Popular Post shaneo
For those of you that Know I have been on the look for a new work vehicle for a while now. The poor old Alfa must be getting near the end of its life with 255,000 kms on it . So the challenge was on to find a Vehicle that was up to the job hopefully Oldschool was first on the list. Next it needed be able to move stuff (cakes) with care and carry half a ton if needed . So I found this has a warrent , rego , rust and a rattly motor but it goes and road legal starts like dream from cold and the 1.3 power plant what more could you want . Had to have at least one photo of this great car has changed the way I look at an Alfa's with this many Km how can you fault them??????????????? More on the new Work Van I have these wheels sitting around and think they will suit this well While I had the wheel off I noticed 9 inch drums which is great but the plan is to keep it very standard with a little low and some wheels. Inside the back is in such good condition looks like it's hardly carried anything and rides that high as well. The guy I bought it off swore black and blue that it had 87,000 km. I'm not sold but there are some very good condition parts inside it. The urgent list has a new window rubber new floor pan fix the messy back door repair. And for looks wheels lowered Discussion Thread //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/44953-shaneos-79-escort-work-van/

Just fitted some mags for some fancy bits for now Also have been using it all day for its duties as a work van and it was a star moved 850 cartons in two trips and the weekly Gillmours shop was no trouble . These little vans are great. All the front bushes are had it the whole front end is moving around so now there is 3 things on the urgent list

Popular Post shaneo
Got it back last night just in time to drive to the monthly meet. Had to do a mad dash to ripco for a new dizzy cap and roto and the points where wrong as well. I thought it ran like clock work on these parts Many thanks to Azzurro for the great photo Hopefully if it doesn't rain to much over the weekend so I can get the lowering done over the weekend

Popular Post shaneo
The Van has been working hard for the last few months there have been a few little problems to work though. First was the continued water pooling inside in the end a new set of door rubbers fixed the problem Had an extra edge from the last ones I got so where a pain to fit but do a very good job next on the the list was the ongoing problem of people pulling in front of the van or trying to run into it so a real horn was required 135 Db later lets say a few people have been scared The sagging sun visors was next and thanks to a donor car I bought many months ago and haven't touched yet. I have quite a few spares for the fleet. The rubber was worn as well so new tyres where needed and the thermostat wasn't working either so after replacing showed the radiator was blocked and needed a flush
shaneo
The van has been working well only one real issue along the way but was easy fixed It was a quick easy fix but was a problem at the time as It broke the hand brake cable as well Next on the list is the front brakes as they love the scream and pull to the right pretty hard . The drive shaft that I used as a replacement needs balanced so I find a spare and get that done and do the swap over. Have been slowly working away on getting the new engine and drive line sorted
shaneo
Again its been a while the great white Van has been working hard so a few prezzies for it are well deserved the short shifter on the big HP 1.3 is needed The great thing about having more than one escort spare parts . The work truck got a flat tyre at 2 am so the van was called to task and for 5 hours it run all over the city doing deliveries with ease and loving it the only problem was at the end of the day the muffler at the rear wasn't so happy about have gas though it for that long so while i was getting the muffler repaired I got these fitted( Many thanks Woolf Mufflers ) So now it has a lot more top end lol for a 1.3 with the sport so out of action right now its the Van for lead foot so a stereo has been fitted and I have been really enjoying so good old school Rock yeah yeah Spent tonight starting to put a little polish on the Van it should be looking great for Lead Foot

shaneo
Almost 2 years little van has been busy done a couple of Gumboot rallies with all of of the greatness of 49hp then the motor gave up 1.3 xflow they go forever sometimes . Motor finally died so put the old sport engine into this to help it get a little more power so fancy rebuild a few extra engine bits and what can it do ???? drive line has a fair bit of work to match loads to update

shaneo
Been working away on this almost running is very different from when I first got it much work has been done over the last couple of years should be all legal and back to daily at Easter Some photos of the changes up and running EFI working well but hard to start Some new wheels arrived but due to the adjustable A arms and other mods to the front the off set doesn't work . Next problem was the 105 speed headers yet again . I thought I would try one more time but they failed . But the life it had with them on was a large difference So back to the drawing board what to do and I will work on catching this up to where it is up to so much has been done
