Hi all.
Trawling through facebook i found a "gx71 wanted" post, with this picture in the comments:

Seeing the "twincam24" badge made me investigate, and after having a couple of auckland members/sluts look at it (Beachlander/Cheese) i had it shipped to chch.
Stripped some bits off my 1ggte MKii sedan,sold it and im starting fresh with this.

Factory 1ggeu.
auto.
Digi dash.
Respray 6 months ago.
Some sort of lowering springs.

Pretty happy with it. Interior is 100% mint. Motor goes good. 
This is the plan. Minus the yuck mesh.

So First thing i done once the car arrived was remove the stock auto.

I kept all the manual gear from the turbo car, and started to swap it over.
Plan was to use a 6 speed gbox but after many measurements and 1 test fit, it was decided to use the W series gbox in the meantime as i dont want to cut up a mint car just yet.

I had a stock 1g flywheel. But decided to import a lighter one.

7.8         ---->            4.6kg

And finished. Gbox is a bit haggard but it wont be in for too long. will mod everything to fit the 6 speed j160 after cert.

Next add some factory option pieces.

before selling my turbo chassis i swapped to factory mirrorless front doors.
This ment pulling both sets of doors apart and swapping everything. Including pulling both sets of door cars apart and swapping the tops over.
Would NOT do it again. 

Proper Gx71 Mirrors, including new metal storks as the originals were rooted so i made some new ones.

Factory Half seat covers and monsoons. Both say mark II on them. ideal.

Started polishing a Late 1G-GE intake manifold for fun. 
Turned into an long job.

it turned out "ok" its not a pro job by any means but meh.  Need to wire in the different ISCV valve then i can swap intakes over.

Banged these puppys in. Interiors now complete except for a nice steering wheel, which i will find later. Preferably an OBA / Nardi woodgrain.

Then Full Stainless twin 1.5" and wheels after i sell my 9/10j mk1's.

Slam time.

Also swapped to late polished 1gg intake, but seem to have wired the Idle speed control valve up wrong as it idles at 1500 and wont drop once warm. Anyone a wizard with this stuff and care to help?

2 positive wires.

4 others.

Got me stumped.

Also new cam seals and all fluids. Birthday spec.

Stripped the struts ready for welding, Then got sidetracked by yahoo auctions again and bought my dream wheels.

14x6.5/7J Focus Racing Spoke.   Ripe for widening to 9/10A specs.

Currently on a boat. V excite. A+ etc

Went to remove the rear shock friday night to chuck in BC's. And it decided to snap the head off. IDEAL. rusted in there.
Saturday i drilled and removed it with some heat. Thankfully i didnt fuck the thread.

Rolled to pickapart, racked a few pieces off a MX73,
Rear sway bar so i can double them up.
Seatbelt anchors, (it currently has aftermarket ones that are 300mm long and tickle your nipple while driving)
some spare trim,
handbrake sensor so the digi dash can stop flashing at me.

Anyways. Picture dump for fread.

Drilled guards for fender mirrors. 

Fellow RIVERSIDE member in japan sent me a TWINCAM24 Front grill badge as a gift. Beats all pressie's for last few years by far. (this specific badge are rare even in japan he says!)

Also, Sold my 14x9/10JA  mk1's to speed up car progress.
So bought a 14x12 cause its cool.
Done lots of RPM tunnel videos.
Dropped struts off to be Crack tested today. 

Talked to engineer for plans after cert, moving motor forward, 6 speed, ITB maniold and shortening the diff are all on the cards. Not all at once (duh)

Ordered New Outer Barrels for Focus Racing.  

Have organised purchase of Camber adjustable subframe also. Thanks to a gingerminge speciman.

Question. Once the wheels are split i want to powdercoat the centre and spokes, then skim 0.5-1mm off the face of the centre to bring it back to new metal and remove pitting, while keeping the sides of spokes powdercoated.  

Will the powdercoating chip if i lathe the face?  Am i better to paint rather then powdercoat.  Whats the benefits of powdercoating over spraying them?

Wof time.

Went to replace steering rack due to it leaking like a solid 8/10 creampie. Learned that my jap model has some flash rack and the NZ spec x7 ones are way different.   So had to rebuild the original one.

Replaced Clutch slave and Master also because they both were OG 180,000k ones and leaked also.

woo. got a randum plate. and some $100 buck custom cam gears off a FB page.

And my Focus Racing Spokes's split and new lips. 14x8/9 A type specs. woo.

Going to face the centre and get the centre mirror polished also.
