Mitch.W
so yeah, this thing got mentioned to me by a friend (seen88 on here) he told me its a kp starlet with full ae86 running gear for a vert reasonable price. I went and checked it out, and it happend to have everything that i was told, Blue top 4age, t50 box, t series rear end (unshortend sadly) adjustable front suspension, adjustable lca's adjustable caster arms, heaps of other random stuff. the story goes the guy that built it had a starlet rally car that he had but the shell was fucked, he brought this shell and slapped everything into it, then gave up? i guess... When i picked it up i was told it was running but it no longer does so i will hopefully sort that all out today! plans are -slam -paint -wheels -cert -do drifts all the bad stuff is annoying though. -yuck flared guards -Chinese fender mirrors -really bad bright yellow paint -genreal rally spec stuff that i have to rip out and redo to get legal -non matching seats (different bases to backs) I have already ripped out the monster tacho, installed my nardi and random little gear knob. I will modify my seat rails to suit my fixed back bride and i really want a tidyer interior with no screw holes in the dash.
Mitch.W
talking thread - //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/51653-mitchs-kp60-starlet-build-thingy/ so got this thing started up yesterday, got it running for about 2 minutes and it will then die, every other time it starts its for about 30 seconds then dies. Any suggestions? i was thinknig or slapping a new wiring loom in it as this one is a bit iffy. EDIT: Problems solved thanks to pbaines for lending me a bunch of parts, i slapped an ae86 (EDIT: ae82) ecu in and it fired right up and ran perfect! starts first pop every time. now to fix everything else
Mitch.W
new seat, steering wheel, and shift knob. Need to patch the shifter hole as it has been hacked, much like the rest of this car. god bored and i hate polished rocker covers so i slapped some VHT wrinkle black on that shit. Took it for a skid it had a super sticky throttle and axle tramp of doom. the exhaust also fell off so a new one of them is in order. But first i need to add some sort of slam.
Mitch.W
fixed my front guards by ripping them off and getting new ones. went and ordered a few small parts from Toyota, dizzy cap and rotor, rocker cover washers, indicator lens. also brought some coilover sleeves off trademe to make up my new suspension and also corolla ae80? shocks, 42mm shorter in the body and 30mm shorter stroke i think. so i will slap all the suspension together at work this week hopefully. just need some camber plates, so if anyone has any old camber plates for anything at all laying around that would be ideal decided to treat my gearbox to some redline shockproof gear oil. found a spring in my scrap pile that looked about the same diamater, cut it up and made 2 springs out of it, stock on the left and new ones on the right and im trying out suzuki vitara shocks in the back, hopefully they aren't valved too stiff I have a drift day on easter weekend at an abandoned prison so that should be fun and hopefully the car doesn't break too much there! Popular Post Mitch.W
i maded suspension ended up with 6kg springs 150mm, ae80 shocks, strut housing shortened by 45mm i think, and ae86 camber plates. on my first test drive i realised my driveshaft loves my floor so need to cut and rasie that up. annnd picked some equips up and a bunch of other wheels slapped some tires on and this is the result. the back is still miles high because the ae86 diff hasn't been shortened so i can bearly fit a 13x6 +10, will get that sorted asap then the back can come down to match the front. after this drift day it will get a paint and a good needed tidy up

Popular Post Mitch.W
sooooo i sold this directly after breaking it. and then proceeded to buy it back this week since its my favourite past time. got it back in more or less the condition i sold it in 5 years ago, didn't run, had some questionable "upgrades" done and the front end had been taken off. i got it put back together and running on the weekend and took it for a hoon, it needs some ahhhhhh, refinement you could say. Plans are n2 kit, 13x9 or so with slicks, cage, paint and all other associated race car thing and then fall into a spiral of wanting to go faster and end up blowing all my money on it so here we go. ordered a bunch of stuff that should be here this week all going well. really want to try and replacate the Trust starlet cup car livery too. How it looked when i got it. after a bath and some wheels i had laying around for the time being, if someone has some 13x6 or so 3 piece wheels that they want to sell that would be grand! so yeah, tell me in stupid for doing this etc in the discussion/suggestions on what to do,
Popular Post Mitch.W
been trying to get this thing done fast, got it stripped down and sent it off for a rollcage, came back this week and i am over the moon, Nick Stewart at SAFEngineering smashed it, the fitment is amazing nice and tight and super simple exactly what i wanted some parts i've ordered have started to roll in 6 point 3x2 takata harness and bride zeta 2 for max fanboy mike shaw fibreglass n2 kit mocked up for now, will fit it this week all going well also picked up these potenza TR-3 wheels but cannot get lips to widen them until march next year so have something else coming in the mail still waiting for my brake kit to arrive so i can put that together, now the fun part of prepping it for paint which i'm really not looking forward to.
Popular Post Mitch.W
soo my wheels arrived and couldn't help but slap them on and tape my flares on for a test fit, they fit perfect and look nice and aggressive. The height needs adjusting a little bit/lowering but am slightly limited by my rear arm angles but will get onto that later down the track when I do a new diff setup. looks rad though. got a package from Barry at mrp too, wildwood big brake kit, lower arm traction brackets and some orca's. its enough to get me going for now and hopefully some good lap times.
Popular Post Mitch.W
Been busy scraping all of the yellow off the car, whoever painted it last did a terrible job and the paint has been flaking off/coming off when you stick tape to it so thats been fun. also got paper back from MSNZ for my homologation, stripped all the sound deadening out of the inside and its all sanded ready for primer and top coat. also did the rear tubs, cut out as much as i could for future slam/travel. 13
Popular Post Mitch.W
been cranking out getting this painted the last month or so, my first time painting so didn't turn out great but its all white now. painted the body this weekend, never want to paint a rollcage again either, wasn't much fun couldn't contain my excitement so put it all together last night and cut the dashboard to fit Next on the list of things to do is install all the new suspension parts up front with new bushes and ball joints etc. whip the diff out and install the new raito hopefully and all new suspension parts back there too build a rowdy side exit exhaust and then try and break it 16
Popular Post Mitch.W
got my fortune auto coil overs welded them up and installed them along with my "big" brake kit. gave the diff a quick wire wheel and paint black before i slapped it back in. the underside of this car is so grimey/caked in dirt i need to get under it and water blast everything off. also got windows installed and a bunch of other small things done but im useless at documenting stuff. Rolled it outside and gave it a quick wash, the new height is nice and all the arms seem to be at an okay angle but hopefully it handles good because i don't want to raise it/rear needs to come down 20mm

Popular Post Mitch.W
got this thing all finished up, stickers put on to make it go faster. maybe made it go too fast? took it out on Saturday for a bit of a shakedown at manfeild and its knocking quite bad so i ripped the motor out on Saturday night in preparation for a new one and a new gearbox as the current one doesn't like going into gears and ill convert to hydraulic clutch while i'm at it too. will slap a quick coat of white paint in there too to get rid of the last yellow on the car 27
