I have start to sound deaden/heat shield the firewall and floor. While doing the engine bay side I bumped on the booster vacuum hose and it snapped off. I tried to fish the snapped piece out but it fell into the booster. Hopefully It doesn't fuck it.

Luckily the valve on the hq wagon was the same so I stole it and its working again.

The carpet was rank so It got ripped out and I've started doing the floor.

Got distracted and put some led strip in the interior light so that works now too.

There are a couple of rust spots starting where the screen leaks and the water has been sitting under the carpet

Drivers side is nearly done with the sound deadening. I'll clean up the rust spots and paint them then finish it off.

MY genuine Mexican Mexican blankets arrived today, Will get the mrs to sew them into a cover as the vinyl is cracked and held together by duct tape

I chipped all the cracked sealant out of the gutter/drip rail then slapped some beige hamemrite on it. it looks less bad now. Finished off the sound deadening on the passengers side. I thought I've have a hoon at wrapping the exhaust. Turned out pretty good, I'll go for a drive tomorrow and see if its cooler inside

I've a done few little things today. I fixed the bit of trim on the side of the tray which has been flapping/catching on stuff since i bought the truck. Finally fixed the cigarette lighter. The element doesn't work but I don't need it so all is well. Butchered the original speaker as it was toast and replaced it with a couple of 4". Turns out all the air con duct wont fit in now and the radio is a close squeeze. Re connected the radio and it works for about 30 secs then fades out. Had a go at connecting a aux in to it but that didn't work either. I've decided I'll cheat and use ad old amp I started making years ago so will mount that under the dash and mount some decent speakers somewhere else. The interior light/high low kick switch loom has been annoying me for a long time so I tesa taped it up.12659628_10153580956013999_1824782698_n_12650644_10153580955988999_1988500861_n_12674474_10153580955953999_134953359_n_z12659684_10153580955928999_271409848_n_z12666285_10153580955903999_1898492784_n_12659612_10153580955898999_1870055120_n_12650368_10153580955888999_677673450_n_z12650375_10153580955868999_573377274_n_z12648081_10153580955833999_195257439_n_z

Finished the amp today and it works. Stoked. I have a metal enclosure that I'll put it in tomorrow and see where I can hide it. Might need a small pre amp for A ipod or similar as its a bit quiet. It gets plenty loud when plugged into the computer. I will see if I can trace the AM tuner output in the factory radio and tap into that and use this amp

Edit: While doing the seat cover I felt what I thought was a tissue but it was worse

Still havent done anything about the amp/radio. My leds turned up today. I spent ages mucking around cleaning and messing around to get the cargo light working. I figured I'd just slam a 10w led cob into it. I butchered the old lamp and removed it. Drilled a couple of holes and slammed the led in. The driver will sit behind it. Its bloody bright. I'll find some screws, slam it back in and test it to see how bright it is. I ran it for about 5 mins and it seemed to top at 50 degrees Its a bit high for my liking but should be ok for the amount it'll get used. And the fact I can't fit a bigger heat sink anywhere. I will put a bead of silicon around the lens to try seal it better than the old perished stuff that's there.

Drilled some mounting holes and slapped some thermal paste on

  • 2 weeks later...

I got some Knead it epoxy stuff in a attempt to make the steering wheel less shit and have chunks falling off and moving around. Its best to use very small amounts as it sets pretty quickly. It turned out ok its not the best looking thing but is stronger and the pieces no longer move/try to fall off, and $20ish is cheaper than a steering wheel.

Got some other stuff too for the tray.

So the fuel leak was the tank vent tube on the sender having a crack in it. I went nuts with some knead it epoxy and filled it again today and it seems to be happy and leak free so far.

Trans leaks are all fixed. Needed a pan gasket and new speedo gear/housing. They also pulled out the seatbelt switch and slapped a bung in. For the first time since owning this it actually holds ALL of its fluids in

Dont have a photo of the pood up sender. Just imagine lots of epoxy.

I finished the amp and put it in a old box I found. Slapped some clear on the old paint and I think it turned out ok.

I have run out of time to properly mount speakers so will just use the ones I have already made.

It took WAY too long to get the power indicator led in the hole but its in now. I'll put a bottom plate on it and screw it under the dash somewhere. Just need a aux in cable and we'll have some (quiet) tunes.

I'll have to get a cable gland from work tomorrow and see if there is enough time to stick it in if not ill use it as is. Still need to test it with the car running and see if there is any alternator noise

I cut and ness sewed the seatbelt holes for the cover. We will probably end up safety pinning it together for this trip.

Amp is installed (with cable ties) and works. Doesn't go super loud but will be better than silence and no alt noise which is a bonus!

Seat cover turned out ok. We still need to sort out the base and figure out a material that we can swe/attach to the cotton so it lasts longer than a few farts as it pulls and rips really easily.

Found a cool switch mount in my stash of stuff

I greased up the ash tray and it slides in and out easily now which is nice and makes the dash look a tad better with one less hole
