rxtoy
So I just bought a new daily, it was ultra cheap and it's got rego (no wof required in WA so it's legal) plus the coldest air con I've ever come across but it's taken a bit of a hammering driveline and suspension wise. Jacked up all 4 corners to check things out and came up with 3 fucked cv joints 1 rear wheel bearing 1 front lower ball joint proper scary that I drove on it fucked 1 bent rear strut A couple of oil leaks Some panel damage Jacking points are all rough as fuck Wheels are all pretty rough So I'm going parts shopping in the morning but considering these are import only in Aussie I may have issues. I'm thinking about just grabbing a 3sge 5 speed ST184 and swapping brakes, hubs, driveline over. Anyone know how compatible they are? rxtoy
Merry Xmas Corona!!! had most parts in stock, there was nothing listed for the ball joint, i grabbed an ST184 one but it won't work. also still in need of a rear strut but i've got the bent one out now so i'm going to take it for a drive and compare it to a pair of ST204 ones that are for sale on gumtree. also got the rear wheel bearing out, just need to wait until monday to use the press at work. CV's were a bit of a prick, but mainly because i haven't done any inners for ages so pissed around a bit and did it the long way. getting the passenger side one out of the gearbox was driving me mental until i googled it and someone mentioned using a slide hammer, which reminded me that the g/f's dad had one in the shed. bent strut housing the joys of spending half the day under a car which is covered in CV grease and engine oil leaks thinking along the lines of these for wheels, i think they'll suit and they're only $300 brand new. add $400 odd for tires and the whole car is still going to come in at around $2K which i'm pretty happy with while i was under there i found the rear engine mount was fucked so i'll pick one of those up early next week and she should be ready to go by wednesday the way things are going. fingers crossed!!! cheers Matt
rxtoy
for reference for anyone else having issues finding info on ST190 coronas it seems the lower ball joint is the same as the ST204 celica. which is promising for the struts i'm looking at tomorrow cheers Matt
