May 31, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted May 31, 2024 Well I've been driving this round a wee bit since getting it's warrant. It's running pretty good. Great for throwing the bike on. Been dialing in a few small things that have been bugging me. Just small oil leaks , rattles and the like. With all the new suspension, steering and tires it actually drives pretty bloody nice. Next on the to do list is a new exhaust 26 Quote
mutiny Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 Pictureless update for a fun less update. have just installed new shoes and wheel cylinders in the rear brakes, the only thing worse than drum brakes is drum brakes with 2 cylinders per wheel. damn theyre a dog to adjust right. front is still drum brake so im on the hunt for a front disc conversion . i believe 81 to 85 b1600 and b2000 brakes bolt straight on. i have done the conversion on a previous b1600 i owned but that was well over a decade ago. if anyone knows of any for sale please get at me, i really dont want to have to rebuild the front drums. On a brighter note i have been driving this around a fair amount with trouble free motoring. has become my weekend driver. i really need to get around to aligning the tray a bit better, body lines dont line up with the cab real good 6 Quote
